summer

Slovak National Theatre Slovak National Theatre • is situated in Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava

and built in 1886 in a romantic concept. Outside the theater is Ganymede's Fountain. Dominating the square is a statue of Slovak poet Hviezdoslav.

Mansion BetliarMansion Betliar• Betliar is one of the most beautiful Slovak castles. It is located in the

village Betliar in region Gemer. This mansion is surrounded by a beautiful English park built in the early 18th century by Štefan Andrássy.

• In the castle visitors can find a rare collection of paintings. Moreover the manor park is on the list of the world historical gardens and the largest park in Slovakia.

• Vlkolinec , Folk Architecture Reserve is a well-preserved picture of former Slovak mountain village. It is an open-air museum of Slovak mountain living at its original location. Located near the town of Ruzomberok, Fatra mountains under the hill Sidorovo

Slovak National GallerySlovak National Gallery• The Slovak National Gallery is situated in two historical buildings along

the Danube river. It is the leading gallery in the Slovak Republic. It offers its visitors an opportunity to view permanent and temporary exhibitions of Slovak and international art of ancient and modern times as well as collections of drawings, paintings, pictures, jewellery, glass or ceramics.

Martin Benka• Martin Benka (1888 - 1971) was a Slovak painter and

illustrator. He is regarded as the founder of Modernist 20th century Slovak painting. He is buried in the National Cemetery in Martin. Benka's ornamental style was influenced by folk art. Benka visited regions where people lived simply, in communion with nature. The Slovak countryside, the simple rural life and nature were depicted in his works.

Mikuláš Galanda• painter and illustration. One of the most

important propagators of Slovak Modern Art. He was influenced by expressionism and cubism, and created his own form of painting on this basis.

• The Gallery was built to deposit and exhibit works of art of Ludovit Fulla (1902–1980), one of the most significat Slovak painters.

Orava Gallery – Maria Orava Gallery – Maria MedveckaMedvecka

• Maria Medvecka, born in Dolny Kubin, became famous as a painter and national artist. The beauties of the country, folk architecture, but mainly the figures and faces of people filled her paintings. She painted scenes of Orava people and the big social changes of Orava. She was very familiar with the life of Orava people and practically became the painter of Orava.

Medzilaborce – Andy Warhol Medzilaborce – Andy Warhol Museum of the Modern ArtMuseum of the Modern Art

• The museum was open on Sep.1, 1991. It was founded on the initiative of Andy Warhol's brother John, and the Club of Friends of Fine Art at Medzilaborce (FFAM) because ancestors of Warhol immigrated from here to the USA. Warhol is one of the most significant representatives of the movement know as

Pop-Art.
