Students from GAS are also able to do general work as Teacher Assistants, Production Staff, and the like.

FCS SHS, on its second year of operation, pulled through the new DepEd curriculum. With its enhanced offering to the students,

FCS is committed to ensuring quality education that will spell academic excellence, moral development and holistic lifelong learning, which make the students college and life-ready. The academic year was wrapped up by the Commencement Exercises for Graduation and Recognition Day. Keynote Speaker, Mr. Alden E. Habacon, grandson of founder, Diversity and Inclusion Strategist, Public Speaker in Canada, USA and Asia, gave the graduates nuggets of wisdom that they can use when they actually go out into the world for collegiate and professional life.

A commemorative event happened last April 6, 2018 at Word for the World Sanctuary. International Christian Academy (ICA) Paranaque held its 32nd graduation day for elementary students, 24th Moving Up Ceremony for our preschool, 3rd Completion Ceremony for our Junior High School and 1st Gradua-tion Ceremony for our Senior High School students, all in one big milestone. It was not just simply an ordinary achievement, but one that marks a transformation in the lives of our students.

God is indeed faithful, His love and guidance to His children is really immea-surable. Graduating and finishing a school year is a challenge to all of us, teachers, students as well as to parents. Seeing our students graduate and receiving their diplomas and awards on stage is such a

MGC New Life Christian Academy has, since its conception, dedicated itself and its work to the glory of God. It started as a small school, teaching a total of only thirty-three students in a house. Twen-ty-five years later, MGCNLCA has trans-formed, by the grace of God, into an institution with over a thousand students, all housed in its 10-storey campus in the Fort, Taguig.

As a Chinese Christian school, MGCNLCA has persisted with its original vision and mission—to raise morally upright leaders of the 21st Century, all of whom may glorify the Lord’s Name. In its 25th year of operation, MGCNLCA aimed to give back glory to God through a series of celebra-tions. On the first two days of December 2017, MGCNLCA opened its doors to the public,

very fullfilling sight to see. Another chapter had ended and yet, new doors of challenges, fun and opportunities have been opened for these students to explore. It will not be easy but then, in ICA , we believe that God will be with them.

Our guest speaker, ACSI Country Director, Ms. Evelyn M. Malabunga-Bumatay, gave a very inspiring message to our students. She did not just deliver a congratulatory message , but she encouraged them to do more , to give more, to offer more of what they have in their next endeavors in life especially to our Senior High School graduates for the glory of God. Over 300 distinguished guests, family and friends attended the ceremony to share in the success of our graduates. The management and staff of ICA wish all our graduates success in their future studies, and we proudly congratulate them on their academic achieve-

ments and successful graduation. This year’s graduation theme was “You Shall be My Witnesses” with the theme verse from Romans 15:17-18 "Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done." The theme defines the calibre and mindset of the school gradu-ates, which are young people who are brave enough to face the world that is full of challenges; students with a global outlook, and are trained as 21st century learners of this modern generation. Above all, they are especially transformed into Christlikeness as they embark to another chapter in their lives.

ICA family is proud of them. To God be the glory!

inviting alumni, friends, and families to view and interact with the various departments that make up the school in an open house. The open house commenced with an opening ceremony in the school’s multi-sport gymnasi-um. During the ceremony, the school dedicat-ed its twenty-five years and open house to God with a lineup of performances by the the school’s teachers and students. Teachers and staff who had been a part of the MGCNLCA family for ten and twenty years were acknowl-edged. Also given recognition were the sever-al dedicated individual partners and organiza-tions who contributed to the school’s growth throughout the years.

During the two-day event, guests were free to roam the school’s entire campus, dropping by certain rooms that showcased the various activities and accomplishments of each department and organization of the school. The school’s sixth floor houses the senior high school department, which offered a guided tour through the exhibits of the three academ-ic strands MGCNLCA offers: Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM); Human-ities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); and

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathe-matics (STEM). The sixth floor also houses the lecture hall, where various programs and performances were presented, such as the Media Symposium organized by the 12th Grade class as well as sonnet performances by selected 9th Grade students.

The rest of the school housed various exhib-its from subject departments, such as English, Math, and Filipino, where guests could view various works accomplished by students. Exhibits by student organizations, such as the Student Council and school publications, also showcased the student-run projects and plans. On the ground floor, a showcase of the school’s overwhelming grace from God, was a timeline of its most important milestones—from its first few years as a small school, to its move to Taguig, to finally, its expansion through its new building, a physical symbol of MGCNLCA’s staggering

growth.

Though the open house concluded at the end of the second day, the celebration and thanksgiv-ing has not halted. The school will continue to praise and give glory to God for his blessings and grace. As an extension of the celebrations, MGCNLCA will proudly present a Christmas cantata entitled “Everlasting Light” set to be held on December 7 and 8 of 2018. The cantata will be directed by Ms. Delia Yu and will star students from Grades 4 to 12. The cantata will revolve around the premise of Jesus’ everlasting grace, and the light He brings to everyone’s lives—something that MGCNLCA can undoubt-edly pose a testament to.

Some of life’s transitions are voluntary, whereas as others may be involuntary in that they are forced on us. Acts 8 describes an involuntary transition in the life of the early church. Great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem (including imprison-ment and even death, for example, of Stephen, the first martyr in the early church) and Christians there were forced to scatter elsewhere—to places like Judea and Samaria. In Acts 8:4-8, we read:

Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralyt-ics and cripples were healed. So there was great joy in that city.

Transition, as involuntary as it may have been, did not stop the believers in the early church from sharing the Good News of the Gospel wherever they went (v. 4-5). Transition did not stop God from doing His transforming work as His people ministered (v. 6-7). As a result, there was great joy in the city of Samaria (v. 8).

I have always been captivated by verse 8, “So there was great joy in that city.” Why was there joy in Samaria? Because the Gospel, which was shared by those in transition (i.e., people scattered by persecu-tion), was transforming lives and bringing physical and spiritual healing to people in that city.Do you believe our church, while in the midst of transition, can be filled with joy and as an outflow of that bring joy to many in our cities and communities? I sure hope so!

God wants to use us to serve Him. He wants us to use our gifts to strengthen his body, the church. Paul tells the Roman Christians, “In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.” Romans 12:6Paul listed seven different gifts: “So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encour-age others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” Romans 12: 6-8

Imagine you’re at a table in a restaurant with your close friends, about to share some delicious dessert. You see one of your friends about to stick his fork into their piece of cherry pie. As the fork descends toward the dessert, you notice that the plate is dangerously close to the edge of the table. Before you have time to warn them, they push their fork into the pie and it plops into their lap. What you do next might be a clue to your gift:

No matter what your gift, God has given it to you not just to make your life better but to serve Him and others in the church, in school, at home, and in your community. Go and serve.

Joy in the Midst of Transitions – Acts 8by Pastor David Jebaratnam, Midland Evangelical Church, MI, USA

• First, in order to bring joy to others, we need to be filled with joy ourselves. Are you joyful presently? Will you remain joyful during this transition, even if it is a long transition? Will your joy be contagious—that others in our church will catch it from you and be filled with joy themselves? If our joy is truly found in Christ Jesus, then the answer to all of these questions will be a resounding YES!• Second, any difficulties or challenges we may encounter during the transition pale in comparison to the priority of sharing the Good News of the Gospel with those outside of our faith. This was true of the believers in the early church. Is this true of you? Are you able to “keep the main thing the main thing,” instead of focusing on yourself and feeling like a victim of the transition?• Third, do you believe that God can use the transition as a means to “make His name famous among all peoples for His own glory,” which, as we have been learning, is the overarching story line of the whole Bible?

Will you commit yourself to praying that the LORD will fill your heart with joy during this transition in our church? Will you commit yourself to be a catalyst in taking that joy to your neighborhood, workplace, and community? Will you commit to “keeping the main thing the main thing” during this transition?Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiv-ing, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippi-ans 4:4-7)

1. Do you jump up and offer to help? Do you grab a napkin and rush to do whatever you can to clean up the mess? If so, you probably have the spiritual gift of serving.

2. Do you look at the poor victim an offer wise advice? “You know, there really is a better way to eat pie. First, you should always keep it half an arm’s length from the edge of the table.” If you’re inclined to lead a Bible study on the subject, you might say, “You know, this incident reminds me of when Jesus gathered with his disciples at a table. In fact, I discovered that the Greek word for table is …” If you find yourself offering instructions, you likely have the gift of teaching.3. If you slap your leg, laugh out loud, and exclaim that you have done far dumber things, because you want to make your friend feel better about what happened, you probably have the gift of encouragement.

4. If you offer to buy your friend another piece of pie and then offer dessert to everyone else at the table, you can be sure you have the gift of giving.

5. If you start organizing a crew, getting everyone else to follow your detailed instructions to clean things up, you have the gift of leadership.

6. And if you look on and say, “Wow, I can’t believe you didn’t notice how close your plate was to the edge of the table. You should have seen that coming,” chances are that you have the gift of prophecy.
