Lesson Objectives
•Students will learn about extracurricular activities that the Romans partook in.
•Students will better understand about the Roman lifestyle as it pertains to school, health, pets, and so forth.
•Students will briefly familiarize themselves with the Roman Gods and Goddesses.
•Students will indulge themselves in a feast, just as the Romans did, as they learn about Roman customs and gatherings.
What do you think the Romans did with their
spare time?Take a minute to brainstorm within your group. Come up with at least 3 activities to share with the class.
•Romans went to theaters to watch plays.
•They listened to music.
•Romans watched acrobatic performances.
•Romans played dice games.
•Chariot racing was another exciting event that the Romans enjoyed.
•In Rome, there were wrestling matches that involved Gladiators.
•They also exercised.

-Richer Romans sent their slaves to the market to shop for them.
-There weren’t supermarkets. -Most stores were very small.
•Romans also had Cafes where they could buy some hot food and a drink.

•Romans did NOT recycle. The packages they bought were not wrapped up, so there wasn’t anything to recycle.
