Setting Up A Combi with Multiple Progs Sets

This Tutorial explains how to set up a Single Combi so that multiple sets of Progs can be selected/switchedon avoiding the typycal sound and effect cutting (plus the inevitable delay) generated when selecting adifferent Combi.

Switching Progs is achieved using Karma SCENES buttons to switch from a midi channel to another one.

In this example we will set up a combi with 4 different Scenes. Each Scene will play a set of 4 differentProgs.

We start from page Combi P0: Play

For each track we set the appropriate sound and effects.

Our goal is now the following:

The first Scene will play the first four tracks (1-4) on channel 2

Scene 2 will play tracks 5-8 on channel 3

Scene 3 will play tracks 9-12 on channel 4

Scene 4 will play tracks 13-16 on channel 5

To achieve this we go to page COMBI P3: Timbre Param and we set midi channels as described above:

Now we need to set Karma modules

We go to page COMBI P7-1:KARMA 1

And we turn off (uncheck) RUN for all modules and we set OUTput channels as showed in the picture(module A will play the first four tracks, module B will play tracks 5-8 and so on)

Now we need to associate SW switches to karma modules:

SW1 > Module A

SW1 > Module B

SW2 > Module C

SW2 > Module D

This is done in page COMBI P7-4:KARMA4 :

Finally, we go back to page Combi P0:Play , turn KARMA ON and push the KARMA Control Assign Button.

Now pushing SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4, we will hear each of the 4 different Prog groups.

If we associate each SW to a SCENE Button we will able to get the same result using the Scenes buttons.

So we

push the SCENES 1-5 button, turn SW1 on and SW2, SW3 and SW4 off

push the SCENES 2-6 button, turn SW1 on and SW2, SW3 and SW4 off

push the SCENES 3-7 button, turn SW3 on and SW1, SW2 and SW4 off

push the SCENES 4-8 button, turn SW4 on and SW1, SW2 and SW3 off

Each time we push a different SCENES button the current setting will associated with the previous SCENESbutton and all of these settings will be stored with the Combi.

Done!

Obviously you can modify the previous procedure to get different sets of Progs:

3 sets of 5 Progs each

1 set with 2 Progs and 1 set with 9 Progs

and so on.

The only limitation is that you cannot have a total of more than 16 Progs and more than 8 Scenes (and youhave anyway a total of 5 Insert Effects).

The same Prog can obviously belong to different Scenes.
