Himachal Pradesh- The perfect Summer Holiday Destination
The intense Summer heat brings a certain unexplainable wanderlust for cool and hilly picturesque
places. The desire is further strengthened by movies and songs depicting some really amazing hilly
and chilly locations.
Himachal Pradesh is one such summer holiday destination and has been featured in many films.
Infact, for some movie lovers like us, Himachal Pradesh is synonymous to the song from Bollywood
movie “Jab we met” (Kareenakapoor dancing in yellow kurta amongst traditional Himachali crowd,
remember anyone?)
Another reason to visit Himachal this summer, and especially if you are single (wink wink) is that
local Himachali people are beautiful. Blessed with glowing skin, smooth hair and huge eyes, the
beauty gene is found in abundance. Now wonder some of our very popular and gorgeous actresses
belong to the state.
But the best beauty award goes to the state itself. Alpine forests that are lush and dense, Snow clad
hills and mountains, walking trails with flower and fruit rich trees on either side makes this place a
wonderful getaway from the daily hustle and bustle.
Today we discuss the top three places you must visit, while you are spending your summer in the
beautiful state with your friends or family.
1. Shimla
Any Himachal trip is incomplete without visiting Shimla. Widely popular as the summer capital of
colonial India, Shimla’s mall road is one of the lengthiest shopping hubs in entire India. Shimla is
perennially cool. Cool climes, pine and deodar rich hills, romantic walking trails et all. Other famous
places to visit apart from mall road are: Christ Church, Shimla Ridge, Tara Devi Temple and Summer
Hills town.
2. Dalhousie
This hilly area is named after former Viceroy Lord Dalhousie. If you want to avoid the crowd and
hustle bustle usually found in Shimla, this is a great place to spend your holiday. This place is chilly
even when the rest of the country is sweating in the heat. Beautiful houses (colonial style) offer
spectacular view of the surrounding scenic beauty. Kaltop wildlife sanctuary is a must see, while
you are in Dalhousie.
3. Dhramshala
Dharamshala is surrounded by snowy peaks on three sides and hosted His Holiness Dalai Lama
once. It is home to a number of Tibetan refugees and Buddhist monks. This is a sure shot way to
gather in insight into the Buddhist way of life.
Other than that, the area offers great trekking opportunities to surrounding hills and is the take-off
point for the another beautiful hill station of McLeodGanj. When in Dharamshala, you get to see
expansive sloping tea estates. Museums and Temples. If you are a cricket fan, you may be lucky to
catch a cricket match in the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium.
So get up, pull up your socks (and other warm clothes) and get set go to the chilly state of Himachal
Pradesh !!
