LEGISLATIVE
The implementation of the doctoral studies, according with Law on High Education adopted in 2008 is obligatory until the beginning of the academic year 2009/10,
So far, several institutes – members of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje have established doctoral studies and gained accreditation (or they have started the procedure);
The Faculties are still considering the best solution for the organisational structure of the doctoral studies: Graduate schools or Doctoral Centres;
Example that illustrates one of the solutions is SEEFORM Ph.D. Centre;

CHALLENGES
Small country – limited number of candidates and experts in specific scientific fields;
Necessity of flexibility of PhD study programs;
High costs of the studies; Week industry – incapable of serious
investment in research;

Relationship between Research and Business Community
Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje has participated in establishing the European Information & Innovation Centre in Macedonia (EIICM) in 2007, part of the Enterprise Europe Network and gateway to competitiveness and innovation.
The Enterprise Europe Network is made up of close to 600 partner organisations in more than 40 countries, promoting competitiveness and innovation at the local level in Europe and beyond. EIICM services are specifically designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) but are also available to all businesses, research centres and universities in Macedonia.
