Steam Engine Movement of steam through an engineFall 2014

South Elevation

THIS PROJECT IS A MUSEUM FOR THE HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE STEAM ENGINE THROUGHOUT TIME. THE SPACES UTILIZE VARYING CEILING HEIGHTS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE PEOPLE FEEL LIKE STEAM BEING COMPRESSED INSIDE OF THE ENGINE.

Folding Origami structure spanning a Tokyo riverSpring 2014

TOKYO, JAPANN

OUR TASK WAS TO CREATE A FOLDING STRUCTURE THAT HOUSES A MULTI-USE BUILDING. ONE USE OF THE BUILDING IS A DRUMMER’S LOFT, THE SECOND IS A SCULPTOR’S APARTMENT, AND THE LAST SPACE IS A BOOKSTORE.

NOISE DIAGRAM

NOISE REDUCTION WAS A LARGE FACTOR IN THE DESIGN. SEPARATING THE LOUD DRUMMER’S SPACE FROM

THE QUIET BOOKSTORE WAS A CHALLENGE IN THE GIVEN SPACIAL

CONSTRAINTS.

THIS PROJECT WAS AN EXHIBITION CENTER FOR HARDWOOD. IT FEATURES

AN AUDITORIUM, EXHIBITION SPACE, MUSEUM, AND A FULLY FUNCTIONAL

MILL. THE SPACES UTILIZED HARDWOODS LIKE WALNUT AND CHERRY TO TIE THE

BUILDING TOGETHER.

This jail re-approaches the justice system with one goal in mind; to create a calming environment for those in custody

WOOD IS UTILIZED FOR THE CALMING

EFFECT NATURE HAS ON HUMANS

GLASS IS USED FOR THE ABILITY TO SEE OUT

INTO NATURE AND NOT FEEL LIKE A CAGED

STONE IS INCORPORATED AGAIN, FOR THE

CALMING EFFECT NATURE PROVIDES

VEGETATION INFILTRATES ALL AREAS OF THE

Steel Centered Connecting Gary and US SteelSpring 2016

NORTH - SOUTH SECTION

This was a group project that i did with three other classmates of mine. We designed a stewardship center in Gary, Indiana reconnecting the residents of Gary with the US Steel mill that used to employ thousands.

Since this building was to be owned by US Steel we wanted to utilize the materiality of steel in numerous aspects from structure to railings and roofing.

*Group Project With Alexander Franklin, Bryan Kline, and Brittany Williams

My contribution to this project was largely with the

concept, the board design, and the renderings.

This model is an example of a double boolean curve made in rhino 5. This curve was the result of numerous geometric shapes being united into one.

This project was to design a movable wall partition that created

different lighting effects depending on the position of the

panels.
