Kansai Gaidai (関西外大): Asian Studies Program

Because TCNJ has a direct exchange with Kansai Gaidai, TCNJ tuition covers tuition at Kansai Gaidai. Starting in the 2007-2008 academic year, TCNJ began hosting exchange students from Kansai Gaidai. In 2008-2009 we expect to welcome two students for the full academic year.

Institution: Kansai-Gaidai is a private institution that offers both undergraduate andgraduate degrees as well as an Asian Studies program specifically designed forinternational students. Kansai-Gaidai currently enrolls around 13,500 students and hasinternational partnerships with 236 institutions in 40 different countries. Location:  Hirakata city (pop.: 408,000) near Osaka city, the second largest business metropolis next to Tokyo. Hirakata is also close to Kyoto, Japan’s capital for morethan a thousand years. Courses: Students studying abroad at Kansai Gaidai enroll in the Asian StudiesProgram, which is specifically designed for international students. Students in this program take Japanese courses in the morning and Social Sciences, Humanities,Business/Economics, and Studio Art courses in the afternoon. Four courses, includingSpoken Japanese, are the minimum required semester load (14 semester credits) forrecognition as a full-time student. Housing:  Homestay, dormitory, or off-campus housing.
