CURSILLO An opportunity to deepen your faith.
The Boston Cursillo Movement www.bostoncursillo.org
The Cursillo is a “little course in Christianity” that begins on a Thursday evening and concludes Sunday afternoon. Each Cursillo is an encounter with Christ in a small community of
the Church, in order that Christ’s love and grace can be brought to every aspect of life. Fr Bill Murphy and Mary Ann McLaughlin will be the Spiritual Directors of upcoming week-ends. The Boston Cursillo Weekends are held at The Cam-pion Center, 319 Concord Road in Weston, Massachusetts.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?
We Catholics believe that the Eucharist is the real presence of Jesus Christ. Eucharistic Adoration is the worship, praise, and adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship. Christ loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. Eucharistic adoration is a way for us to give Jesus love and worship in return. In its fullest essence Eucharistic Adoration is "God and Man reaching out for each other at the same time!" The purpose of Eucharistic Adoration is to spend a committed hour of silent prayer and reflection with Jesus, truly present in the exposed Most Holy Eucharist. Adoration is a spiritual work of mercy, an act of profound faith and fervent love toward the Most Holy Eucharist. It draws priceless blessings on humanity for time and eternity. All are invited to stop in and spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament. After a busy day at work, after a hectic time in your life, in times of trouble and distress, Christ is waiting for you to spend some time with Him and calm your fear, share your joy and rest your soul in answered prayer.
Adoration is held every Friday after the 9:00 am Mass in the Lower Church Chapel until noon. Please join us.

In today’s gospel, John the Baptist testifies that Jesus is the Son of God. Our faith and Sacred Scripture confirm this for us – Jesus is the Son of God. Pray today’s Psalm with an open heart and open mind: “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.” What is God’s will for us - for you ? It is to speak the name of Jesus and tell of His work in your life. It is Je-sus’ will that you make disciples. Not everyone will do this the same way. Ask for the grace to find the best way you can to testify – talk about - Jesus.

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today’s readings are filled with inspiration and instruction. Isaiah reminds us that we no longer walk in darkness. For us, the ‘great light’ he speaks of is Jesus Christ. In the sec-ond reading, Saint Paul urges the community to “be united in the same mind and in the same purpose” and “let there be no division among you.” In the gospel, Jesus invites the first Apostles: “"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men." Do you see yourself as a fisher of men/women? Each of the readings offers us good advice for our time! Which one is God inviting you to give attention to in your life?
GRAND ANNUAL COLLECTION UPDATE
I want to thank all the parish families who have contribut-ed to this year’s Grand Annual Appeal. Your support and generosity are gratefully appreciated. The Grand Annual is an important part of our annual reve-nue and necessary to cover the day-to-day operating ex-penses. To date, we have received $61,665.00 toward our goal of $75,000. If every parish family makes a dona-tion as their means allow, we will have another successful Grand Annual! Your donation may be made in installments if that’s more convenient for you. We ask every parishioner consider a gift as your means allow. You may also make a one-time gift online on our website (stmarysmelrose.org). SAINT MARY MOMS’ GROUP
Come join the mom's group at St. Mary's Catho-lic Church. We’ll be meeting at 9am on Fridays if anyone would like to join us. The aim of the
group is to gather for catholic discussions, bible study, pray-er and socialization while having little ones play alongside. If you're a working mom, we will do a meeting once a quarter with just moms in the evenings. If you are interested in join-ing please email me at [email protected].
Make it a Family Affair!
We need kids of all ages and/or fami-lies to bring the Gifts to the Altar at the 9:30
Family Mass. Please just “take our fish” from the table at the back of the Church and let an usher know you will bring the Gifts to the Altar. This will let everyone know that some-one is already set to bring the Gifts to the Altar. When you go back to get the Gifts just return our Fish! Please make sure you return our Fish! This is especially a great idea for our young people who have recently received or will be receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation this year as they can play another important role and be more active-ly involved in the Celebration of the Mass.
MINISTRY TO THE HOMEBOUND
The early Christian community began the prac-tice of bringing the Eucharist to those who were physically unable to attend the celebration of Mass. Here at Saint Mary’s, this practice contin-ues to be an important ministry. Our worshipping community prays each week for our parishioners
who are not able to be with us because of enduring illness and physical limitations. If you have a family member, friend or neighbor who can-not come to church, we want to bring the Church, through Holy Communion, to them. Please call the rectory at 781-665-0152 to arrange for a Eucharistic Minister to visit.

Melrose Council #128 is a Catholic men’s organization committed to charitable giving,
unity, fraternity and patriotism. We are locat-ed at 23 West Foster Street with a beautiful
function hall and members’ lounge. Our members are main-ly from St. Mary’s, Incarnation and Most Blessed Sacrament parishes, but we also welcome members from neighboring towns and parishes. We are a very active Council with over 15 new members joining us or transferring in during the past

Our Parish Prays For Life on January 22, 2020. A Holy Hour for Life, Forgiveness and Healing will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd, after the 9:00 am Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 am as part of the Archdiocesan ob-servance of the National Day of Prayer and Penance mark-ing the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision legalizing abortion on demand. We will pray together for respect for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death; for those who have been wounded by abortion; for those facing death; and for in-creased holiness in the Church. The Holy Hour for Life, For-giveness and Healing is organized by Boston Deacons for Life in collaboration with the Office of Diaconal Life and Min-istry & the Pro Life Office of the Archdiocese of Boston. Please join us; all are welcome.

Box Top$ program UPDATE! This school year, our goal has been set for $800.00! If we are able to reach this goal by May 30th the entire school will get a day out of uniform in June! So far, we have collect-
ed $343.20! Getting close to half way! There are still plenty of Box Top$ traditional clipping on items and YES, these can still be turned in! Any Box Top$ that have not expired can still be turned in for school credit towards the $800 goal! Clipped Box tops are mailed into the company again on April 1st!
