A message from Fr. Fitz relative to a few items of
interest: Congratulations to Deacon Tom Olson… On Sat-
urday morning, July 25, Seminarian Tom Olson be-
came Deacon Tom Olson as he was ordained a Tran-
sitional Deacon by Cardinal Sean O’Malley, here at
Saint Columbkille Church. It was a wonderful cele-
bration of the Sacrament officiated by Cardinal Sean
O’Malley with beautiful music, and many parishion-
ers in attendance along with Deacon Tom’s family. It
was a grace-filled moment for all. We will all keep
Deacon Tom in our prayers as he serves the Church
as a Deacon and moves forward toward ordination to
the Priesthood next May. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

church as you leave Mass today. The
next meeting will be Tuesday, August
11 at 7:00 pm in the rectory. New

Second Collection this weekend for Catholic Relief
Services. Please be as generous as your means will

Attention Graduates of MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH
ACADEMY An MSJA All-Class Reunion will be
held on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Saint Joseph
Prep High School, located at 617 Cambridge Street,
Brighton, MA. Liturgy will be celebrated at 10AM in
the Motherhouse Chapel followed by brunch
at 11AM in the school.
Young Adult Volunteer Shift at Cradles to Cray-
ons, 8/5 Join fellow young adults from St. Columbkille's as
we complete a group volunteer shift at Cradles to
Crayons on Wednesday, August 5. We will go
through a short orientation at 12:45 p.m., then volun-
teer in the Giving Factory warehouse from 1-3
p.m. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes as we will
be on our feet. Free parking is available on-site. This

St. Anthony's Shrine and The Paulist Center in or-
ganizing the "Dancing in the Dark" Boston Harbor

ry and dancing aboard the Lexington Riverboat on
the evening of Saturday, August 15. This is a great
opportunity to meet and have fun with fellow young

transitional diaconate last Satur-
day. On what was for my family
and me a very special day, by
your presence I was truly honored. To all of you -- know that during the last 3 years of
rounding out here at St. Columbkille my long for-
mation, I have derived many graces and experienced
much happiness. As I look forward to being or-
dained to the priesthood in less than 10 months, I
look forward to serving you as a Deacon for howev-

Se recuerda a todos que los viernes a partir de las 6 de
la tarde tenemos la exposición al Santísimo y posteri-
ormente la Misa, a las 7pm. Durante la exposición,
tendremos oportunidad para la confesión. Todos están
invitados a aprovechar esta fuente de bendición. Que
nadie se quede sin confesarLes quiero recordar que si
tienen una intención de Misa hay que pasar por la recto-
ría. No deben de entregar ninguna intención al sacerdote
en la sacristía si no es una urgencia. Hay que pasar a la
rectoría para apuntar su intención y pagar el estipendio

que fue para mi familia y para mí un día muy especial,

completando aquí en San Columbkille mi larga forma-
ción, he obtenido muchas gracias y experimentado mu-
cha felicidad. Mirando hacia delante para ser ordenado

Bendito sea Dios! Tenemos una sección en español en el
boletín para los hispanos. Prueba De Resistencia El viaje del discípulo es un éxodo de toda la vida de la
esclavitud del pecado y de la muerte a la santidad de la
verdad en el monte de Sión, la tierra prometida de la vida
eterna. El camino puede ponerse difícile. Y cuando lo hace, po-
demos estar tentados a quejarse como los israelitas en la
primera lectura de esta semana. Tenemos que ver a estos tiempos de dificultades como
una prueba de lo que está en nuestros corazones, una lla-
mada a confiar en Dios más y para purificar los motivos
de nuestra fe (Deuteronomio 8: 2-3). Como Pablo nos recuerda en esta Epístola de la semana,
debemos dejar atrás nuestros viejos autoengaños y deseos
y vivir de acuerdo a la semejanza de Dios en la que esta-
mos hechos. Jesús le dice a la multitud en el Evangelio de esta semana
que lo están siguiendo por las razones equivocadas. Ellos
lo buscan porque llena sus vientres. Los israelitas, tam-
bién, se contentaron con seguir a Dios siempre que había
un montón de comida. La comida es la más obvia de signos, ya que es el más
básico de nuestras necesidades humanas. Necesitamos nuestro pan de cada día para vivir. Pero no
podemos vivir en el presente sólo de pan. Necesitamos el
pan de la vida eterna que preserva los que creen en él
(Sabiduría 16:20, 26). El maná en el desierto, como el pan de Jesús que multi-
plicó para el público, era una señal de la Providencia de
Dios, que debemos confiar en que se va a dar. Estas señales apuntaban a su plenitud en la Eucaristía, el
abundante pan de los ángeles que cantan sobre en el sal-
mo de esta semana. Esta es la comida que Dios desea darnos. Este es el pan
que deberíamos estar buscando. Pero con demasiada frecuencia no pedimos para este pan.
En lugar de ello buscamos las cosas perecederas de nues-
tro cada día. En nuestra debilidad pensamos que estas co-
sas son lo que realmente necesitamos. Tenemos que confiar más en Dios. Si buscamos primera-
mente el reino de Dios y su justicia, todas estas cosas se-
