Feast of St. Blaise & Blessing of Throats Monday, February 4, 2019

On Sunday, February 3, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr. On Monday, February 4th, we will have the Blessing of Throats following the 7:00 a.m. morning Mass. “The blessing of throats, invoking the intercession of St. Blaise, has become a very popular devotion. On his way to prison, a distract-ed mother whose child was suffering from a disease of the throat implored his aid. At his intercession the child was cured, and since that time his aid has often been solicited in cases of a simi-lar disease.” “The priest in giving the blessing of St. Blaise holds two candles in the form of a cross touching the throat, and prays that through the merits and intercession of St. Blaise the person blessed may be delivered from throat diseases and from every other evil.”—from Lives of the Saints, Catholic Book Publishing Co., NY.

ATTENTION ALL VOLUNTEERS Photo Badges for Volunteers

Our parish is working to have all volunteers and staff in compli-ance with Diocesan and Virtus policies. The Diocese is requiring all volunteers and staff to have a badge with their picture. We will be coordinating with our ministry leaders to meet this require-ment. We kindly ask our volunteers to please submit a photo of yourself with a white background. You can take the picture with a cell phone (in front of a white wall), and send the pictures to the parish email [email protected]. In the subject line, write “legal name, St. Genevieve Church, volunteer”. We will then for-ward your photo to the Diocese so that a badge can be made. Thank you for your help!
