    Thirty-sixth ChapterPresentation of the ring

    (To prove his bonafides, Hanuman presents the royal ring of Rama to Sita .She isconvinced by this memento .She then realizes her mistake and praises Hanuman. She

    sounds hopeful about her being saved by Rama ,She is also perpleed because Rama does

    not appear to her anything to save her. Hanuman tries to dispel her misunderstanding andtells ho! sad Rama is."

    The son of !ind god and the greatly resplendent Hanuman !ith an intention of increasing

    Sita#s faith in him told the follo!ing !ords !ith all humility. $

    %Hey holy lady, & am the monkey !ho is the emissary of the great Hero Rama. 'nd so to

    dispel any misunderstanding that you may have and to increase your faith, please see

    here, the signet ring of Rama in !hich his name is inscribed , !hich !as given to me byhim and !hich !as brought here by me. ou !ould remain safe. ou !ould soon see the

    end of your sorro!.) *+

    'fter telling like this he presented the ring to Sita. -

    That Sita after receiving the ornament of the hand of Rama eamined it closely and

    became as happy as if she sa! her husband in person.

    Then that lady becoming a little shy and also becoming pleased by hearing the story ofRama, being mentally happy and understanding that the monkey chief has done her a

    great help started praising him. /(According to Tilaka she became shy because she felt that her husband was near by andanother commentator feels that she became shy because she suspected the great

    Hanuman instead of trusting him.)

    %Hey great monkey, you are a great hero, you are greatly !ise and you are greatly

    intelligent and only because of those 0ualities you !ere able to see this place of

    Rakshasas all alone and !ithout any help.) 1

    %ou, !ho can be described as a great hero, have crossed this ocean !hich is one

    hundred yo2anas broad and !hich is the home of sharks, in one 2ump and made it

    e0uivalent to the hoof mark of the co!. % 3

    %Hey monkey chief, & do not think that you are an ordinary monkey for you do not have

    any fear for Ravana and you also are not nervous.) 4

    %Hey chief of monkeys, due to the fact that you have been sent by Rama, !ho kno!s the

    mind of others , you are definitely fit to hold conversation !ith me.) $5

    %That matchless Hero Rama !ould not send an emissary, !ithout kno!ing his valor and

    !ithout eamining him especially to me.) $$

    %That very 2ust votary of truth, Sri Rama is luckily all right and it is also lucky that the

    greatly resplendent 6akshmana !ho increases the happiness of Sumithra is also all right.)

    %7ecause the 8akustha is all right, possibly he !ould burn all the earth surrounded by the

    sea by his anger, !hich is similar to the fire that !ill engulf the !orld during deluge.)$

    %& kno! that both of them are capable of even punishing the 9evas but & think there is no

    end in sight for my sorro!.) $-

    %& think that Rama is not mentally upset and !ould do !hat remains to be done no!

    !ithout being affected by sorro!.) $

    %& think that prince Rama is not broken do!n and is not committing mistakes because he

    is perpleed and also is doing the duties of a man.) $/

    %He !ho gives pain to his enemies, & hope is using t!o approaches (peaceful affectionate

    advice (sama" and by besto!ing help, riches etc (9hana"" !ith love to!ards his relativesand three approaches (bribery (dhana" creating rift and confusion (7hedha" and

    punishment (9handa"" to!ards enemies !ith a vie! to !in over them.) $1

    %& believe that he is being visited by his friends, he is hospitable to!ards them and he isrespected by them.) $3

    %& believe that Rama !ho is the son of an emperor is praying :ods for blessing and hasfaith in the fact that physical effort is :od#s blessing.) $4

    %& believe that though he is far a!ay from me, his love to!ards me has not diminishedand Hey, ;onkey, & also believe that he is taking appropriate action to free me from this

    sorro!.) *5

    %& believe that Rama !ho al!ays deserves to be happy and !ho does not deserve to besad is not becoming very feeble because of this intense sorro!.) *$

    %& believe that he gets ne!s about 8ausalya and Sumithra fre0uently and that he getsne!s about 7haratha also.) **

    (Please note that she is not asking about news of Kaikeyi)

    %& believe that because of the sorro! caused by me , he has not lost his pride and is

    listless. & also believe that Rama !ould save me from this misery.) *

    for the sake of me.) *-

    % & believe that the great monkey chief Sugreeva !ould come surrounded by monkeys!ho have cla!s and teeth as !eapons for my sake.) *

    %& believe that the great hero and great archer 6akshmana !ho increases the happiness of

    Sumithra !ould eterminate all the Rakshasas by his rain of arro!s.) */

    %& believe that very soon, Rama using burning arro!s !ould kill Ravana along !ith hisfriends and that & !ould be able to see him very soon.) *1

    %& believe that that golden face of Rama !ho has a perfume similar to the lotus flo!ers

    !ould not !ilt because of my separation, similar to the lotus flo!er being !ilted by torridSun light.) *3

    % & believe that courage permanently resides in his heart !hich neither had sorro!, fear or

    !orries even !hen he forsook the kingdom for the sake of 2ust action or !hen he brought

    me by !alk in to this forest.) *4

    %Hey emissary, for me, because of my love to!ards him, my great father is not e0ual to

    him, nor my mother nor any one else and so & !ish to continue this life only till & hear

    about his actions.) 5

    That all kno!ing holy lady, after telling these very meaningful and pleasant to hear

    !ords halted !ith a vie! to hear the reply of Hanuman !hich !ere aimed at attainingRama and !hich !as about Rama. $

    That great hero Hanuman hearing the !ords of Sita, keeping his hands in salutations overhis head told the follo!ing !ords. *

    (alutations with hands opposite to the chest is done for persons of e*ual stature and

    o+er head to ,od and to persons who are much abo+e your stature)

    %That lotus eyed Rama does not kno! that you are here and that is !hy he is not taking

    you back like &ndra took back his 0ueen Sachi 9evi.

    (Anuhlada abducted achi -e+i! the *ueen of ndra. ndra after killing the /akshasatook back his *ueen)

    %'s soon as Raghava hears my !ords, he along !ith a great army consisting of onlymonkeys and bears is going to reach here soon.) -

    (Hanuman0s reply indicates that he would not ask for armed help from 1haratha as

    indicated by ita)

    %That 8akustha is going to freeze the ocean !hich cannot be moved and going to make

    6anka devoid of Rakshasas.)

    %&f the god of death or 'suras along !ith 9evas are going to block his !ay, he !ould

    kill them immediately.) /

    %Hey, holy lady, that Rama because of his sorro! in not being able to see you, is

    suffering like an elephant attacked by a lion and does not kno! !hat is pleasure) 1

    %Hey, holy lady, & am taking an oath !ith !itnesses the ;alaya mountain, the

    %Hey holy lady, that great soul and prince Rama !ho believes firmly in 2ust action, isal!ays unhappy and al!ays keeps on muttering %Hey Sita) and keeps on trying to find

    you.) -/

    That Sita !ho is the daughter of king hen Hanuman sees that Sita is miserable, he offers to carry her on his backimmediately to the presence of Rama. Sita refuses to believe him because he is too small

    and !ould not be capable of doing it. Hanuman then sho!s her very big form. She is

    !onderstruck by his strength but tells him that as a !oman she many not be able toundertake such a risky 2ourney. She also tells him of her o!ill she has never touched any

    other male ecept Rama. She concludes by saying that unless Rama himself frees her, a

    bad name !ould come to him."

    That princess Sita !ho had a full moon face after hearing the ne!s, told the follo!ing

    meaningful !ords containing essence of 2ustice. $

    %The !ords told by you that %Rama is not paying attention to any thing), is like nectar

    and the !ords that )He is dro!ned in sorro!), is like poison.) *

    %Though full of complete riches or very horrible sorro!, man is tied and dragged by the

    effects of actions his previous birth , similar to be being tied and dragged by a rope.)

    %Hey chief of the monkeys, it is indeed true that the effects of fate cannot be preventedby all living beings, This is aptly illustrated by the eample of the son of Sumithra,

    myself and Rama.) -

    %>hen is Rama going to s!im to the other shore of sorro!, similar to the one !ho after

    breaking of the ship in the ocean, s!ims !ith difficulty to the other shore.)

    %>hen is my lord going to kill Rakshasas , kill Ravana, destroy 6anka and see me? /

    %& can be alive only that number of days !hen the year of my captivity lasts, and so he

    has to be told that %He has to complete the 2ob !ith care and speed.)) 1

    %This is the tenth month in the period set for me to be alive by Ravana and the remaining

    %Hey great monkey, & am seeing your great 0ualities, strength of your body, your speed

    !hich is e0ual to that of !ind god and the po!er !hich is e0ual to that of the fire :od.)-5

    %Hey chief of monkeys , ho! can an ordinary being have the strength to reach this

    unthinkable beach and this city?) -$

    %& can visualize your great strength by !hich you can carry me back but the great onesbut !e have to also consider the certain and speedy completion of his duty of the great

    one .) -*

    %Hey chief of monkeys, it is not possible for me to accompany you for & may faint by the

    great speed by !hich you go.) -

    %& may perhaps fall do!n because of trembling induced by fear from your back !hen youare traveling in the sky far far above the ocean.) --

    %& !ould then perhaps fall and die in the ocean and become good food for beings like!hales and crocodiles living in the sea.) -

    %Hey destroyer of foes, =ot only that it is not possible for me to go !ith you. Cor dangermay !ithout doubt happen to you !ho is carrying me.) -/

    %Cor once the bad soul Ravana comes to kno! that & have escaped, those great valorous

    asuras ordered by him !ould catch up !ith us.) -1

    %Hey valorous one, you !ould be surrounded by those heroes armed !ith iron rods and

    spears and you carrying me !ho has to be saved !ould attain lot of danger.) -3

    %Those Rakshasas !ould be too many and !ell armed you !ould not be armed and ho!

    can you fight !ith them in the sky and that too ho! is it possible for you to save me?)-4

    %Hey chief of monkeys, !hile you are fighting !ith those Rakshasa !ho are capable of

    cruel deeds , & may tremble because of fear and fall do!n.) 5

    %Hey chief of monkeys, there !ould be too many rakshasas !ho are all very po!erful

    and they someho! !ill attain victory over you in !ar.) $

    %Ather!ise also !hen you are fighting !ith lot of difficulty, & may fall do!n and those

    sinner Rakshasas !ould take me a!ay.) *

    %Perhaps they may snatch me from your hands or even perhaps kill me for in !ar victory

    or defeat is never certain.)

    %Ar it is possible that insulted by those Rakshasas & may give up my life and even that

    !ay , Hey monkey chief, all your efforts !ill culminate in getting no result.) -

    %& realize that you are 0uite capable of killing all of them but in spite of that Rama#s

    fame !ill decrease !hen it is kno!n that all Rakshasas !ere killed by you.)

    (She implies that People !ill talk that Rama !as not able to kill his enemies !ithout

    depending on others."

    %Ather!ise also , once the Rakshasas recover me they !ould hide me in a place from!here no one can locate me and because of that monkeys !ill not be able to find me out

    nor !ould Rama and 6akshmana be able to find me out. Dven like this all the efforts put

    by you !ould be !asted.) /

    %>ould it not be better if 6ord Rama also comes !ith you?) 1

    %Hey great hero, is it not true that the soul of Rama, his brothers , you and all members ofthe princely dynasty lies in me.) 3

    %Those t!o once they realize that & cannot be saved !ould become !eak !ith sorro!and !ould sacrifice their lives along !ith all monkeys and bears.) 4

    %Hey greatest of all monkeys, having observed chastity as my ideal, & never had at anytime , any desire to even touch another male.) /5

    %7ut in case of the touch of Ravana, it !as done in spite of my chastity because & !as

    not free, & did not have any other go, & !as completely enfeebled and !as done by forcebecause & fell in to his hands.) /$

    %&t !ould be proper for Rama , if he kills the ten headed Rakshasa along !ith hisrelatives and takes me along !ith him.) /*

    %& have heard nay seen the great valour of that great man in killing his enemies in !arand & kno! that neither devas nor Rakshasas nor Pannagas are e0ual to Rama in !ar.)/

    %>ho !ill think of fighting !ith that Raghava !ho holds the great bo! called 8odanda,

    !ho is very strong, !ho is e0ual to &ndra in valor , !ho is like the fire kindled by !ind in

    !ar and !ho is !ith 6akshmana , after kno!ing him.) /-

    %Hey chief of monkeys, >ho !ould think of opposing that Raghava !ho is like the

    elephants guarding the directions, !ho kills enemies in !ar, !ho is !ith 6akshmana and!ho stands unperturbed like the Sun at the time of deluge !ith arro!s as his rays.) /

    %Hey great monkey, please make my lord surrounded by 6akshmana and the severalarmy chieftains arrive here. Hey valorous monkey, make me, !ho is dro!ned in sorro!

    because of forever thinking about Rama, happy.) //

    Thus ends the thirty seenth chapter of Sundara Kanda which

    is in the Ramayana which is the first epic written by Valmiki.

    Thirty ei!hth Chapter (:iving of Bhoodamani*"

    (Hanuman appreciates Sita for her noble !ords. She then tells him about the story of acro! attacking her and ho! Rama sent a 9hurba grass !ith manthra of 7rahmasthra to

    kill him. She !onders !hy he is not doing it no!.She gives her Bhoodamani as a

    memento to Hanuman so that Rama !ill have faith that Hanuman has indeed seen her."

    That chief of monkeys hearing this and being one !ho can analyze and understand

    !ords, became happy on hearing these !ords and told the follo!ing to Sita.$

    %Hey holy lady !ho tells that !hich is good, !hatever you have told is etremely suitable

    to your character and also suitable to the humility and !omanly character of virtuousladies.) *

    %7ecause the character of ladies is not capable to cross the ocean of one hundred yo2anasbroad , making me as a vehicle.)

    %Hey lady !ho !ears humility as an ornament, your !ords that, )you !ould not allo!

    the touch any other male ecept Rama), !hich you told as your second reason is verysuitable to you !ho is the !ife of that great man. Hey holy lady, !ho else ecept you

    can tell such a sentence?) -+

    (%&nspite of the pitiful sorro! state !ithout bothering about her release from the clutches

    of Ravana, thinking only of 2ust duty, only you can tell %& !ould not come !ith you)"

    %Hey holy lady, !hatever you have told and did in front of me , all those things !ould be

    informed immediately to Rama.) /

    %Hey holy lady, & told you like this !ith a loving and merciful mind, !ith a intense desire

    to do good to Rama in various !ays.) 1

    %& told you like this because of the difficulty in crossing the !ide ocean, because of the

    difficulty in entering the city of 6anka and because of the faith in my strength.) 3

    %& !anted you to be re2oined !ith Rama immediately and because of intense devotion

    and love & told you like this and not !ith any other intention.) 4

    %Hey holy one, because you do not have an intention of accompanying me, please give amemento so that Rama !ould understand the truth !ithout any doubt.) $5

    Thus told by Hanuman that Sita !ho !as like a divine lady started slo!ly telling the

    follo!ing !ith !ords mingled !ith tears. $$

    %Please inform !hatever & tell , !hich is true and !hich is kno!n to him ,using the same!ords to my lord. %&n the Bhitra 8oota mountains , in the north !est valley, in the shore

    of river ;andakini, in the hermitage blessed !ith fruits, roots and !ater , after spending

    time !ith different flo!ers and the aroma filled gardens and thus getting tired you !erelying do!n !ith your head on my lap.)) $*+$-

    %'t that time one cro! !hich !as attracted by flesh attacked me !ith his sharp beak and

    & drove it a!ay using a piece of mud .) $

    %7ut that flesh eating cro! desiring for food did not leave the meat and !ent on attacking

    me and remained around there.) $/

    %& got angry !ith the bird and !hen & removed my dress belt , my dress got unloosened

    and in that state & !as seen by you.) $1

    %& !ho !as tired due to anger because & !as pecked by the cro! !hich !as desirous of

    food !as teased by you. 7ecause of this & !as very shy but in spite of that & came nearer

    to you and sat on your lap as you !ere sitting. ou became happy and & !as slo!lyconsoled of my anger by you.) $3+$4

    %Ah, 6ord & !ho !as slo!ly !iping a!ay the tears !hich made all my face !et , !asunderstood by you as having been made very angry by the cro!.) *5

    %9ue to tiresomeness & slept on the lap of Raghava and the brother of 7haratha in turnsleep on my lap. 'gain the same cro! reached there.) *$

    %That cro! seeing me completely recovered due to my sleep on the lap of Rama suddenly

    came near me and !ounded my breasts.) **

    %6ike this that cro! came near me several times and inflicted severe !ounds and 6ord

    Rama !as made !et by the flo!ing drops of blood.) *

    %That lord !ho !as deep asleep , terror to his enemies and very pretty even then !as

    !oken up by me !ho !as severely attacked by the cro!.) *-

    %That great one seeing that my breasts !ere !ounded became very angry and hissing like

    a serpent asked as follo!s.) *

    %Hey lady !ho has thighs like the trunk of an elephant, !ho inflicted that !ound on your

    breasts and !ho is playing !ith the very angry five headed snake?) */

    %Seeing all round he sa! 2ust opposite to me that cro! !hose sharp nails are coated !ith

    blood.) *1

    %That cro! !as the son of &ndra, foremost among birds and in speed !as e0ual to the:od of !ind and due to this he disappeared in to the earth immediately.) *3

    %That great one !ho !as foremost among the intelligent !ith rotating angry eyes due to

    the cro! , took a very cruel decision.) *4

    %He took one 9urbha from the 9urbha mat on !hich he !as sitting chanted the manthrafor 7rahmasthra and that !hich !as aimed at the bird lighted like the fire of hell.E 5

    (1rahmasthra was the ultimate weapon during those times .t was got as a blessing from

    5ord 1rahma. t was belie+ed that once it is sent and failed no other weapon will work.

    Also it was belie+ed that without inflicting an wound it cannot be recalled ./ama wasblessed with 1rahmasthra by 7iswamithra.)

    %He then sent the burning 9urbha to!ards the cro!. >hat to say, from that time that9urbha started chasing the cro! in the sky.) $

    %'t that time that cro! !hich !as chased !ent in search of protectors all over the !orldand !hat to say visited several places.) *

    %&n spite of !andering and searching in all the three !orlds and being forsaken by

    sages, devas and its o!n father , it again came back to Rama.)

    %That 8akustha !ho is a protector seeing the bird lying on the earth seeking his

    protection, though it !as fit to be killed, !ith mercy gave protection to it.) -

    %Seeing that shamed one !ho !as lying there !ithout any other option, he said

    %7rahmasthra cannot go !aste and so tell me !hat to do?) %

    %&t said, %&f it is so , let it take a!ay my right eye.) 'nd that arro! took a!ay the right

    eye of the cro!.) /

    %&t saved itself by sacrificing its right eye and from that time the fact that cro!s have only

    one eye became !ell kno!n.) 1

    %&t offered salutations to Rama and the king 9asaratha and being permitted to depart by

    that hero , it !ent to its home.) 3

    %Hey 6ord of the earth, for my sake , in case of the cro!, you used 7rahmasthra and !hy

    have you tolerated him !ho has stolen me from your custody?) 4

    %Hey great man, you !ho are greatly enthusiastic like that , take mercy on me. Hey 6ord

    & !ho have taken as my 6ord(protector" can be seen by you as an orphan (i.e. !ithout

    protector" % -5

    %& have heard only from you that the greatest 9harma(2ust action" is to remove the

    sorro! of others % -$

    %7eing my 6ord, & have understood him as as a great hero, great enthusiast, very strongman, man capable of limitless action, one !ho cannot be rattled by others, one !ho is

    similar to sea in looks, one !ho is like &ndra to this earth surrounded by the sea.) -*

    %&n spite of being like this and being greatest among archers, truthful and very strong,

    !hat is the reason for his not sending his arro!s against the Rakshasas.) -

    %There are no =agas nor :andar!as nor 'suras nor ;arutganas !ho have sufficient

    strength to face a !ar !ith Rama.) --

    %&f that great hero has at least slightest belief in me !hy is he not destroying the

    Rakshasas !ith his arro!s.) -

    %>hy is it 6akshmana !ho is very strong, !ho gives pain to his enemies and !ho is a

    hero not take me back after seeking permission from his brother.) -/

    %>hy are both these !ho are like lion among men, !ho are as po!erful as ind

    :od" and 'gni(Cire :od" and !ho cannot be faced by even the 9evas disregarding me?)

    %Since both these t!o capable and victorious ones are not even bothered about me,

    there is no doubt that a great sin !hich is not kno!n to me should have been committed

    %Hey holy lady, & am telling you after taking oath on truth that Rama is not interested in

    any thing because of the sorro! about you. 7ecause Rama is dro!ned in sorro!

    6akshmana also is sorro!ful.) 5

    %Hey lady !ithout blemish, you !ho are a great lady !as seen by me due to blessings of

    :od and this is not the time for sorro! for 2ust no! you are going to see the end of yoursorro!s.) $

    %Those t!o princes !ho are both very strong and !ho both are lion among men in thegreat !ish for seeing you are going to make the city of 6anka in to ash.) *

    %Hey broad eyed lady, Raghava is going to kill the cruel Ravana along !ith his relatives

    and take you back to his o!n city.)

    %Please tell me those !ords !hich should be told to Raghava, the indomitable

    6akshmana, the great hero Sugreeva and the assembled monkeys.) -

    Thus told by Hanuman that goddess like Sita !ho has !ilted by sorro! thus replied toHanuman, the monkey.

    %Please give my salutations to that great one !ho !as given birth by the great minded8ausalya for the good of the !orld and en0uire about his !elfare.) /

    (ita implies that since Kausalya ga+e birth to /ama for the good of the world he would

    not disregard her and sa+e her)

    %That great holy one !ho !as born as a good son of Sumithra sacrificed because of his

    devotion to Rama all his garlands, his 2e!els , ladies !ho used to love him, that !ealth

    !hich cannot be earned in spite of great effort in this earth and incomparable pleasuresand follo!ed Rama after !orshipping his father and mother and taking their permission

    and accompanied the great 8akustha in the forest protecting him.) 1+4

    %That great minded , handsome great !arrior !ho !as like a lion !as doing service to me

    like his mother and to Rama like his father.) /5

    %>hen & !as being abducted the great hero 6akshmana !as not near me 6akshmanaserves the elders !ell and he is

    %That 6akshmana !ho is al!ays dear to Rama , !ho obeys him al!ays !ho is very

    careful and !ho is a relation !ithout any guile is one to !hom en0uiries of !elfare

    should be made on my behalf.) /-

    %Hey chief of monkeys similar to the fact that Rama !ould be the cause of ending my

    sorro!s, you are responsible for me to complete this 2ob.) /

    %Raghava because of your effort should take all necessary steps in my case and so please

    tell again and again my 6ord !ho is a hero, the follo!ing.) //

    %& am telling on oath , hey son of 9asaratha, & !ould be alive for one more moth and

    very po!erful Rakshasas , destroy that army and !ould return back happily to the placeof the monkey king.) $

    by the speed of his great thighs started breaking the trees. $-

    That heroic Hanuman then destroyed that private ladies garden !hich !as full of several

    euberant birds and several trees. $

    That garden !ith the broken trees, filled up fountains and po!dered peaks became a

    place one !ould not like to see. $/

    That forest filled !ith cries of several types of birds , lakes made out of shape and faded

    red leaf buds became filled !ith dried trees and climbers as if it !as attacked by forestfire. $1

    Those climbing plants !ith the broken fences looked like !omen trembling out of fear.

    >ith destroyed houses made of climbers, broken art museums, !ith crushed big snakes,

    !ith many violent animals and !ith broken granite stone houses that great forest lookedas it had lost its normal appearance. $4

    That very special enclosure of the garden made by the climbing 'soka plants meant forthe en2oyment of !omen of the ten faced one !as full of broken and !eeping plants. *5

    destroyed as !ell as the great monkey hero.

    Hanuman !ho !as very courageous, !ho !as very strong and !ho had bid arms seeing

    them assumed a very big form so that the Rakshasis become afraid. -

    Then those Rakshasis seeing that the monkey !as very strong and having a very big

    body asked the daughter of @anaka as follo!s.

    Hearing the !ords of the Rakshasis, Ravana the king of Rakshasas , rolled his eyes inanger and burnt like the sacrificial fire. **

    Crom the t!o eyes of the angry one tears dropped as if oil drops mied !ith flames

    dropped from t!o lit lamps. *

    That shining one gave order to destroy the pride of Hanuman to Rakshasa called 8inkara

    !ho are similar to him and are valorous. *-(3Kinkara4 means lowly ser+ants)

    Those valorous 8inkaras !ho had very big belly . , !ho had very big teeth and !ho!ere horrible looking !ere eighty thousand in number . 'll of them !ith a desire for !ar

    and !ith a desire to catch the monkey left the house armed !ith thorny sticks and an arm

    (Having destroyed the aska forest, Hanuman decided to destroy a very huge stage nearby.

    the arrival of Sugreeva along !ith his monkey army !ho are going to destroy the city of6anka and the Rakshasas living there."

    That very po!erful and great hero Hanuman seeing that his effort !as !asted uprooted a

    huge sala tree and started rotating it. $/

    Seeing that the monkey rotating the sala tree as a strong one , that very strong @ambumali

    send several arro!s at him. $1

    He pierced the sala tree !ith four arro!s, !ounded the hands of the monkey !ith five

    arro!s, his chest by one arro! and middle of his chest by ten arro!s. $3

    >ounded all over the body by those arro!s, Hanuman became very angry and took thesame pestle and started rotating it . $4

    That very fast and very strong Hanuman rotated the pestle !ith great speed and beat at

    the broad chest of @ambumali. *5

    7ecause of this his head disappeared and so did his arms , knees , bo!s, chariot and

    horses. His arro!s also disappeared. *$

    7eat strongly by Hanuman, that great !arrior @ambumali after loosing his limbs andornaments fell dead on the earth. **

    Ravana hearing about the death of @ambumali and similarly about the killing of the verystrong 8inkaras became very angry !ith blood shot eyes. *

    That king of Rakshasas after the death of the very strong @ambumali , rotated his eyes dueto anger and immediately ordered the very valorous ministers sons to go. *-

    Dach of them competing !ith each other to be in the front and !earing ornaments made

    of gold prepared themselves for !as and neared Hanuman sitting near the gate. /

    Those cloud like Rakshasas coming !ith the thundering sound of chariots, send rains ofarro!s like thick clouds. 1

    't that time Hanuman covered by the raining arro!s looked like a mountain hidden by

    rain. 3

    The fast moving monkey rose and traveled in the clear sky and !asted the arro!s as !ellas the speeding chariots. 4

    That hero playing in the sky !ith those great archers appeared as if he !as god of !indin the cloud filled sky. $5

    That heroic Hanuman by making horror stricken sound made that great army shiver and

    soon sho!ed his valor against that army. $$

    Hanuman, the !inner of enemies , killed some by beating !ith his hand, some by legs,

    some by fists, some by tearing !ith nails some by crushing !ith his chest and legs andsome died by simply hearing the roar of Hanuman. $*+$

    Dlephants trumpeted making ugly sound, horses fell do!n on the earth , and the platform

    of chariots, flags and umbrellas of broken chariots covered the entire earth. $

    That monkey approached him !ho !as raining arro!s from the sky, like the !ind at theend of rainy season nears the raining cloud. *

    Then that clever son of !ind+god , !ho !as attacked by 9urdhara, increased in size more

    than before and roared !ith a huge sound. *-

    That very intelligent monkey rose up to a very great height in the sky and suddenly

    2umped on the chariot of 9urdhara like the fire of thunder. *

    Then that 9urdhara left his chariot !ith eight dead horses and !hose ale !as broken

    and fell out lifeless. */

    !arriors !ith it and killed them. 5

    Then Praghasa seeing that the strong monkey has killed all the three of them , opposed

    the monkey !ith great anger and force. $

    The great hero 7hasakarna from one side took a spear and became very angry at theunperturbed and famous monkey chief. *

    7hasakarna pierced the great monkey by his spear and Praghasa pierced him !ith a long

    handed sharp spear.

    That monkey !ounded by those t!o !as angry !ith all his hair getting blood soaked andlooked like the shining young sun. -

    That monkey chief and great !arrior Hanuman uprooted a peak of mountain !hich !asfull of animals, snakes and trees and killed the t!o rakshasas.

    'fter killing those five army army+commanders , then destroyed their remaining army.

    6ike the thousand eyed &ndra opposing the rakshasas that monkey killed horses by

    horses, elephants by elephants , soldiers by soldiers and chariots by chariots. 1

    Bovered fully by the dead elephants , dead horses , ale broken big chariots and dead

    Rakshasas , the earth became path less. 3

    Then the monkey chief after killing those chiefs of army along !ith their soldiers

    returned back to the gate and !aited there similar to the :od of death !aiting to kill the

    people. 4
