The Colleges have twelve Audio-visual halls for conducting seminars and other Co-curricular and extra-curricular

activities.•All the class rooms are equipped with LCD projectors and

necessary teaching aids.•The student co-operative store supplies all text books,

notebooks records, observations, drawing boards, mini-drafters etc.

•The stationery stores supply all drawing sheets, graph sheets, polar sheets, pen, pencil and other essential materials. The store which is situated in the campus provides items for day to day use.

•We have separate sections for printing and binding lab manuals, notebooks materials, mini-project reports, Inplant training reports and final year project reports at free of cost.

•The Indian Bank branches in the colleges assist the students in their financial transactions. We have three separate ATMs functioning for boys and girls in both colleges.

•The colleges have two sophisticated Gymnasiums for boys and girls.

•The colleges have two beauty parlors for girls and saloon for boys.

•We have intercom facilities which connect everyone in the college. In the hostel, every room has intercom connections.

•The college orchestra comprising of our own instruments and students proves to be a platform to display the talents of upcoming musicians

•Movies are screened for hostel students in the open air theatre. Free washing and ironing facility is provided for the hostel students.

•We have a bakery which provides delicious items for the students. The juice stall which is attached to the campus quenches the thirst of students.

•The colleges have a Chapel, Mosque and a Temple (Trinity) to cater to the religious needs of our students.

The Mess is built over a spacious area of 80,000 sq.ft. (St. Joseph’s College of Engineering) 70,000 sq.ft. (St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology) and the mess hall accommodates 1600 students at a time. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is prepared separately in the kitchen with keen attention to hygiene. The exclusive vegetarian mess hall accommodates another 600 students at a time. Hot beverages are served during break. Lunch is provided with the delicious mouthwatering menu in the Mess hall. Six luscious Non vegetarian lunches are provided for the day scholars and hostellers in a week. Hostel students, the students who attend special classes and repeat tests are provided snacks in the evening. Dinner is served for the hostellersin the mess hall which includes three delicious Non vegetarian Dinners.

The Colleges have a huge fleet of buses covering all the areas in and around Chennai city and suburbs. A sophisticated workshop to repair and maintain the entire fleet of 72 (Engineering) / 37 (Technology) buses and a diesel bunk are available in the campus.

Ms. Hemalatha N, had been honoured with Innovative Student Projects Award - Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE award 2018) for her innovative project titled “Fabrication of novel pesticide detection tool and its application”.

In Smart Hackathon 2019, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering has own 3 first prizes each of worth 1,00,000/- and St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology won 2 prizes of worth 75,000 and 50,000.

St. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & St. JOSEPH’S INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYunder the auspices of the Trust was constituted for imparting Technical Education. Right from its inception, the Colleges aim at offering Value Added Education suitable for meeting the industrial requirements in India and abroad. The Colleges are approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The courses offered are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The Colleges are totally free from Ragging. Our Trust focuses on imparting Technical Education of High standards and the Trust works tirelessly with an earnest objective to produce Engineers who can excel in all domains. We strongly believe in imparting education with discipline which helps our students secure more number of University ranks.

St. Joseph’s College of Engineering is listed among the 100 top ranking colleges in India which include IITs, NITs and several University Engineering Colleges by “The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)”, approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

We are having highly qualified and well experienced staff members to teach and guide the students in their academic and professional career. Out of 487 staff members 173 staff members are Ph.D holders and 84 staff members are currently pursuing their doctoral programme.

We are the first institutions to introduce sports quota among all other Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Most of the colleges follow the trend of admitting students in sports Quota now.

The College has produced the highest number of University ranks for so many years which stands as an example for our achievements. The College has bagged :

between 1998 and 2018. The management has introduced a merit scholarship, of Rs. 50 lakhs to meritorious students who have secured university ranks. Apart from this, the institutions have instituted scholarship worth Rs. 1.5 Crores for Class Toppers. Many of our students have received the “Innovative Student Project Award” instituted by The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) New Delhi and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Kozhikode. The College has produced more than 90% of results consistently right from its inception.

ABHS AND BEC EXAM

The Advisory Bureau for Higher Studies (ABHS) is a separate cell which takes care of all the requirements of the students

for pursuing higher studies in India and around the Globe. The cell conducts seminars about various opportunities for higher

studies in India and abroad and also provides study materials for all qualifying exams like GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, IELTS, GATE, CAT, etc. Business English Certificate (BEC) course is conducted in the college by Cambridge Assessment English. Our colleges have been awarded as a Best Preparatory Centre Award continuously for the past six years for conducting BEC. Our colleges have also been awarded by Cambridge as South Asia’s Best 25 preparation centers for higher education 2016-2018. A diagnostic test is conducted for all the students and they are categorized under three levels. Most our students fall under Higher and Vantage level. Students are suitably trained to take their exams in the campus conducted by the Cambridge Assessment English.

We have various clubs like Mathematics Club, The English Club, The Tamil Club, The Quiz Club, The Science Club and Robotics Club in the

Colleges. The club members meet once in a month and various competitions are conducted for the students. The students are encouraged with Cash Awards and Merit Certificates.

Festivals The management ensures that our religious faiths and customs are not left

behind. All the festivals, irrespective of religion, are celebrated with great pomp and show. The endless list includes Christmas, Diwali, Onam, Ramzan-Ifthar, AyuthaPooja, Pongal, Ugadi, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Easter, Iyyappa Padi Pooja, Karthigai Deepam and Krishna Jayanthi. The customs and rituals are followed without any deviation giving us the feel and meaning of festivals.

Student Counsellors

All the students are attached to student counsellors. The counsellors counsel them in their academic and personal issues. They help the students to come

out of their problems and face the world with confidence. 30 students are attached to a counsellor who takes care of the students throughout their stay in the college.

NGO Activities

Charity starts at home; here, it starts at college. Once in a semester, each class visits various NGOs in and around the Chennai city during working

Saturdays. Apart from providing food, clothing and other amenities, they also conduct various programmes to entertain the inmates. They also gain insight about their lifestyle and understand that they are liable to help the underprivileged people in the society.

Cultural Activities

The Colleges give equal importance to sports as well as cultural activities. Students participate in various intra- and inter-college culturals. The students

have won various trophies and medals in various competitions. The colleges also conduct intra-college cultural competitions and Cash prizes and Merit Certificates are distributed on the College Day.

Sports Activities

Sports is given equal importance as academics. A Sports Village with a total area of 30 Acres is dedicated for sports activities. The Sports students start

their practice at 4 a.m. in the morning and 5 p.m. in the evening in flood lights.

All the sports activities are encouraged by providing all the facilities when the students participate for Inter-University, Intra-University and other tournaments. Sports students are provided hostel accommodation free of cost. All sports students are provided sports wear & gear. The Colleges have the highest intake of sports students in Tamil Nadu.

The victorious college teams have won all the Major Sporting events in Tamil Nadu including Anna University Inter Zonal Sports Championship among 575 Engineering Colleges. The Colleges organize various Sports meet every year at a cost of Rs.25 Lakhs, in which more than 200 Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu Participate.
