I have worked in numerous design during the past five years - some voluntary and others as study based work experience and also afull time job working as a graphic designer.

In the early stages of career I spent some time working at Sturdy Print in Skelmersdale. The work place consisted as a design studio and a printing room. I worked with the design team using design software to produce work for numerous clients over the course of several daysas part of a work based learning program, whilst completing my degree.

Also I have undertaken work experience further design work experience with Gavin & Page design team in Speke Merseyside in theirdesign studio. I created concept work for NHS guide book. These first three where all voluntary work, whilst I was completing my degreeat Liverpool John Moore’s University. During the late stages of university, a opportunity became available to me. In the Winter of 2011 I searched for work in and around Liverpool& Merseyside. Previously I had completed projects for clients outside of university, who where involved in music & art within the city. I thought the best way to increase my skills whilst at university was to find work also. In November 2011 I started work at LWV Printworks, which is based in Bootle, Liverpool.

CAREER HISTORY

At LWV I have developed into a very efficient and consistent designer. I have been involved in following;

- Re-launch projects- Re-brands- Development schemes- Mass distribution campaigns- Toolkit redesign- Corporate identity- Customer service- Account management- Promotional packages

In the beginning I was held responsible for individual clients. My job was to design a piece of artwork as quick and as attractive as possible, for the client. Efficiency was our main focus within the design studio. I was shown quick methods of creating artwork very quickly and with precise detail. Grammar was also something we took very seriously and throughout the studio we made sure every proof was perfect for the client. This inevitably made me more aware when analyzing of artwork.

After three months at LWV I was offered a full time permanent contract and my career as a full time designer had begun.

The structure LWV Printworks was split into two departments - one being design and the other print. We would take orders via emailthrough the companies only website. Once received and approved by marketing, I would then be passed the brief from the client, and work would begin. I had the responsibility of branding of the companies artworks to their branding guidelines (if any existed).

Initially I was expected to create a design, then pass it on to my supervisor to review before forwarding the artwork to the client. In time I became more experienced and I was held responsible for every single brief that was handed to me. Using as much initiative as possible I would design the artwork as close as I could from description, which was supplied by the client. The client’s descriptions at times would be so vague, that communication between myself and them was key to completing the order. Once the artwork was approved by the client, we would seek advise from marketing advisor for the final approval. Finally it would be my responsibility as the designer to now make sure the sizes, stock and delivery details where all correct, so that the printing and despatch department would be able to print and despatch the order to the client.

At LWV our clients would consider creating templates, concepts and artworks for the coming year. In time I became more comfortable and consistent at my work. This led to me being given responsibility with re-launch projects, re-brands and promotion packages for numerous clients. Night clubs, cafés, bars, restaurants & small businesses from all around the country, I have worked with and gained great understanding of their brands to help produce the best possible artwork to their requirements.

Farm Feast is a food & music festival based on the Wirral at Claremont farm. The festival attracts thousands each year and this year I have been tasked at creating several of the artworks for the festival itself. I have also created a sponsorship document for marketing purpose to attract investment to the festival.

Brazilica is Liverpool’s own international samba carnival. The festival has attracted over 90,000 people in 2013 and the parade was taken up Bold Street and Williamson Square. I was assigned to create the after show artwork and create a separate image from thmain event to promote the evening show.
