FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKThanks, you for your first installment of our Grand Annual. A good beginning.
Please set aside the date of November 19. It is on that day we as a parish family will celebrate the good gift of our patron Saint Anthony and the gift of our Church and the gift of each other. We will do this at the 12 O clock Mass. After the Mass, we will go down to our hall for a full Italian buffet (May be even my very own macaroni and meat balls) dancing with the songs of Allan LaBella and simply enjoying each other’s company. Tickets for this celebration are available after all the Masses and at the rectory during the week don’t miss it.
As I said before, November is the month of Thanksgiving and remembering. If you wish to have your loved ones remembered at the Mass and enrolled in our special booklet please fill out the form that may be found at the back of the Church and return to rectory before November 6th.
Now my Macaroni and Meat Balls!! Fr. George
*Our Parish Theme Song
Lord, you have come to the seashore, neither searching for the rich nor the wise,
desiring only that I should follow.O Lord, with your eyes set upon me gently
smiling, you have spoken my name; all I long for
I found by the water, at your sideI will seek other shores
BASIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITYWe have started a new program, namely “Basic Christian Community” (BCC) in our Parish. Basic Christian Community is the life style of early Christians. Few families gather at a home and they pray and reflect over the Word of God. It will enrich our lives and provide a good opportunity to pray for others. It will strengthen our relationship with one another. If anyone wants to have Basic Christian Community in their home, please contact Fr. Heniston.

Twenty Ninth Sunday In Ordinary Time
“The gift of Counsel acts like a new breath in the conscience, suggesting to it what is licit, what is becoming, what is more lifting for the soul”
Counsel is the third gift of the Holy Spirit. Every day we face so many problems in our lives and we find it difficult to face them. Sometimes, we have to take decisions regarding certain matters or issues whether we like it or not. Those moments are highly confusing and we do not know what to do and we become crazy. The gift of Counsel directs and guides us in those moments.
Enlightened by the Spirit the gift of counsel enables us to make appropriate decisions especially in a difficult situation. It makes us to ask himself or herself that is the decision taken in line with God’s will and the teaching of the Church? Therefore, the gift of counsel accurately guides us to take correct decision at a particular time, place and circumstance. It corresponds to the teachings of Christ that kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans. When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say.”
Pope Francis in his catechesis teaches that illuminates our heart and makes us sensitive to the voice of the Spirit so that we do not get carried away in our thoughts, feelings, and intentions, by selfishness or our own way of looking at things but by the will of God.”The essential condition to have the gift of counsel in our life is ‘prayer’aside our personal logic and begin to act according to the promptings of the Spirit. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit may guide us though others who are gifted with the gift of the Counsel. For example, Popes Gregory XI and Urban VI were counseled even admonished by St. Catherine of Siena who was young and without great training and learning. St. John Marie Vianney was told to be a below average person, but many Cardinals and Bishops went to him to bet guidance and to make important decisions.Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J. in his article called “The Gift of Counsel” instructs us to develop two elements to grow in the gift of Counsel. They are: sense of one’s own weakness and ignorancehumble and know our limitations, we will dance according to tune of the Holy Spirit. Let us ask God to bless us with the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide us and others.
PRAYERthroughout my life. Give me grace to discern Your ways to walk in Your paths, and make others to follow Your directions and guidance. Bless all our spiritual leaders and fill them with the gift of counsel to guide Your Holy Church. I ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Confirmation News“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the
world on fire” - St. Catherine of Siena
We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution. Each of us is the result of a thought of God. God has a purpose for our life and Jesus has revealed it to us. The purpose of our Christian life is to be the salt and light of the world (Matt 5/14-16). When we live the call of God we will set the world on fire. The Sacrament of Confirmation offers us the grace and strength to be the salt and light of the world.
Oct. 22, 2017 is the Twenty Ninth Week in Ordinary Time. This weekend right after the 12 Noon Mass the first year Confirmation Candidates will have a session on “Divine Revelation” from 1.15 PM to 2.15 PM at the faith formation building.
The second year Confirmation Candidates will have a session on “Why am I a Catholic?” in the evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the faith formation building.
All the candidates have to do the sign-up sheets kept in the vestibule after attending the weekend Mass.Reminder: Next Sunday (Oct. 29, 2017) the 12 Noon Mass is going to be the “Introduction and Initiation Mass” for the first year Confirmation Candidates and “Commitment Mass” for the second year Confirmation Candidates.
