Necessary precaution should be taken when installing your fence as the NoiseGardz™ acoustic barriers will

increase the wind loading. Additional stabilising methods must be considered

where necessary. There are in-ground and on-ground solutions available. You may need to get wind-load calculations made

for you by a qualified engineer.

To maximise performance, ensure fencing is positioned as close to noise

source as possible.

It is critical that the NoiseGardz™ acoustic barrier is installed facing the correct way. The acoustic mesh on the rear of the barrier must be facing towards the noise source. Incorrect

installations will significantly reduce the acoustic barriers attenuation capacity.

3Having installed the site fencing correctly, the SOUNDEX™ acoustic barrier can now be

secured using fixing kits available from Raven Group or cable ties. Secure the barriers

through the eyelets and around the erected structure. Each panel is joined by Velcro

strips to ensure a continuous seamless noise barrier and to assist in installation.

We recommend two people for installing the NoiseGardz™ acoustic barriers.

Manual Handling

When stacking on pallets, stack no more than 20 NoiseGardz™acoustic barriers to maintain stability. Where possible, use straps/rope to secure and

shrink wrap the outside of the pallet. Do not fold curtains twice over , this will damage the acoustic material.

To maintain the high performance of the acoustic curtains, fold the NoiseGardz barriers over so that the Deborah Services logo is facing upwards.

Continue stacking one barrier on top of another and wrap according to the guidelines below. Remove as much excess water and dirt as possible before

transportation or long term storage.

We do not recommend manual handling of a pallet of NoiseGardz acoustic barriers. Mechanical lifting should be carried out at all times

3.1. It is the responsibility of the contractor using the fencing panels to assess the risks involved and to take the appropriate measures

3.2. Examples of Risks (Site specific risks should always be considered)3.2.1. The effect of wind on the fence panel, which could cause it to blow over

3.3. Examples of Hazards (Site specific hazards should always be considered)3.3.1. Injury caused by falling panels on passers-by - particularly children - and/or the workforce3.3.2. Trip hazard of panel feet and braces, both to the public and the workforce working within

the panels

3.4. The risks are increased due to the weight of the NoiseGardz™ acoustic barriers involved

3.5. Significantly increased risks with longer runs of NoiseGardz™ acoustic barriers

4. Protective measures

4.1. There are various products on the market that provide cantilever balance to prevent a panel toppling over

4.2. It is recommended that the base is connected to the fence by a diagonal brace as well as by the foot of the upright

4.3. Panels must be securely clamped together 4.4. A long run of panels has the potential to cause a much more serious effect if blown over. A return panel in the the site area will contribute to the stability

5. Policy

It is essential that the risk of the fence falling is carefully considered. Pressure on the curtain increases with the square of the speed. The contractor must take full responsibility for the safety of the structure, and in the presence of high winds appropriate additional anchoring methods may need to be taken.
