beautiful process ofbecoming.

We fight that as women, don’t we? We tell ourselves

we have to be it all, do it all, know it all now. We denyourselves permission to

learn. And when we can’tlearn, we can’t grow.

I thought about this recentlyas I stood in the curtainsection of TJ Maxx sayingthese words over and over tomyself: You’re learning todecorate your house. You’relearning to decorate yourhouse. Doesn’t that sound silly? But it was much better thanwhat I said over and over lasttime: You can’t decorate yourhouse. What’s the matter withyou? I thought, somehow, thatbeing born a woman shouldautomatically give me theability to know if the sheer orheavy curtains would lookbetter, which color theyshould be, and how everyshade of light would lookcoming through them. Andwhen I didn’t, I felt like afailure. I’ve had similarexperiences in the photoframe aisle of target, in thebedding section of adepartment store, in thecutest little home decor shopyou’ve ever seen.

You’re Still in Pr ocess… I share this example becauseit’s amazing how small a crackshame needs to slip throughin our lives. When did wedecide to judge ourselves oneverything from our ability topick curtains to how good aparent we are compared to themom next to us? God doesn’t judge us thatway. He knows that “Allpeople are like grass, and alltheir glory is like theflowers of the field” {1 Pt.1:24}. I used to read thatverse as simply meaning lifeis brief. But I’m seeing it withnew eyes lately. And I thinkwhat God is also reminding usof here is that grass isgrowing, flowers are growing,WE are growing . Which means He knows thatfrom our first breath to ourlast, we are in process. Andthat applies to everything frompicking out curtains tobecoming who He’s createdus to be. And you know what? God’sokay with that. He alreadyknows us better than we knowourselves. And if He’s okaywith it, then we can be too.He doesn’t ask us forperfection. Just growth. Everyday, a little bit at a time, all theway until we’re Home withHim. You are not who you were

yesterday,You are not who you will be

tomorrow. You’re in the middle of the

beautiful process ofbecoming.

2014, at Link-Up Bar, in SantaElena, Cayo. The finals was truly a grandChristmas dance as if it was a nationaltournament with Shooters going upagainst the defending champs,Link-Up, whereby it was the best oftwo matches, meaning two teams hadto win four games to become thechamp. In the first match, Shootersstarted shooting sharply by defeatingLink-up, 2-1. For Shooters, GilbertLuna calmly won Juan Villanueva,4-2, and David Fernandez used hissling like when David took downGoliath as he won Jimmy Rudonalso, 4-2. But, Wayne Wiltshir estepped up big time for Link-Up andwon Luis Usher, 4-1, to give his teamhope. So, we off to the second match, and this time it was Link-up defeatingShooters, 2-1. For Link-up, Wayne

Wiltshire won again as he downedDavid Fernandez 4-2, and JimmyRudon shot beautifully over GilbertLuna, 4-2. For Shooters, it was LuisUsher over Erwin Woodye, 4-1. So,

teams are now tied 3-3, and it wasdown to a tie-breaker, where oneplayer from each team played a raceto 4 for the big one. Quite easily twoteams chose their player which wasLuis Usher from Shooters and WayneWiltshire from Link-Up. Wayne wonthe first game which made DavidFernandez, captain of Shooters keptwalking around showing he was a bitnervous and discouraged, while JuanVillanueva, captain of Link-up washyped with the lead saying "we gotthis". But, thereafter, Luis Usher won4 games in a row slicing some shotslike a nice piece of ham and wonWayne, 4-1. Though Luis won 4 in arow, every game was exciting anddown to the wire but Luis won alsoby some huge defensive plays likehow some kids around Christmas timewould hold on to their toys saying this

is mine, and no one will can take itaway. Luis is one of the humblestplayer one can meet, and afterthe game he did not brag butcongratulated Wayne for a great gameas it was not like Wayne was SantaClause giving away any game but Luishad to go into his own bag to pull offsome plays so that Shooters can singthe song: "We are the champs,2014" Before the big dance, Camp Sixand Rookies played for 3rd and4th place, where Camp Sixroughed-up Rookies with RogelioBoteo and Mark Trujillo beingvictorious. The champs, Shooters received:$1,000 from Hon. Rene Montero andtrophies from Hon. Elvin Penner.Sub-champs, Link-Up received:$300 from registration and Link-UpBar, and 3 cases beer from Bowen

4th place, Rookies received: 1 qtblack label from Mr . BY: Lysa TerkeurstContributed by: Janice Swift "Therefore, there is now nocondemnation for those who arein Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1(NIV) Have you ever looked at otherpeople and thought to yourself, "Howdoes everyone else have it alltogether? And why is it I seem tohave so many issues?" I understand. For most of my life,I’ve struggled with my weight andcommitting to a healthy lifestyle. Mysoul was rubbed raw from years oftrying and failing. I wanted something to instantly fixmy issues. I wanted to stop calling myselfawful names I’d never let anotherperson call me. I wanted to be naturally thin like mysister. I wanted to stop crying when Iwalked into my closet to get dressedin the morning. So when I lost 25 pounds a fewyears ago and kept it off for the firsttime in my life, it was a huge victory. But my real celebration hasn’t beenover the smaller clothing size andreduced numbers on the scale. My

real celebration is over the spiritualinsights I gained while losing the weightand maintaining my healthy progress. For me, this has been a spiritualjourney — a significant spiritualjourney with great physical benefits. Ihad been overweight physically andunderweight spiritually and finallytying those two things together waslife changing. One of the richest lessons has beenrealizing the amount of mental andspiritual energy I wasted for years justwishing things would change. All thewhile, I was beating myself up for nothaving the discipline to make thosechanges. If you have an issue with weight andfood, you know what I mean. But nomatter what issue you are currentlydealing with, can I offer a bit ofencouragement? Jesus wants to help you with thatissue. He really does. But you’ve gotto stop beating yourself up about itand determine to follow His lead. We like to identify ourshortcomings, form them into a club, and beat the tar out of ourselvesmentally. Over and over and overagain. We label ourselves and soonlose our real identity to the beaten and

Why Do I Have So Many Issues?

bruised fragility we call "me." We compare, we assume, weassess, we measure and most timeswalk away shaking our head at howwoefully short our "me" fallscompared to everyone else. Howdangerous it is to hold up the intimateknowledge of our imperfectionsagainst the outside packaging ofothers. If there is one thing that living 40-plus years has taught me it’s this: AllGod’s girls have issues. Every singleone of us. But we can make the choice toidentify our shortcomings and insteadof using them against ourselves, handthem over to Jesus and let Him chiselour rough places. The grace-filled way Jesus chiselsis so vastly different than the way Imentally beat myself up. My mental scripts are too oftenfull of exaggerated lies that leave mefeeling defeated. His chiseling is fullof truth that sets me free. *Oh what a difference. *Jesus doesn’t compare. *Jesus doesn’t exaggerate. Jesus doesn’t condemn. Our keyverse, Romans 8:1, confirms this. He simply says, "Hey, I love you.I love you just how you are. But, Ilove you too much to leave youstuck in this. So, let’s work on ittogether. You can do this.” There is something so powerful in

really believing that with Jesus’ helpyou can do this. Say it with me, "Ican." I can is a powerful little twistfor a girl feeling deprived anddefeated. I can helps me walk into the dinnerparty and find the conversation moreappealing than the food table. I canhelps me stay on the perimeter of thegrocery store where the fresher, healthier selections abound and smilethat I know this. I can helps me look at thedrive-thru menu and order a fruit traywithout even giving a thought to thefried foods I used to snack on. I canreminds me to look online for arestaurant’s nutritional informationbefore going out, ensuring wiserchoices. I can reminds me no foodwill ever taste as sweet as victorydoes. Having issues isn’t the absence ofvictory in our lives. It’s simply a callto action reminding us victory is rightaround the corner. Today is a greatday to start believing you were madeto walk in victory and to say to Jesus,"Yes, with Your truth as my guide,I can." Dear Lord, help me see myselfthe way You see me. Remove thelies that defeat me more often thanI want to acknowledge. You haveset me free. Help me live like Itruly believe that. In Jesus’ Name,Amen.

The pilot and co-pilotfinally appear in the rear of the plane, and begin walking up to the cockpitthrough the center aisle. Both appear to be blind. The pilotis using a white cane, bumping intopassengers right and left as hestumbles down the aisle, and theco-pilot is using a guide dog. Bothhave their eyes covered with hugesunglasses. At first the passengers donot react; thinking that it mustbe some sort of practical joke. However, after a few minutes theengines start spooling up and theairplane, starts moving down therunway. The passengers look at each other

Some passengers arepraying, and as the plane gets closerand closer to the end of the runway, the voices are becoming more andmore hysterical. Finally, when theairplane has less than 20 feet of run-way left, there is a sudden change inthe pitch of the shouts as everyonescreams at once, and at the very lastmoment the airplane lifts off and isairborne. Up in the cockpit, the co-pilotbreathes a sigh of relief and turns tothe Captain: "You know, one ofthese days the passengers aren'tgoing to scream, and we are gonnaget killed!"

A military cargo plane, flyingover a populated area, suddenlyloses power and starts to nose down. The pilot tries to pull up, but with alltheir cargo, the plane is too heavy. Sohe yells to the soldiers in back tothrow things out to make the planelighter. They throw out a pistol."Throw out more!" shouts thepilot. So they throw out a rifle."More!" he cries again. They heaveout a missile, and the pilot regainscontrol. He pulls out of the dive and landssafely at an airport. They get into a

They drive more and meet anotherboy who's crying even harder. Againthey ask why and the boy says, "Arifle hit me on the head!" Insomnia, or sleeplessness, is asleep disorder in which there is aninability to fall asleep or to stay asleepas long as desired. While the termis sometimes used to describe adisorder demonstrated bypolysomnographic or actigraphicevidence of disturbed sleep, this sleepdisorder is often practically definedas a positive response to either oftwo questions: "Do you experiencedifficulty sleeping?" or "Do youhave difficulty falling or stayingasleep?" Insomnia is most often thoughtof as both a medical sign and asymptom that can accompany severalsleep, medical, and psychiatricdisorders characterized by apersistent difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep or sleep of poorquality. Insomnia is typically followedby functional impairment while awake.Insomnia can occur at any age, but itis particularly common in the elderly.Insomnia can be short term (up tothree weeks) or long term (above3–4 weeks); it can lead to memoryproblems, depression, irritability andan increased risk of heart disease andautomobile related accidents. Those who are having troublesleeping sometimes turn to sleepingpills, which can help when usedoccasionally but may lead tosubstance dependency or addiction ifused regularly for an extended period. Insomnia can be grouped intoprimary and secondary, or comorbid, insomnia. Primary insomnia is asleep disorder not attributable toa medical, psychiatric, orenvironmental cause. It is describedas a complaint of prolonged sleeponset latency, disturbance of sleepmaintenance, or the experience ofnon-refreshing sleep. A completediagnosis will differentiate betweenfree-standing primary insomnia, insomnia as secondary to anothercondition, and primary insomniaco-morbid with one or moreconditions.

Types of insomnia Insomnia can be classified astransient, acute, or chronic. Transient insomnia lasts for less thana week. It can be caused by anotherdisorder, by changes in the sleepenvironment, by the timing of sleep, severe depression, or by stress. Itsconsequences – sleepiness andimpaired psychomotor performance– are similar to those of sleepdeprivation. Acute insomnia is the inability toconsistently sleep well for a period ofless than a month. Insomnia is presentwhen there is difficulty initiating ormaintaining sleep or when the sleepthat is obtained is non-refreshing orof poor quality. These problemsoccur despite adequate opportunityand circumstances for sleep and they

must result in problems with daytimefunction. Acute insomnia is alsoknown as short term insomnia or stressrelated insomnia. Chronic insomnia lasts for longerthan a month. It can be causedby another disorder, or it can be aprimary disorder. People with highlevels of stress hormones or shifts inthe levels of cytokines are more likelythan others to have chronic insomnia. Its effects can vary according to itscauses. They might include muscularfatigue, hallucinations, and/or mentalfatigue. Chronic insomnia can causedouble vision.

Patterns of insomniaSymptoms of insomnia: *difficulty falling asleep, includingdifficulty finding a comfortablesleeping position *waking during the night and beingunable to return to sleep *feeling unrefreshed upon waking *daytime sleepiness, irritability oranxiety Sleep-onset insomnia is difficultyfalling asleep at the beginning of thenight, often a symptom of anxietydisorders. Delayed sleep phasedisorder can be misdiagnosed asinsomnia, as sleep onset is delayed tomuch later than normal whileawakening spills over into daylighthours. It is common for patients who havedifficulty falling asleep to also havenocturnal awakenings with difficultyreturning to sleep. Two thirds of thesepatients wake up in middle of the night, with more than half having troublefalling back to sleep after a middle ofthe night awakening. Early morning awakening is anawakening occurring earlier (morethan 30 minutes) than desired withan inability to go back to sleep, andbefore total sleep time reaches 6.5hours. Early morning awakeningis often a characteristic ofdepression.

Causes and comorbiditySymptoms of insomnia can becaused by or be co-morbid with: *Use of psychoactive drugs (such

as stimulants), including certainmedications, herbs, caffeine, nicotine, cocaine, amphetamines, methylphenidate, aripiprazole,MDMA, modafinil, or excessivealcohol intake. *Withdrawal from anti-anxietydrugs such as benzodiazepines orpain-relievers such as opioids. *Previous thoracic surgery. *Heart disease. *Deviated nasal septum andnocturnal breathing disorders. *Restless legs syndrome, which cancause sleep onset insomnia due to thediscomforting sensations felt and theneed to move the legs or other bodyparts to relieve these sensations. *Periodic limb movement disorder(PLMD) , which occurs during sleepand can cause arousals of which thesleeper is unaware. *Pain, an injury or condition thatcauses pain can preclude an individualfrom finding a comfortable positionin which to fall asleep, and can inaddition cause awakening. *Hormone shifts such as those thatprecede menstruation and thoseduring menopause. *Life events such as fear, stress, anxiety, emotional or mental tension, work problems, financial stress, birthof a child and bereavement. *Gastrointestinal issues such asheartburn or constipation. *Mental disorders such as bipolardisorder, clinical depression, generalized anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsivedisorder, dementia, and ADHD *Disturbances of the circadianrhythm, such as shift work and jet lag,can cause an inability to sleep atsome times of the day and excessivesleepiness at other times of the day.

Chronic circadian rhythm disordersare characterized by similarsymptoms. *Certain neurological disorders, brain lesions, or a history of traumaticbrain injury. *Medical conditions such ashyperthyroidism and rheumatoidarthritis. *Abuse of over-the counter orprescription sleep aids (sedative ordepressant drugs) can producerebound insomnia. *Poor sleep hygiene, e.g., noise orover-consumption of caffeine. *A rare genetic condition can causea prion-based, permanent andeventually fatal form of insomnia calledfatal familial insomnia. *Physical exercise. Exercise-inducedinsomnia is common in athletes in theform of prolonged sleep onset latency. Sleep studies usingpolysomnography have suggestedthat people who have sleepdisruption have elevated nighttimelevels of circulating cortisol andadrenocorticotropic hormone Theyalso have an elevated metabolic rate, which does not occur in people whodo not have insomnia but whose sleepis intentionally disrupted during a sleepstudy. Studies of brain metabolismusing positron emission tomography(PET) scans indicate that people withinsomnia have higher metabolic ratesby night and by day. The questionremains whether these changes are thecauses or consequences of long-terminsomnia.

Treatment It is important to identify or rule outmedical and psychological causesbefore deciding on the treatment forinsomnia. Cognitive behavioraltherapy (CBT) "has been found tobe as effective as prescriptionmedications are for short-termtreatment of chronic insomnia. Moreover, there are indicationsthat the beneficial effects of CBT,in contrast to those produced bymedications, may last wellbeyond the termination of activetreatment." Pharmacologicaltreatments have been used mainly toreduce symptoms in acute insomnia;their role in the management of chronicinsomnia remains unclear. Severaldifferent types of medications are alsoeffective for treating insomnia. However, many doctors do notrecommend relying on prescriptionsleeping pills for long-term use. It isalso important to identify and treatother medical conditions that may becontributing to insomnia, such asdepression, breathing problems, andchronic pain.
