OUR WEEKLY MISSIONThe Biblical Verse that Changes History Forever: “And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten Son from the Father.” (John 1:14) God became a human being in the person of

Jesus to transform our fallen human nature by infusing our bodies and souls with supernatural grace to reject sin and become holy. The Word of God, which breathed over the waters of creation and instilled eternal life in our first parents Adam and Eve in the Book of Genesis was born of a woman in our world, has a human body, has feelings, desires, joys and sorrows, just like us! This is amazing news because it means that every single person is not only made for holiness with an immortal soul but Jesus in His flesh gives us the blueprint on how to live a holy life in today’s world. Don’t fall for the cultural lie that holiness and a relationship with God is impossible. The Church simply must change the methods it uses to reach people who no longer believe in God. This is why I signed our parish up for the amazing Formed.org on demand subscription last Christmas. Visit the website: www.formed.org and enter our unique parish access code: 762T32. Formed is filled with incredible Catholic bible studies, movies, audio books and video series on Catholic teaching, which can be viewed on your computer, tablet or smart phone. Share this with your families this Advent and Christmas Season, invite others to come to Night Prayer and Eucharistic Adoration and Jesus will change the world once again.Advent Night Prayer and Adoration: We had over 60 people join us for night prayer and adoration last Sunday evening to pray for personal conversion, healing and reform in our church. What a tremendous success and blessing! I will continue praying Night Prayer at 9:00 p.m. on each of the three remaining Sundays of Advent (December 9th, December 16th, and December 23rd) leading up to Christmas. No experience or materials required and it takes just 20 minutes. God transforms hearts one person at a time through an encounter with our Eucharistic Lord. If you want to understand who you are and what you are made for, spend time with me in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus will tell you who you are, what you are made for and our world will start to change…one person at a time. Never forget the Lord is with us…always!

R.C.I.A.You want to become Catholic but don’t know how to get started. (This applies to both those who are unbaptized and those who are baptized in another Christian tradition.) You are a Catholic adult (18+) and would like to prepare for First Communion and Confirmation. You are a Catholic who wants to grow in your faith and knowledge of Jesus and the Catholic Church. If you fit into one of these categories, contact Father Jamie at the rectory at (216) 524-1987 with any questions. The R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation) may be exactly what you are looking for. So, this may be the perfect time to follow the urging in your heart.

FATHER JAMIE’S HEALING HUMORAt the casino in Cleveland, a lady was playing roulette, where the odds of winning with one particular number are thirty-five to one. A friend told her to bet her age. She bet $100.00 on number 23. It came up 36 and she fainted. The lady lied. For lies and for many other sins, John the Baptist called people to repentance. He helped prepare them for the coming of the Messiah. We, too, are called to be heralds of Christ’s coming as shown in the way we treat others. Let’s put on our spiritual thinking caps this week to discover new ways and rediscover old ones to announce the presence of the Lord in our midst.

PRINTER CARTRIDGESRight to Life is accepting empty printer cartridges and used cell phones. Please drop them in the baskets at the doors of the church.

MEN OF MERCYDid you know there is a Men’s group in our Parish who feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless, buries the dead and other Corporal Works of Mercy? The “Men of Mercy” have donated thousands of dollars to needy individuals and families in our area. Here are just a few of the causes that we have supported thus far:o Donated 1,300 diapers to Maggie’s Place, a non-profit,

temporary home for pregnant mothers, and mothers who recently delivered, who have no other housing.

o Provided a custom-made tricycle to a local family enabling them to safely transport their handicapped 5-year old daughter, who enjoys going on bike rides.

o Donated 500 bars of soap to the West Side Catholic Center and 1,000 bars to the Open-Door Reentry program.

Comprised of over 50 local area men, we meet right here at Saint Columbkille. If you are looking for a Ministry that is making a real difference and doesn’t require a huge time commitment (we meet only 4 times a year!), please consider joining our ranks! To learn more about the Men of Mercy, please join us at our next quarterly meeting on Sunday, December 9th at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. YOUTH GROUP NEWS

Bonfires/discussion will continue, weather permitting, on Wednesday nights behind the school from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Check our webpage or contact [email protected] to get on the mailing list.

Youth Renewal Team: Attention all high school students… The St. Columbkille Youth Renewal Team is an incredible way to grow in your own faith, and is always a lot of fun. The team is looking for students grades 9-12 who would like to lead others in exploring their

faith and developing bonds that will last a lifetime. This is an exciting and fantastic opportunity to grow in your own faith while leading others to Christ. Typically, we require that anyone who wants to serve on the Team had attended at least one Youth Renewal in the past, however, if you have retreat experience, we encourage you to come to the meeting. Any questions or for more information, please contact Mr. Zgrabik at [email protected].
