19TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

Jesus tells his listeners: “I am the bread of life… the living bread come down from heaven! Anyone who eats this ‘bread’ will never die.”

How would you respond if you heard a person making these claims? You might automatically write them off as a “nut case” or a religious fanatic. But really, we never know when, how or through what person, Jesus may come to us. After all, Jesus is the “living” bread. He has power far beyond our imagination. The reality is that he is always with us! Unfortunately, we are not always aware of his presence.

Today let us be awake and alert. Jesus, our “bread from heaven,” may appear to us in unexpected ways… maybe disguised in a friend, or in an unexpected helping hand or simply in the quiet of the morning. Let’s keep our eyes, ears, mind and heart open and alert. We don’t want to miss him! What a loss that would be!

Jesús dice a sus oyentes: "Yo soy el pan de vida... ¡el pan vivo des viene del cielo! El que coma este 'pan' nunca morirá."

¿Cómo responderías si escucharas a una persona hacer estas cosas? Usted podría pensar automáticamente que "caso de tuerca" o un fanático religioso. Pero en realidad, nunca sabemos cuándo, cómo o a través de quién, Jesús puede venir a nosotros. Después de todo, Jesús es el pan "vivo". Él tiene poder mucho más allá de nuestra imaginación. ¡La realidad es que siempre está con nosotros! Lamentablemente, no siempre somos conscientes de su presencia.

Hoy estemos despiertos y alerta. Jesús, nuestro "pan del cielo", puede aparecernos de maneras inesperadas... tal vez disfrazado en un amigo, o en una mano amiga inesperada o simplemente en la tranquilidad de la mañana. Mantengamos nuestros ojos, oídos, mente y corazón abiertos y alertas. ¡No queremos perder las oportunidades de encontrarlo! ¡Qué pérdida sería!

Elijah looked and there at his head was a hearth cake and a jug of water. After he ate and drank, he lay down again, but the angel of the LORD came back a second time, touched him, and ordered, “Get up and eat, else the journey will be too long for you!” He got up, ate, and drank; then strengthened by that food, he walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. Compartiremos una cena compartida en el comedor de St. Henry y luego nos instalaremos para una gran noche de música y adoración con Steve Angrisano. Está de gira con Mary’s Meals, una organización que trabaja para combatir el hambre en todo el mundo. DESPENSA DE COMIDA La Despensa de Comida en Marshalltown necesita los siguientes alimentos: cereales, frutas enlatadas, verduras enlatadas, sopas enlatadas, queso. Por favor no recipientes de vidrio. (Verifique las fechas de vencimiento para asegurarse de que los alimentos no estén vencidas).
