From Fr. Mark’s Desk: Second Sunday of Lent: “Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, ‘Rabbi, it is good that we are here!’.” My Uncle Jim was my mother’s brother. He along with my grandmother and her sister lived next door to us growing up. We were always in their house and they were always in our house. (Looking back on it, they may not have always been ideal!!) Anyway, my uncle had a desk in his room and under the glass that covered his desk was a poem. As a young person, I liked the poem but forgot it over the years. This past January, my uncle passed away after a short bout with cancer. After he passed away, I went into his study and on his desk, under the glass, was the same poem I remembered from so many years ago. I thought I would share it with you. Don’t Judge Others Too Hard Pray do not find fault with the man who limps, Or stumbles along the road, Unless you have worn the shoes he wears, Or struggled beneath his load. There may be tacks in his shoes that hurt, Though hidden away from view, Or the burden he bears, placed on your back, Might cause you to stumble, too. Don’t sneer at the man who’s down today, Unless you have felt the blow That caused his fall, or felt the shame That only the fallen know. You may be strong, but still the blows That were his, if dealt to you, In the self-same way at the self-same time Might cause you to stagger, too. Don’t be harsh with the one who sins Or pelt him with words and stone, Unless you are sure, yea, doubly sure, That you have no sins of your own. For you know, perhaps, if the tempter’s voice Should whisper as soft to you, As it did to him when he went astray, Would cause you to falter, too! (Author Unknown) A look ahead: St. Linus Parish Mission Monday March 5th, Tuesday March 6th, Wednesday March 7th at 7pm in church. Topic: The Parables: Our story Presenter: Fr. Mark Walter Have a great week!! Fr. Mark

LOVE IN OUR WORK Lent is a call not just to “give up some-thing” but more important to “give some-thing for the poor.” Wherever you live in the parish, there are poor families within walking distance of your home. When in need, they ring the rectory bell. They are, in

effect, ringing your doorbell. This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vin-cent de Paul was able to assist families with food, and provide help with rent and utility bills, etc.

THANK YOU to all who took part in our monthly nonperishable food collection for the St. Margaret of Scotland food pantry.

PLEASE NOTE: We can only accept GENTLY used clothing, linens or shoes in our St. Vincent de Paul collection boxes. Please place items, securely bagged, INSIDE the boxes. Please don’t put glass items in the boxes. No household items. THANK YOU. ****IF THE BOXES ARE FULL, PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ITEMS OUTSIDE OF THE BOXES. IF IT RAINS ETC. WE END UP PUTTING THINGS IN THE DUMPSTER. AGAIN, NO BABY ITEMS.
