Employment History:

Condor FerriesFebruary 2016 – Present

Recently started working for condor ferries on their High Speed Craft completing voyages between UK, France and the Channel islands. Private Yacht ‘DUBAI’ 162mMay 2015 – January 2016

My role also covered acting as Relief Staff Captain, although my time here has been relatively short I had to step into this role almost immediately to cover a leave period and then towards the end of my contract due to changes in the manning of the boat, this gave me an incredible opportunity to take on more of a senior role on-board and get more involved in the deck operations and maintenance, working closely with the long term deck manager and gaining lots of experience and knowledge from him and other members of the deck crew. Overall I’ve was acting Staff Captain for 4 months. This was my first experience within the yacht sector and I enjoyed it thoroughly and learnt an incredible amount about the operation and running of a high-end private yacht such as this.

Carnival UKNovember 2013 – February 2015

I was appointed First Officer on the Queen Mary 2 at the start of 2014 for the World Voyage after this I was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth to fill her permanent First Officer position. As First Officer you are directly in charge of passage planning and execution, port and agent communications, berth allocation, bridge manager with a team comprising of 5 OOWs, ensuring fleet regulations and procedures are followed, operational reliability of bridge equipment and its maintenance, maintaining of the OLB and also help with disciplinary issues on board.

During my first trips, I have completed a world voyage, which adds its own unique difficulties and challenges with regards to port organisations and communication, along with supervising the installation of an entire new integrated bridge system during a 3-week refit in Hamburg. The vessel normally operates within the Mediterranean however I’ve just left her half way through a world voyage which all 3 Cunard ships complete

every year. I was also involved in the implementation of the companies new Emergency Response Procedures (ERP) which aims to improve the way we deal with emergencies at sea.

August 2010 – November 2013

Acting as Senior Officer of the Watch onboard a number of Carnival’s vessels both around the UK and Worldwide with a large amount of time spent down in Australasia working for P & O Australia a brand of the Carnival Corporation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time around this part of the world with Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland been my main turnaround ports it provided some valuable experience. After this I returned to the Cunard Brand onboard the Queen Mary 2 as permanent Senior Second Officer holding a navigational watch as well as being in charge of the vessels Life Saving Apparatus, involving daily use and organisation of our planned maintenance system (AMOS) as well as dealing with MCA, ISM and USCG audits and inspections.

Stena Line and United Kingdom Dredging (UKD)November 2009 – May 2010

Undertook various agency contracts, including work on a Dredger run by UKD (a part of ABP) working off the North Wales coast as well as voyages with Stena Line on the Ro-Pax ferry Stena Pioneer and Stena Leader completing daily trips between Fleetwood and Larne. Sailed as 2/O and as well as routine duties associated with this post undertook both navigation and cargo watches.

United European Car Carriers (UECC) January 2007 - June 2007 & June 2008 – November 2009

UECC run a fleet of Ro-Ro car carriers operating throughout Europe. During my time with them, I navigated around the Baltic Sea, North and Irish Sea, Bay of Biscay and the UK transiting the English Channel on a weekly basis on-board numerous of the companys vessels. I sailed as both 3/O and 2/O within the fleet.

Vector Offshore LtdNovember 2007 - May 2008:

Vector operates RSVs (Regional Support Vessels) supplying the oil rigs in the North Sea and also providing emergency cover in the form of two ARRC’s onboard for quick launch and rescue of any casualties. Alongside my regular duties I was involved in onboard preparation for a DP system set up.

Clyde Marine TrainingSeptember 2002 - December 2006:

Followed the MNTB approved Deck Officer Cadet programme leading to the Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency. My sea training was mainly undertaken with Navalmar UK Ltd operating general cargo/bulk vessels worldwide allowing me to see much of the world and confirming my intention to spend a career at sea.

Hobbies and Interests:

During my time at Fleetwood Nautical College I made full use of many of the extracurricular activities, in particular playing rugby for the local town and learning to scuba dive.

I enjoy most active and outdoor sports including football, rugby, paddle boarding and one of my main passions skiing where I always try to get away to the Alps/Europe each year.

Having recently moved down to near Bournemouth, now that summer has hopefully arrived I hope to spend more time on the sea doing water sports , kayaking and mountain biking. I also enjoy listening to music and play both acoustic and electric guitar in a local band when I am on leave.
