SPECIAL COURSES

COURSES ON-LINE (AVE) You can now learn on-line at your own pace using the Aula Virtual de Español (AVE). AVE is an interactive platform specifically designed by the Instituto Cervantes for distance learning.

Currently Instituto Cervantes of Sydney offers individual courses without a tutor. Courses with tutor assistance will be incorporated soon. You can enrol for these courses at any time and a username and password (license) will be provided to you and allow you to complete the course in a three-month period.

Levels: Beginner – Intermediate – Advance - Proficiency

Fee: 99$ per module, license valid for three months

PRIVATE LESSONS (FROM 1 TO 3 STUDENTS)

These lessons are tailored to address individuals’ particular needs and take place at Instituto Cervantes. Lessons can be one-to-one or groups of up to three. A minimum purchase of 15 hours, which must be used within three months, is required. The schedule will be established before the start of the course.

SPANISH FOR TEENAGERS (11 -15 years old)

This 15 hour program is specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of students between 11 and 15 years old. The topics and course materials used throughout the program have been included to help students to learn the language in context.

DELE EXAMS IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

If you want to have a certificate of proficiency in Spanish or a Spanish language diploma that is valid throughout the world, you can register at Instituto Cervantes for the DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera).

Examination date: Friday, 19th November 2010

If you are planning to sit the DELE exam (A1, A2, B1, B2 or C2) and want to get familiar with its dynamics, its parts and its exercises, Instituto Cervantes offers a 15 hour preparatory course in five weeks. After the course, you will be able to use your knowledge of Spanish in a more efficient way in order to get a better grade.

ENROLMENT

No prior knowledge of Spanish?

Complete beginners can enrol directly in our A1.1 course without a placement test.

Some knowledge of Spanish?

All students, except absolute beginners and continuing students from Instituto Cervantes in Sydney must take a placement test prior to enrolment.

When can you take the placement test?

IMPORTANT! Placement tests will take place between 28th September - 8th October in the following days and hours:

Tue - Thu 09:30 am – 05:00 pm

Friday 09:30 am – 01:30 pm

If you need to take the placement test after 5:00 pm or if you want to have a specific time and date to avoid waiting, call 02 9274 9200 or write to [email protected] to make an appointment.

Please note that there is a $50 fee for the Spanish assessment test, that will be deducted from the course fee.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Class cancellations and refunds

• Students should consider their personal commitments and circumstances before enrolment as we regret that no fees are refundable under any circumstances once the course has started. No partial refund can be granted for classes not attended and no postponement can be allowed.

• Cancellations must be made in writing enclosing the receipt, at least one

day before the beginning of the course.

• The Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to cancel a course in cases of insufficient student numbers or unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be made.

Course changes All requests to change enrolment status (class level, time or day) must be made during the first week of the course and in writing. They require the approval of the Head of Studies and, although we will do our best to please all students, there are no guarantees that your request will be approved. Please be advised that, in the event of a course change, students will be responsible for any applicable price adjustments.

OUR LIBRARY

The Library of the Instituto Cervantes is now open. Our library mission goal is to promote the teaching and the use of Spanish as a second language and to contribute to the diffusion of Spanish and Hispanic American culture in non-Spanish speaking countries.

The Library offers free access to its facilities and its services are available to any user throughout Australia.
