The Diocese of Jefferson City will hold a VIRTUS® Protecting God’s Children class on Monday, June 27, and Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Both classes will be held at 6:30 pm at St. Thomas More Newman Center, Columbia, in the MPR. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.virtus.org. Please arrive early so that the class may begin on time. Due to the nature of the subject, children are discouraged from attending. This program is one component of the overall effort to protect God’s children and vulnerable adults. All employees and volunteers with ongoing and unsupervised contact with children and youth are required to attend a Protecting God’s Children session. All parents, grandparents and other adults in the parish community are encouraged to attend. To view valuable resources regarding the protection of children and vulnerable adults, please go to www.virtus.org or the USCCB’s website at http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/child-and-youth-protection/index.cfm.

NO COST to attend the session.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Count Brent, who passed away on Tuesday, June 21.

May the soul of your faithful departed, Count, through Your mercy, Oh God, rest in peace, and may his family and friends receive comfort from the Lord.

FOCUS ON THE MISSION “There are so many things to do.” “We have so little time.” How many variations of these statements have you heard or even said yourself? Actually neither statement is completely true. There are many things to do in this life, but really few things that are vitally important. Working, searching, conniving, and worrying our way to “gratify[ing] the desires of the flesh,” as Paul relates in today’s second reading, are really non-productive. So little time? When we take on the freedom that Christ offers us, we have all the time we need in this world, and even more in the next.

God’s Blessings to each of you for many years of continued happiness.
