To specify the standards of accuracy for cadastral, geodetic and topographic surveys

To be the principal authority responsible for receiving, storing and exchanging in any form of all spatial data

• Supported various national and international organizations by issuing digital spatial data during last tsunami
• Landslide mapping with NBRO• Issuing Spatial data for other agencies for
their own disaster mitigation programms( Central Env. Authority, Land Use Policy Planning, UDA etc..)

Success of the mini projectSuccess of the mini project
• This study proved the vital importance of digital data in the field disaster mitigation
• Enhance the capability of the Survey Department in supporting of GIS & RS technology for this type of projects
• Develop the collaboration with NBRO, the landslide mapping agency of Sri Lanka
• Identify and develop products suitable for disaster management agencies such as NBRO and others

Future Collaboration Plans for Disaster Mitigation within Sri Lanka
•Develop research network to increasethe access to multi disciplinary data through Web Mapping
•Expect to provide free ALOS Satellite Products during a Disaster with the collaboration of Sentinel Asia Project

Future Collaboration Requirements
•ALOS-PRISM data for high-resolution Digital Terrain Models for flood sensitive and landslide risk areas•Cheaper satellite data for monitoring purposes (ALOS-AVNIR and PALSAR)•Support for capacity building in satellite data usage and product generation•JAXA’s collaboration in 2008 ACRS
