PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

At our December "Doughnut Sunday" we raised $45.50 for St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. A big Thank You to Noelia Gonzalez for helping with this month's "Doughnut Sunday." We also want to thank Virginia Beatty for her generous mone-tary donation towards the doughnuts. We need more doughnut donors and helpers! Please con-tact Maureen Eckert at (707) 227-9031 to find out how you can help!

DOUGHNUT SUNDAY

St. Thomas is preparing food for the “Table” at the Presbyterian Church every third Thursday of each month. Please consider do-nating to help provide food for

the less fortunate. We need potatoes, carrots, ham, green beans, and milk. You may call the parish office to sign up for items that you can do-nate. Items may be brought to the office prior to the third Thursday. Thank you!

THE TABLE

The last day of classes before the Christmas Break are Tuesday Dec. 17 and Wednesday Dec. 18th. Classes will resume on Tuesday January 14th and Wednesday January 15th.

CCD NEWS

We will have the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, January 3rd, from 9:00am to 9:00pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Friday. We invite you to sign up for an

hour of adoration. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully more than one person per hour can come. We will have the celebration of mass at 12:00pm.

BLESSED SACRAMENT ADORATION

Wouldn’t it be nice if we knew the day and time when Jesus will come? I wish it was that easy! The early Christian really believed in the immediate coming of Jesus Christ. The challenge that they had was that many were waiting around doing nothing. The second reading this weekend reminds us to always be patient as we wait for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It also reminds us to not complain nor judge others as we wait patiently. During this time of the year, we are all put to this test! I see people go from one place to another so quickly. I have even seen people being frustrated waiting in long lines and sometimes these emotions getting the best of them. I would hope that all of us at St. Thomas, during this time of Advent, we may continue to grow and nourish our faith so that our emotions do not get the best of us as we await patiently for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lastly, I want to thank everyone who was involved in the celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe: those who build the altar, the family who brought the mariachi, those who donated the flowers, and all those who donated bread, milk and other items for the celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe. May God bless all of you and our parish of St. Thomas, Fr. Abel

Las Posadas, (Spanish: “The Inns”) religious festival cele-brated in Mexico and some parts of the United States. Las Posadas commemorates the

journey that Joseph and Mary made from Naza-reth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus.

We will have posadas here at St. Thomas Aquinas December 15 thru December 21 each day at 7pm. Everyone is welcome to the posadas.

Gospel: Mt 11:2-11

R. Alleluia, alleluia. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed

me to bring glad tidings to the poor. R. Alleluia, alleluia.

R. Aleluya, aleluya.

R. Aleluya.

When John the Baptist heard in pris-on of the works of the Christ, he sent his disciples to Jesus with this ques-tion, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for anoth-er?" Jesus said to them in reply, "Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them. And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me." As they were going off, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, "What did you go out to the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? Then what did you go out to see? Someone dressed in fine clothing? Those who wear fine clothing are in royal palaces. Then why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you. Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."
