Mr. Caparas graces

the CEO Forum by: Gleanne Veana Vazquez, Seventh Grade Valiant Knight

Mr. Jaydee Caparas was the guest speaker for this term’s CEO Forum held at the SSIS Main Hall, last December 4 where the High School Students of both Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) Departments participated in.

Mr. Caparas is a loving father of two of our Valiant Knights, Nicola and Jayda Caparas. Moreover, he is also a Certified Public Accountant and the Philippine Savings Bank’s (PSBank) Vice President.

He discussed how different generations can benefit from banks. Traditionalists (born in 1945 or before), Baby Boomers (born in 1946-1964), Generation X (born in 1965 to 1976), Millennials (born in 1977 to 1995), and the Gen X (born in 1996 and later) are the reasons why banks and other businesses advertise and introduce numerous ideas and concepts.

Other than that, someone who couldn’t read until the fourth grade and now a Vice President of one of the biggest running banks in the Philippines, has inspired our Valiant Knights.

“I like how it was very detailed. He gave a bigger view because he discussed about technology progressing. He also gave the idea that there will be lots of changes,” said Princess Paula Margaret De Chavez, a Seventh Grade Valiant Knight and one of the participants in the said forum.

SSIS Welcomes the Spirit of Christmas December 13 marks the official start of the Christmas celebration in SSIS. This will be a very

busy but festive day for the students, teachers, admin staff, and parents as they take on their

respective duties in the Christmas Program and Christmas Bazaar.

Surely, the late afternoon and the early evening will be a feast for the senses- see the

graceful moves of the students, hear the music, smell and taste the food, touch the trinkets, and

feel the Christmas spirit.

Prepare yourself for entertainment. The first to take the center stage are the ECED

pupils. They are going to dance and sing some Christmas songs which will make our body

groove. Their presentation will be followed by the performances of the Grade School students.

Some of the songs which they are going to sing are It's Not Christmas Without You, Just Love

Ngayong Christmas, Beautiful Christmas, My Only Wish, and a lot more. Moreover, The Junior High

School and Senior High School students will ignite the stage with their presentations which include

Extraordinary Merry Christmas, Sleigh Ride, We Need a Little Christmas, and some other songs

which will awaken the spirit of Christmas in everyone.

The school library is going to be closed during

the entire Christmas vacation. This is for maintenance

purposes and to give chance to the school’s librarian to

do inventory. The students who wish to take SRC

quizzes may take on the first day of the resumption of

classes, January 08, 2018.

Last Wednesday, December 06, Santa Claus visited SSIS

to have a photo opportunity with the students. As it was the Mufti Day, the students happened to be wearing their Colors of Christmas

attire, thereby adding the sense of merriment to the event. The Santa photo op is a project of the GS Student Council

under the leadership of Ina Amparo.

The simple toys that the young Valiant Knights donated will be given as Christmas gifts to the street children in Batangas

City.

OF THE WEEK Simplicity in Words

and Actions

Children love Christmas and look forward to the festivities and excitement it

brings. In fact, this season never fails to bring out that child-like wonder in each

person, both young and old alike. There’s definitely something about this magical

season that makes us wish it was Christmas all year long.

But through the years, the true spirit of Christmas has been overshadowed by

the material presents and iconic symbols. For most kids, Christmas is all about gifts,

toys, new clothes, and shoes, even great food. There’s nothing wrong with

enjoying the material gifts for as long as the real essence of the season is properly

instilled in the hearts of our children.

As parents, let us strive to make Christmas more meaningful for them.

Teaching our children proper Christmas values will be the best gifts we can ever

give for it will be something they will treasure for the rest of their lives:

1. Strengthen their Faith. Jesus is the reason for the season. Even before we

introduce Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and even

Santa Claus, let us share to them the heartwarming story of the infant Jesus

born in the manger – the real symbol of Christmas.

2. Inspire them to Hope. Inspire our children to dream, to wish, to hope for greater

things in life. Christmas is the best time to share our hopes and dreams as a

family. It is also the perfect opportunity to appreciate the goodness in every

one, as well as the blessing that they are in our lives.

3. Celebrate Love. Christmas is truly a celebration of love. Encourage your

children to do random acts of kindness for their friends, family, and others.

Write each other a Christmas “love message,” and tell your children how much

you love and care for them.

4. Bond as a Family. Have fun and enjoy the traditional festivities of the season as

a family – sing favorite Christmas carols or watch a holiday movie together.

Plan a family activity or getaway which we can commit to do traditionally on

Christmas together. What’s important is for our children to cherish the warmth

of family togetherness during this season.

5. Value Simplicity. The real value of a Christmas gift doesn’t have to be

expensive. In fact, simple but meaningful gifts are often more appreciated.

Have our kids make creative arts and crafts as personalized gifts or ask them to

assist us in making home-baked goodies for their friends, teachers, and family.

Show your children that the best gifts are really from the heart.

6. Spread Christmas Joy thru Sharing. Nothing beats that pure joy we can

experience thru giving and sharing. More importantly, it is an honor and

privilege as parents to instill in our children the true meaning and essence of

sharing and spreading the holiday cheer.

7. Be Grateful. Count your blessings! Inspire your kids to be thankful for all the

wonderful gifts they have received, regardless of the value. Teach them to be

grateful most especially for the non-material gifts they are blessed with such as

family, friends, time, love, and many others.
