UWLSU is a registered charity and company, located on each campus at UWL. All current students are automatically members of the students’ union. We want them to have the best time, and ultimately we want to see them graduate with the skills and knowledge to be excellent employees. We believe that people succeed by coming together to share skills, combat issues and generally have a laugh. So, we build communities and provide opportunities for this to happen. Almost 90% of the people we employ are graduates or current students of UWL and they design and deliver the majority of our work. To ensure this continues, we offer graduate internships and student staff positions in the following areas: representation, research, democracy, finance, community development, events, communication and commercial services.

For the last two years, the National Union of Students (NUS) has recognised our commitment to providing a great working environment by presenting us with an award for highest employee engagement. We are accredited with an Investors in People award and last year our staff we’re 100% satisfied with their working experience (up from 98% the year before) according to survey undertaken by an independent research company.
