HONORING MARRIED COUPLES St. Elizabeth’s is honoring married couples with a special blessing on the last Sunday of each month. The couples married in April are being honored Sunday, April 28TH at all the Masses.

HOLY CROSS TUITION FUND Holy Cross Catholic High School is enrolling students for its 9th and 10th grades. To help students from St. Elizabeth’s, the James M. Cox Scholarship has been established. (To donate to the fund, send checks to Fr. Mark made out to “St. Elizabeth Ann Seton”). For more information about enrolling in Holy Cross H.S. or contributing to the Cox Scholarship, contact Fr. Mark at (432) 202-0336.

APRIL 2020 TOUR OF ITALY Fr. Mark is organizing an 11-day tour of Italy for late April 2020. We will visit Rome [papal audience], Assisi, Florence, Sorrento, Amalfi and Livorno. Masses daily. Why the sea coast city of Livorno? In Livorno we will follow the footsteps of Elizabeth Seton, an Episcopalian who visited that city in 1803/4. Her husband William Seton died tragically in Livorno. There she first encountered Roman Catholicism. At first she was amused by her Italian Catholic friends’ efforts to make her Catholic, but when she left Livorno for her native New York City several months later, she was determined to become a Catholic … a path that led her to sainthood. Trip will cost $4-5,000 per person. If interested, contact Fr. Mark at 432-202-0336.

Pope’s April Intention

SEEING IS BELIEVING Seeing is believing! Since cellphone screens connect us instantly to social media, live TV, and loved ones’ faces near and far, “Doubting Thomas” could be our patron saint: “Unless I see, I will not believe!” But how comforting for any of us who share Thomas’s doubt, or love “doubters”

who do, to see how kindly Jesus responds. By offering the very evidence that Thomas demanded, Jesus doesn’t scold Thomas, but seems to understand such skepticism. Could Jesus have been thinking of us, who long to believe that “Jesus is risen!” but see so much suffering, and perhaps even cause some, that we wonder, how could something so wonderful be true? In today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, the risen Jesus’ healing love comforts through disciples who love others. In Revelation, “our brother John” doesn’t just claim he saw Jesus alive, but passes on Jesus’ life-giving words, “Do not be afraid.” Seeing Jesus in others is believing! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
