VORTEX Textile and Apparel Symposium Held in ShanghaiOn November 12th, 2010, Murata Machinery, sponsored the 2010 VORTEX Textile and Apparel Symposium in Shanghai, China. There was a seminar on VORTEX, and a fashion show of clothes made using VORTEX yarn. The symposium was a great

success, and visited by about 130 guests from 100 companies, Going forward, we intend to implement activities to proactively raise awareness of VORTEX, using a variety of approaches.

As a fashion designer, I think VORTEX fabric best fits the modern lifestyle, for example it can be used for home garments that focus on materials, trendy activewear, high-quality t-shirts, elegantly knit sweaters, etc.

The VORTEX print fabric of Viscose not only has a similar property of cotton, but also bright color and smooth touch which makes it suitable for casual wear. Due to its unique structure, the Modal VORTEX fabric gives knitted products firmness that is generally lacking in conventional products. Furthermore, Modal/Wool blend fabric is very hygroscopic and breathable, and has cashmere-like texture that helps retain color and softness even after it has been washed many times. Since it does not shrink and has excellent pilling and wear resistance, it is also suitable for high quality underwear. I once used a fabric made of Bamboo fiber, but I discovered it was easy to pill and was not sufficiently firm. This time I have used the one made of VORTEX bamboo fiber. It is definitely the best bamboo

fiber that I have ever used, and due to its high wear resistance and glossiness, it is ideal for high-grade knit clothing.

After using VORTEX fabric, I have realized that a high value product can never be created without introducing new material, new technology and new design. Companies which do not develop innovative products and are unable to acquire technology to meet new challenges would face difficulty to survive in a market.

This time, engaging in all processes of the textile industry, I intend to contribute towards further development of the textile industry through involving more people in all processes, increasing exchanges and inspiring each other for mutual gains.

The company PT. Primayudha Mandirijaya was established in 1997. It started commercial production of Spun Yarns in 1998. Now, PT. Primayudha is one of PT. Indonesia made FTA with China. What has been the impact on Bitratex and Primayudha?

China is a competitor for certain segments of Textiles and Garments

where they offer very competitive prices. At the same time, there is a market for high quality textile yarns in China. Our companies are catering to that segment. The FTA also has had a positive impact as Indonesian yarns can be imported by China due to zero / small duty. We hope that Chinese markets for Indonesian yarns will grow further.

Could you please tell us the market situation of VORTEX?

At PT. Primayudha we have focussed on production of 100%

Viscose yarns only on VORTEX machines.We understand from market sources that some other spinners are producing 100% Polyester, P/V blended, P/C blended yarn on VORTEX machines but Murata does not recommend the same as of now.As per our assessment the VORTEX yarns have good long term prospects. However, Murata should make more efforts in making VORTEX yarns popular by organizing seminars and exhibitions for end users (fabric & garment makers).

The cost of electricity is increasing continuously in Indonesia. We anticipate you will expect much of VORTEX in this situation due to the advantages in energy savings. Could you please tell us the merit of the VORTEX machine on your point of view?

The VORTEX Machines have advantage of power saving over

Ring Spinning system. The VORTEX machine has merit of distinct quality in terms of better evenness of yarn and low pilling of the fabric made from the VORTEX yarn.The operational advantages are similar to OE

Spinning machines namely, shorter process, saving in the space required and relatively less man-power required.

VORTEX sales has achieved 1200machines in the world and we feel VORTEX has spread out all over the world. Please kindly tell us the business policy of Biratex to promote VORTEX yarns, and what are the features and selling points of VORTEX in your opinion.

PT. Primayudha and PT Bitratex, both, are known for supplying

high quality yarns conforming to the highest international standards. The target market segments for other textile and garment companies and those produced from the yarn supplied by PT. Primayudha and PT. Bitratex are different. In fact many companies who want high quality yarns do import the yarns from us.Based on the discussions with customers in various export markets across the world, we get a feeling that there is a scope to market the VORTEX yarns and that is how we have expanded our product base to include VORTEX yarns into our product range. The low hairiness of the yarn resulting into better pilling properties of the fabrics produced using VORTEX yarns is its sales promotion compared to other spun yarn.

Could you please let us know about any design requests for the VORTEX machine?

As power cost has increased and may

continue to increase in future, we would prefer longer length machines. Then, it would be an advantage if polyester, cotton and blends can be processed on VORTEX machines.

The leading company in the chemical fiber industry credit the performance of No. 3M6, Muratec Two-for-One Twister for Industrial Yarn

Heng Li Group was established in May of 1994, and now lead the Chinese chemical fiber industry. The total asset of the whole group is RMB37.8 billion. They employ is 35,000 persons, and their sales volume in 2010 was RMB32.5 billion. It is one of “Top 500 enterprises of China”. The group company - Jiangsu Hengli Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. introduced the several production lines for "Melt direct spinning polymerization system", and with the aggressive investment into the advanced production facilities in the world, now their annual producing capacity gets 200,000 tons.

For twisting polyester filament, Heng Li Group decided to purchase 6 sets of the Muratec two-for-one twister. The No. 3M6 is used for industrial yarn with 96 spindles in each machine. And they decided to place a repeat order.

Why did Heng Li decide to purchase 3M6 which had just been launched?

We have to consider the performance and price ratio.

Although Muratec has been in the market of industrial yarns for a short time, considering the reputation and reliability of Muratec, we decided to buy Muratec machine finally.

How about the performance of No. 3M6 for your company?

No.3M6 operates well. And also it has such advantages as easy setting

& easy to operate. Now, the market demand for industrial yarn is huge, so we are continuously running all 6 machines. We count on Muratec to increase productivity with further improvement of the efficiency.

Do you have a plan to install more twisting machines in the near future?

We have a plan to invest another industrial yarn project in 2011, the

capacity is 150,000 tons per year. This project has been accepted by the Government, it is expected to start construction in the next half year of 2011, and production in May or June of 2012. Of course, we will consider to add more Muratec machines.

Could you let us know your suggestion to Muratec?

Muratec needs to work more closely with the user to identify problems

from the user’s side. Once the problem is found, Muratec should solve or modify it on time. This attitude will help make the machine perfect and expand the market even more.

“To supply the client with satisfactory products and services” is one of philosophies of Muratec. We are always considering how to strengthen customer service from all aspects.

In different areas of China, we've held six times of technical seminars from Oct. 2010, to Jan. 2011, for the clients of our No. 21C-S Automatic Winder. The main topics were unit settings, VOS settings, inverter settings, mechanical theory and electrical theory. Totally, 535 people from 234 factories joined our technical seminars. This means they included more than 60% of No. 21C-S users in each area. We are pleased to have received many valuable comments from participants encouraging Muratec to continue similar technical seminars in the coming years.Through the technical seminars, we’d like

customers not only to become more familiar with their machine, but also to promote the communication and cooperation between each factory. We will continue to give technical seminars in 2011, including higher automated machines such as the Bobbin-Tray and Link Coner.

To improve our customer support in the Indonesian region, we are going to introduce a system for searching parts and creating estimates in our Indonesia office.

To ensure the smooth operation of the system, we visited the Murata Parts Sales Head Office to participate in an 8-day training seminar conducted by skilled professionals. With the experience and knowledge gained from the seminar, we strive for a more efficient and smooth customer support.

Training seminar for the parts system conducted in Japan

Empress’s Cup The 29th Inter-Prefectural Womens Ekiden organized by JAAF(Japan Association of Athletics Federations), was started in 1983 and has been sponsored by Murata Machinery since 1989.

As Japan is made up of 47 prefectures, 47 teams from each prefecture compete in the championship. Each team consisting of 9 runners run 42.195 kilometers in 9 stages. This is one of the biggest event of womens runners across the country.

Though it was the coldest day this winter and the race was held in light snow, many people cheered on the sidelines.Murata Machinery’s name, as a sponsor, appeared on all runners, number bibs who took part in this race.
