Traditional oil-free compressors have lower air end lifetime and efficiency when compared to oil lubricated screw compressors. Though the rotors are made of carbon steel and have thick coating, the efficiency of the machine decreases dramatically with the wearing of the coatings which lead to a high failure rate of the high pressure rotors.

The latest screw rotors developed by Sullair are engineered to maintain long-term stability and efficiency by utilising a special profile, high quality materials and superior coating for both low and high pressure rotors.

Control Panel

The advanced control Panel on the DS series oil free compressors has enhanced Protection, Communication and Remote Control features also allowing for multi-computer networking and centralized control.

Motor

All motors used on the DS series Oil free compressors are high efficiency, TEFC motors with F/H Class insulation and IP55 protection in line with current MEPS standards. The motors are designed to facilitate continuous use of the machine under full load conditions.

Gear Box Breather

The DS series Oil free Compressors come with a precise vacuum generating system to ensure 100% oil free output air quality. This is achieved through the use of a stable venture injection device. The Gear box is maintained under negative pressure to ensure no oil mist is produced. The negative pressure gauge can also be set on site.

Independent Oil System

The DS series oil free compressor is equipped with a state of the art lubrication system providing the machine with adequate lubrication during all stages of operation. This includes prelubricating the equipment before start and maintaining the lubrication at low speeds after turning off the compressor. Adequate lubrication is also ensured with VSD machines when running on lower loads. The oil pump provided can be operated manually to circulate the oil when the compressor is not in operation for long durations.

Air End

At the heart of the DS series Oil Free compressor is Sullair’s World renowned air end with our patented dry screw profile based on decades of product experience and the latest technological updates. • Stainless steel rotors on the high pressure airend.• Floating carbon rings and labyrinth oil seal ensure zero contamination of oil in the airend.

Air Filter

The DS series oil free screw compressor comes with high quality air filtration to ensure minimal contamination of compressed air.• Large filter area ~30% larger than conventional filters• Cyclopac filter housing to pre-filter large particulates• Low pressure drop across the filter• Easy maintenance and replacement.

Bearing

The DS series compressors are fitted with heavy duty Roller bearings specially made to ensure Precision fitting with low frictional losses. The bearings are designed for a L10 lifetime of 100,000 hours.

Inlet Control Valve

The specially designed Load/unload Inlet control valve on the DS machines are made for oil free compressors and provide high reliability and low unloading power. With pneumatic control, quick and easy change between load and unload, the inlet control valve designed for long life and frequent loading and unloading of the compressor.

Coolers

The intercooler and aftercooler on the DS machines are shell and tube type designed for high heat transfer with low temperature rise and are easy to clean. The coolers also come equipped with integrated two stage condensate separator.

The oil cooler on the DS series compressors is optimally sized shell and tube type cooler made of Stainless steel.

Variable Speed Drive

Sullair VSD Compressor Compressed air is an important but energy intensive utility. Energy costs associated with operating an air compressor exceed 70% of the life cycle costs. Analysis of different load profiles in various industry show up to 70% variation in actual consumption of compressed air. Up to 35% of the energy costs associated can be saved by using the right type of air compressor.

The Sullair DS series Oil free compressors are designed to provide the system with unsurpassed flexibility and reliability improving the overall system efficiency. Within the operating frequency range, the DS range machines maintain the highest power factor on the motor effectively improving product reliability and performance at reduced loads. The VSD units also eliminate the need for Star Delta or other starters and avoids high starting currents thereby extending equipment life and reducing operating costs.

Controller

The DS series VSD machines come with an integrated controller that optimises the performance of the air compressor.

VSD Motors

The DS series compressors come with Invertor duty motors with increased insulation strength to improve endurance and provide longer life. The motors are designed to provide adequate cooling to the windings even at low speeds. The motors utilize a special electromagnetic design, effectively reducing harmful effects of harmonics and improve the output torque of the motor at low frequencies.
