From My Memories by Mr. Vrajlal N. Parmar

One day I was with my father Late Shree Nanji Khimji Parmar and were discussing about our Society Shree Vanza Gnati Mandal, how it came into existing. He said that some of the members of society came to Tanganyika way back in 1920 and were engaged into tailoring business. Some were engaged in carpentry work also.

In 1942, on 28th May, some of our members got together and were organizing a meeting of all Vanza to form a society called SHREE VANZA GNATI MANDAL, and held their meeting at Shree Harji Karsan Solanki’s shop under the Chairmanship of Shree NARANJI TRIKAMJI TANK.

In 1945 some of the members decided to have our own property and form a committee and were register at REGISTRA OF SOCIETY and first TRUSTEES for the MANDAL were SHREE KESHAVJI RAMJI and SHREE NANJI KHIMJI PARMAR.

In 1952 the Mandal was fortunate to have a plot in upanga and to have the title deed for the plot the following new TRUSTEES were elected on 13th November 1952: SHREE KESHAVJI RAMJI, VALJI TRIKAMJI TANK and ANAND KARA SOLANKI.

After receiving the title deed for the plot, the TRUSTEES approached VELJI VALJI CHOHAN, the proprietor of PIONEER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY to design the building and draw the plan, he volunteered immediately.

The TRUSTEES got together and were planning to raise funds for the building and at that time Mr Keshavji Daya Jethwa from Madagascar with his family members were in DAR ES SALAAM and he was approached by the TRUSTEES and requested him to be the GUEST for the laying of the foundation of the building.

Mikumi Trip

Mikumi Trip on 6th July, 2014, was another effort by our VGM Management Committee to bring together all the members. The trip was mainly organised for aged members but it included kids and youth as well.

The journey was 4 hours long and all were accommodated at Oasis Hotel. We were then served with delicious buffet.

The next morning, we visited Mikumi National Park. The wildlife seen included Girraffes, Antelopes, Zebras, Elephants, Baboons, Crocodile, Hippos and Warthogs.

Later that afternoon after taking lunch, we went on a Morogoro City Tour. We had a fascinating view of Mt. Uluguru and roamed the streets.

The evening ended with visitng Shree Hindu Mandal Temple, Morogogo where we joined in prayers and offerings and were warmly welcomed by our relatives and friends.

It was a good time well spent in this trip. Many thanks and we hope to have more trips in future.

Constipation Okay!! Sometimes nature just doesn’t call.

At some point, everyone has experience the gas, bloating and discomfort of constipation. Ideal world talks of balanced diet to remain healthy.

How often do we eat Ideal Balanced Diet rich in fibers, vitamins, mineral salts and adequate portion of proteins carbohydrates, fats and water ????

Constipation is a result of our poor eating habits, Such as high carbohydrate, low fibers, and low water consumption.

Long standing constipation may cause fissures, hemorrhoids, fecal impaction and rectal prolapse that presents with itching, pain and bleeding from the private area and may require surgical intervention in severe conditions.

Who is at the Risk of developing constipation?1. One who drinks less than 2 litres of water in 24 hrs.

2. The one who eats frequent fast foods more than twice a week.

3. The one who eats large quantity of low fiber and low vitamin rich food such as Bananas, Cheese, Pasta.

4. Sedentary life style that is lack of exercise.

5. Some Medications such as Calcium tabs, some blood pressure medications etc.

So my dear friends, Life is tragedy of Nutrition. Keep yourself healthy and no problems will surround you.

Thank You.

The chart below shows the different types of food that may increase risk of constipation thus limit use and those that prevents risks of developing constipation thus Good food.

“Most common occurring YET easily preventable simply by proper feeding habits.”“Why are you worrying about YOU-KNOW-WHO? When you should be worrying about YOU-NO-POO.”

“The constipation sensation that’s gripping the Nation!” 15

Charity Walk

Shree Vanza Gnati Mandal jointly organised Charity Walk with Shree Vageshwari Soni Samaj in collaboration with Lions Club of Dar es Salaam City.

Our journey was literally a good morning experience for a refreshing walk. There were water bottles provided to quench our thirst. Our lovely nurse Pal A. Bhadreshwara was ever ready for medical assistance.

Our local police supported this noble cause whole heartedly. We appreciate their dedication in provision of security. Ahsanteni sana.

After a long walk in the burning weather, good breakfast of kachori, samosa, mandazi, fafda, jalebi, ganthiya, sambharo and chai was available to fill our empty stomaches.

How to improve in a Well Dress Competition?

First of all it is very important to understand that buying and wearing Expensive clothes and jewelry or visiting the best Beauty parlor in town for hair styling or makeup does not qualify anybody to win a Well Dress Competition.

To be practical Dressing means wearing a right dress at the right place and time with a good facial expression and neat and sharp hairstyling which complements the body structure and facial expressions not forgetting personal hygiene. By personal hygine I mean making sure face and hair is washes before the use of makeup and hair styling. Nails to be complementing the Dress and makeup.

One can wear a saree, salwar khameez or a dress which would suit her body structure. Colour combination in dressing is very important which also includes a good and gentle hair look, makeup complementing the dress and hairstyle.

The first thing which is looked upon in a well dress competition is your Facial Expression, hence always wear a smile and keep your chin up and then the hair style and finally the Dress that you have worn which should complement your body structure, facial expression and hairstyle.

Dressing with elegance goes further than just style as elegant dressing will cause other watching you have the feeling of respect which make you win 50% of the race in the competition.

Define your signature meaning how you would define your look and how you want people to recognize you for when they see you. That is how you want your look to be felt in public that is Soft, Creative, Artsy, Feminine etc.

10 things Mom never told

Here are 10 things your mom never told you:

1. You made her cry... a lot. She cried when she found out she was pregnant. She cried as she gave birth to you. She cried when she first held you. She cried with happiness. She cried with fear. She cried with worry. She cried because she feels so deeply for you. She felt your pain and your happiness and she shared it with you, whether you realized it or not.

2. She wanted that last piece of pie. But when she saw you look at it with those big eyes and lick your lips with that tiny tongue, she couldn’t eat it. She knew it would make her much happier to see your little tummy be filled than hers.

3. It hurt. When you pulled her hair, it hurt; when you grabbed her with those sharp fingernails that were impossible to cut, it hurt; when you bit her while drinking milk, that hurt, too. You bruised her ribs when you kicked her from her belly; you stretched her stomach out for nine months; you made her body contract in agonizing pain as you entered this world.

4. She was always afraid. From the moment you were conceived, she did all in her power to protect you. She became your mama bear. She was that lady who wanted to say no when the little girl next door asked to hold you, and who cringed when she did, because in her mind no one could keep you as safe as she herself could. Her heart skipped two beats with your first steps. She stayed up late to make sure you got home safe, and woke up early to see you off to school. With every stubbed toe and little stumble, she was close by; she was ready to snatch you up with every bad dream or late night fever. She was there to make sure you were OK.

5. She knows she’s not perfect. She is her own worst critic. She knows all her flaws and sometimes hates herself for them. She is hardest on herself when it comes to you, though. She wanted to be the perfect mom, to do nothing wrong -- but because she is human, she made mistakes. She is probably still trying to forgive herself for them. She wishes with her whole heart that she could go back in time and do things differently, but she can’t, so be kind to her, and know she did the best she knew how to do.

6. She watched you as you slept. There were nights when she was up ‘til 3:00 a.m. praying that you would finally fall asleep. She could hardly keep her eyes open as she sang to you, and she would beg you to “please, please fall asleep.” Then, when you finally fell asleep, she would lay you down and all her tiredness would disappear for a short second as she sat by your bedside looking down at your perfect cherub face, experiencing more love than she knew was possible, despite her worn-out arms and aching eyes.

7. She carried you a lot longer than nine months. You needed her to. So she did. She would learn to hold you while she cleaned; she would learn to hold you while she ate; she would even hold you while she slept, because it was the only way she could sometimes. Her arms would get tired, her back would hurt, but she held you still because you wanted to be close to her. She snuggled you, loved you, kissed you and played with you. You felt safe in her arms; you were happy in her arms; you knew you were loved in her arms, so she held you, as often and as long as you needed.

8. It broke her heart every time you cried. There was no sound as sad as your cries, or sight as horrible as the tears streaming down your perfect face. She did all in her power to stop you from crying, and when she couldn’t stop your tears, her heart would shatter into a million little pieces.

9. She put you first. She went without food, without showers and without sleep. She always put your needs before her own. She would spend all day meeting your needs, and by the end of the day, she would have no energy left for herself. But the next day, she would wake up and do it all over again, because you meant that much to her.

10. She would do it all again. Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs anyone can do, and it will take you to your very limits sometimes. You cry, you hurt, you try, you fail, you work and you learn. But, you also experience more joy that you thought was possible and feel more love than your heart can contain. Despite all the pain, grief, late nights and early mornings you put your mom through, she would do it all again for you because you are worth it to her. So, next time you see her, tell your mom thank you; let her know that you love her. She can never hear it too many times.

EVENTS 2014 ( contd... )

Cancer Hospital Visit

On 23rd November, some of our Gnati Bandhus visited the Cancer Hospital to serve food and drinking water to the patients. The donation in cash collected from Gnati Bandhus was utilised by the hospital catering staff to cook food while water and fruit were bought to be distributed on the same day by our members. We are looking forward for more participation for such activities to help the needy.

Life is unpredictable. Happiness and sadness are part of life. Not everyone will be happy or sad throughout their lives. Such visits do not just give us peace but make us realise to be grateful to God for giving us good moments in life.

May God give strength and courage to those patients and their families whose lives are covered by moments of sadness. Wishing them good health and early recovery from whatever they are suffering from. May the passing moments of sadness soon be replaced by everlasting moments of happiness.

Year End Picnic

On 14th January 2015, Shree Vanza Gnati Mandal had organised a picnic at Dream Fantasy International Amusement Park. The venue had lots of rides for kids, swimming pool and rain dance. The kids had a great time riding in a mini bus and also swimming. Later on we had our delicious lunch - biryani and samosa. It was indeed a satisfying meal.

We enjoyed a lot listening to good music and dancing on the floor however the heat was surely attacking us enormously, so we cooled ourselves by joining a rain dance and joyously mingled with our fellow badhus. A Donald Duck suddenly appeared from nowhere and entertained everyone especially the kids. They sure had an amazing time with him.

Pradipbhai Makwana with a very special birthday celebration planned by our very own beloved Chairman. It was a good surprise for him and everyone else as well.

What a terrific day it was, with our Gnati Bandhus. It was like a cherry on a cake of 2014. We look forward to more exciting and fun filling events in the coming year.
