SAVE THE WORLDSAVE ENERGYNot in use? Turn off the juice! A single compact fluorescent bulbcan produce hundreds of pounds of carbon dioxide each year. Imagine how much leaving your lights, computer, TV, or stereoon while you’re gone produces each year!

SAVE TREESTrees are great. They pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, reduce soil erosion, and make our planet more beautiful. You canhelp save them by only printing what you absolutely need to, andprinting double-sided when you have to. Don’t forget to recyclethat paper when you’re done with it, too!

SAVE WATERReducing your daily shower time to five minutes a day can save

thousands of gallons of drinkable water per year. While you’reat it, quit drinking pre-bottled water. It uses more water thandrinking straight from the tap - often from areas affected by

drought - and creates much more waste than a reusable bottle.

SAVE GASChampaign-Urbana is one of the most bike-friendly communities

in America. Walk or ride a bike when you can, and when youcan’t, consider taking a bus instead of driving.

WELCOMEto one of the greenestcampuses in america

Over a dozen buildings are Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Certified or pursuing certification, meeting international standards for green construction.

A 20-acre solar farm on the south side of campus supports 2% of campus’s electricity needs. Many buildings also have rooftop solar panels.

University Dining and Catering Services buys 28% of its food from local sources - and almost all the tomato sauce served in the residence halls is grown and processed on campus!

The Illinois Climate Action Plan (iCAP) provides a roadmap for campus’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050.
