Many Blessings . . .
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Matthew 5:4 A friend’s sister recently died tragically. He told me, “My heart is breaking.” Several years earlier, he had also lost his daughter in a car accident. I cried with him and for him then too. Now I pray that he processes his grief so his heart can start to mend with the warm mem-ories of his wonderful sister. I believe the Lord wraps His comforting and loving arms around those who grieve. We just have to trust in Him.
We all have our own grief to bear when our hearts and spirits are challenged with the pain we suffer from loss. We have to remember it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to ask God why, and it’s okay to talk to someone about it. We need to go through the stages of grief…and sometimes they are like a tide, with an ebb and a flow. When we feel that shock and denial, it’s because our hearts can’t seem to fathom that loss has really happened. We begin to get angry and ask “why?” This sadness wash-es over us like strong waves in the ocean, trying to overwhelm and overcome us, but we break free, and we accept what happened, and we find our way to emo-tionally move on. How do we do this? Having God and prayer to comfort and support us is like wearing a life vest and a having a lifeguard watch over us. We have grief groups at St. Ann and in the community to help us work through our emotional chaos and come to terms with our grief. We have prayer groups at St. Ann that will pray for us. If you know someone who needs our prayers, please call us at the office or write your intentions for us to bring to the altar during Mass.
It is difficult to deal with tragedies and losses in our lives, but with support and love, the burden can be less-ened. Reach out to those who are suffering. You who are suffering, reach out to those who care. Lean on God and allow Him to help you ease the pain of your broken heart. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18

GraFFiti Youth Group
St. Ann School is delighted to announce and welcome Mrs. Kelly Rojas as our new Principal!
Mrs. Rojas comes to us from St. George Catholic School in Tinley Park. She has over 12 years of teaching expe-rience in both public and Catholic elementary schools. Some of her professional highlights include serving on a school district-wide K-12 Mathematics Curriculum Committee, serving as Co-Director of a district-wide teacher mentoring program, and successfully working with and turning around under-performing students.
Mrs. Rojas earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education & Music Education from Regents College, London, England; and Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Illi-nois respectively. She earned her Master of Arts in School Leadership from Concordia University, Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Rojas also holds endorsements for Princi-pal Administrative, Elementary and Secondary Educa-tion.
Mrs. Rojas resides in Tinley Park with her husband Joe, her three children, Patrick, Shannon, and Fallon, and her two Jack Russell Terriers, Willow and Piper. She is ex-tremely excited to join the St. Ann family and is looking forward to meeting all the students, parents, faculty, staff, and parishioners.
Please give her a huge St. Ann welcome!
The weather didn't entirely cooperate for our Graffiti Youth Group picnic--we had to eat indoors (special thanks to Mr. Ken Kot for cooking in the rain!), but were eventually able to go back outside for some volleyball and games. Fr. Bill even joined us for a bit! Thanks to all the parents who sent food and came out to be with us. We are in the process of planning at least one more summer outing and our annual outdoor Mass. Stay tuned for details!
