November 3, 2019 Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

Welcome Welcome Welcome

Reflections :

Dear Friends,

“They have gone

no further from us

than to God, and

God is very near.”

The whole month of November is an interesting time filled with the feast days of great saints

and glimpses of eternity. It begins with All Saints or All Hallow’s Eve (aka Halloween) which is the last day

of October. While some see ghosts, we see saints. It then follows with the beautiful feast of All Souls. We al-

so celebrate Thanksgiving reminding us that all things in life are a gift. And as we said last weekend, all gifts

are good and beautiful. The month of November ends with the feast of Christ the King, which anticipates the

Second Coming of Jesus at the end of times.

November is also a season for Catholics to prayerfully remember all those who have gone before us ‘marked

by the sign of faith.’ As a parish community, we will gather on November 6th to remember our brothers and

sisters from St. Patrick’s who have gone to God this past year. We will, as we did in the past, use a symbol of

light to remember those who were a light to us.

Each and everyone one of us has been touched by the reality of death in the course of our journey of faith.

Most of us if not all of us have experienced the painful heart-breaking of a loved one’s death.

The funeral rites of our Church, our prayers, candlelight services help us to remember that no one truly dies

alone but is accompanied by the community of believers as eternity opens for each one of us.

I invite you this November to take time to reflect on the gift of your life and think and pray in a special way of

the loved ones who have gone before us.

May this season of change and of fall bring about change in our hearts and fill it with ever greater gratitude for

this amazing gift we have: life.

Blessed November,

Fr. Tomasz

BLACKSTONE VALLEY EMERGENCY SHELTER ( We will be opening the shelter on November 5th, this will be our third year.)

St. Patrick's will once again be a host-site for the Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter on Tuesday nights for those in our community who are in need of a warm, safe place to sleep. The freezing temperatures and snowy conditions during the winter sea-

son bring extreme hardship for those that are homeless. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to help the less fortunate. If you are able to be that 'face of Jesus' to those in our community that are in need of compassion and support, here are some of the areas you could assist:

- Pray that the St. Patrick’s ministry that serves the 'homeless' in the parish center will greet each guest will a smile, warm greeting and provide them assistance in the 'name of Jesus'.

- If you are able to provide $5 Gift Cards from Subway, Harry's Pizza, Dunkin Donuts and/or McDonalds - this act of kindness allows us to offer each guest a dinner, breakfast and lunch. Gift cards can be left at the parish rectory.

- We are in need of new blankets that each guest will receive when they enter the parish center and they will be able to take the blanket with them when leaving the next morning.

The St. Patrick’s community has been extremely supportive of this 'ministry', thank you and God Bless you!

Sincerely, Fred Beauregard, St. Patrick’s Site Coordinator

College Connection

College Connection is our ministry to let the St. Patrick’s college or graduate kids know that we are thinking and praying for them even though they may be away from us. Please send you college or graduate school student’s name and address to: [email protected].

We will send cards to those at home or away.
