Tuition for students taking fewer than 16 semester hours is $66.50 per semester hour for in-state students and $258.50 per semester hour for out-of-state students. Part-time students enrolled for six or more semester hours credit will be charged a $30 student activity fee and $16 technology fee; those enrolled for less than six semester hours will be charged a $15 student activity fee and a $8 technology fee. No student activity will be charged during the Summer Term. NOTE: TUITION IS SET BY STATE POLICY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.NOTE: FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUTNOTICE.

REFUNDSIn accordance with NCAC 2D.0202, a refund can not be made except under the following circumstances:1. A 100 percent refund shall be made if the student offi cially withdraws prior to the fi rst day of class(es) of the academic semester as noted in the college calendar. Also, a student is eligible for a 100 percent refund if the class in which the student is offi cially registered fails to “make” due to insuffi cient enrollment.2. A 75 percent refund shall be made if the student offi cially withdraws from the class(es) prior to or on the offi cial 10 percent point of the semester.3. For classes beginning at times other than the fi rst week (seven calendar days) of the semester, a 100 percent refund shall be made if the student offi cially withdraws from the class prior to the fi rst class meeting. A 75 percent refund shall be made if the student offi cially withdraws from the class prior to or on the 10 percent point of the class.

NOTE: TUITION REFUNDS, STUDENT ACTIVITY REFUNDS, AND TECHNOLOGY REFUNDS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR AMOUNTS OF ($5.00) OR LESS, EXCEPT WHEN A COURSE OR CURRICULUM FAILS TO MATERIALIZE; THEN ALL THE STUDENTS’ TUITION SHALL BE REFUNDED.

MOODLE

MOODLE ACCESSThe college’s primary online course platform is Moodle. Courses may be entirely online or may be used to web enhance face to face classes, called hybrid classes and supplemental. Students must access all online, hybrid and supplemental courses using Moodle via the Internet. For more information and access instructions go to moodle.waynecc.edu (For other platforms such as Course Compass, My Math Lab, or Web Assign, etc., access and user information will be provided by the course instructor in the seated course).

If you are enrolled in an Online course you must access the course and complete initial assignments within the fi rst 48 hours of the day your class is scheduled to begin. Note: Online courses will be available after 8 a.m., the day your class is scheduled to begin.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ONLINE COURSES:1. It is recommended online students complete or test

out of RED 090.2. Have a reliable Desktop or Laptop computer with

Windows XP or better with a minimum of 512mbof RAM and 2G of free hard disk space.

3. Have a reliable Internet connection with at least a56K modem (high speed internet connection isrecommended.)

4. Be able to compose, send and receive e-mail withattachments.

5. Have and be able to compose and save fi les usingMS WORD.

CAMPUS CRUISERWCC Campus Cruiser, or WCC Cruiser, is a Web-based portal that enables the college to provide all students with free e-mail accounts and 24/7 access to their student records and online services. The WCC cruiser e-mail is the college’s primary means of student communication for instructor correspondence, registration dates and times, award letters, fi nal grades, tax documentation, and general campus announcements. Students can access personal records such as course schedules, grades, GPA, fi nancial profi le, fi nancial aid reports, etc. Online services include online registration, class searches, and electronic tuition payments. Notes on Student e-mail: Check it often and keep it cleaned out. If your e-mail box gets full, it will block e-mails and you may not receive critical information from instructors and other important

communications such as pre-registration dates.

ACADEMIC SKILLS CENTERThe Academic Skills Center offers academic assistance to college students, prospective college students, and the general public. The Center offers one-on-one, small group, and computer-assisted instruction. Professional educators are available to assist students in reading, English, mathematics, and the sciences. The Center also offers a peer-tutoring program. The peer-tutoring program gives students the opportunity to be tutored by other students who have been successful in their classes. The staff in the Center work together to coordinate and provide supplementary materials which facilitate learning and provide students with the maximum opportunity to succeed. The Academic Skills Center offers programs for the general public.

Academic Skills Center hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:45 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

COLLEGE TRANSFER ADVISING CENTERThe College Transfer Advising Center offers students pursuing Associate in Arts, and Associate in Science degrees a central location to seek academic advising. The goal of the Advising Center is to serve, guide, and support students preparing to transfer to a four-year college.

The center is open from 7:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9:15 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Friday.. The Advising Center is located in the Wayne Learning Center, room 137. For more information, call 919-739-6755.

COUNSELING SERVICESCounselors are available to assist students with academic and personal concerns and to facilitate educational and career planning. Information about programs of study, disability services, short-term clinical counseling and community referrals, and placement testing are services provided by the counseling staff. DISTANCE EDUCATIONDistance Education offers an alternative to the traditional classroom and is a convenient way for students seeking fl exibility in their lives and class

If you are considering taking a distance education course, please read all the information on pages 5-6. For Admissions and Records information, refer to page 2. HONORS PROGRAMThe purpose of the Honors Program is to offer a challenging educational atmosphere of enrichment and exploration for students of high academic achievement. The program is designed for students who have excelled in the classroom, who have proven to be self-disciplined in their studies, and who have demonstrated a commitment to learning. The Honors Program includes opportunities for service-learning, leadership training, and extended studies. The aim for Wayne Community College is to help accelerated students better prepare themselves for leadership roles in their profession and in the community. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATIONThe Student Government Association acts as an intermediary between the student body and the administration of the College, serving as a student forum representing the student’s views to the College faculty and administration. All students who pay activity fees are members of the Student Government Association.

THE WRITING CENTERThe Writing Center offers individual assistance in the writing process to curriculum students in all programs. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS GUIDECP - COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONCooperative Education (Co-op) is designed to give students enrolled in curriculum programs that require Co-op, a chance to work on a job, while completing their degrees. Co-op students may work part-time or full-time in a job related to their major, with employers selected and/or approved by the College. Academic credit is given for the learning gained during the Co-op work period. Students must be enrolled in approved Co-op programs for academic credit, have completed 9 semester credit hours at the college, have a 2.0 GPA, and have approval from their program instructor and the Co-op offi ce, to register for work experience courses.

HY - HYBRID CLASSESA hybrid course is a college credit course in which a portion of the learning activities are completed on-line. Contact hours traditionally spent in the classroom or lab are reduced. The goals of a hybrid are to join the best features of face-to-face instruction with the best features of on-line instruction; to promote active, independent learning; and to reduce class seat time. Students must attend the scheduled face-to-face meeting times and must have access to a computer and the internet to complete independent assignments. Hybrid courses have the same standards, required competencies, and credit hours as traditional seated or totally on-line courses. The instructor for each course will set the requirement for on-campus meetings, classes, and testing. Students must attend the fi rst seated day of class or contact the instructor prior to, in order to remain enrolled in the Hybrid class. IN - INTERNET COURSESAn internet course is a college credit course in which all of the learning activities are completed online. The goals of an online course are to offer a quality and challenging online learning environment; to promote active, independent learning; and to eliminate seated class time constraints. Students must maintain academic progression through the course and must have access to a computer and the internet to complete course assignments and activities. Online courses have the same standards, required competencies, and credit hours as traditional seated courses. Students must access the course site and complete initial assignments within 48 hours of the class start time. The college’s course management system is Moodle. TR - TRADITIONAL COURSESA traditional course is a face-to-face or seated course on campus or another designated location.
