Education Week at Balwyn North Primary School
Welcome to this special Education Week edition of the Bulletin! We are
very proud of the engaging and meaningful learning that takes place at
Balwyn North Primary School every day. We are also delighted to take
the opportunity to showcase the outstanding programs we have in
place. Education Week at Balwyn North Primary School is a very big
deal and 2018 has certainly not been an exception! This year for
Education Week, we have been ‘Celebrating the Arts’. Education Week
kicked off on Saturday with a Foundation Open Morning. We had an
extraordinary turn out, with lots of eager 2019 Foundation families
enjoying ‘big school’ activities. Sincere thanks to the Foundation Team
and Helen Zannis for making this event such a success.
On Monday, we officially launched Education Week with Hugh Van
Cuylenburg from The Resilience Project at a special assembly. Hugh
spoke to students, parents and staff about the importance of empathy,
gratitude and mindfulness in maintaining a positive and healthy mind.
Tuesday saw our Year 6 Student Leaders going into classrooms and
leading learning in all of the classrooms, which included a focus on
environmental issues, wellbeing and the arts to name a few. We are
very proud of the student leaders at our school and once again they
have demonstrated their amazing capacity to lead. Please see the
special report compiled by Kayla, Rose and Daniel later in the bulletin
for further information.
We enjoyed sharing breakfast with families on Wednesday, which was
followed by Open Morning, where parents and visitors enjoyed finding
out more about our learning at Balwyn North Primary. A very popular
addition to the festivities this year was the inclusion of a coffee van,
providing delicious hot drinks to complement the prepared breakfast
this year.
The school was a buzz today with the sounds of our Grandparents, Special Friends and excited
children sharing experiences together at our school. This is one of our favourite days in the school
calendar and we really value the connections and friendships formed by this opportunity. Thank you
to our wonderful parent volunteers who prepared for such a special occasion today.
Students are eagerly awaiting the House Lunch tomorrow, to end our celebrations for the week.
Also throughout the week, we saw a number of visual and performing arts activities and performanc-
es, which helped to contribute to the strong sense of community felt throughout the week.
A massive thank you for the amazing energy that our staff continue to put into their work and to
our wonderful families for the support that you give to make the BNPS community what it is.
