In the Library

Library News Scholastic Book Club Please note that orders for Issue 4 are due by Friday, 5 August.

Please make sure you write your child’s name and classroom number on the order forms and return them by the due date or visit the Scholastic website and order online. Book Fair We will be holding a Book Fair in the lead up to Book Week in Week 6. The dates for the Book fair are Week 3, Thursday 11 and Friday 12 August. This is a great opportunity for families to support their child/ren’s love of books and enrich our library as a percentage of sales from the Book Fair will provide new books to the school. Book Week St Leonards will be celebrating Book Week in Week 6 (Monday, 29 August – Friday, 2 September) and the theme is “Australia: Story Country”. In the coming weeks, classes will be reading the Shortlisted Books and be involved in many activities that complement the books and the curriculum. Stories and information books about our country and the people in it help connect us to our past, and inform us about different ways of life that make up Australia. Premier’s Reading Challenge We are now heading towards the finishing line with all Premiers Reading Challenge forms due back by Friday, 9 September. Thank you to those who have already returned their form. Currently one third of the school has completed the Challenge and will receive either a certificate or medal at an assembly in Term 4. Family Borrowing Cards

Family borrowing has been running since the beginning of Term 2. Cards allow families to borrow from the whole library, including DVDs, (Big Books and Teacher reference excluded).

If you would like a family borrowing card, leave your details with me at the Library. Please include the names of all famlily members who will be using the card and your enrolled child’s name for reference.
