Scott Penrose SPECIAL EFFECTS Scott is a member of the Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star and is a past recipient of the Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year Award. Apart from his skills as a performer, he is demand for creating magic and illusions for theatre, film and television. Most notably,he was a co-creator for Cirque du Soleil’s current world touring show Kooza, designing magic and special effects. Scott also designed magic and illusion-based effects for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies. Other recent credits include: Derren Brown - Svengali,The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Ghost Stories (West End and Toronto); The War of the Worlds arena tour; and Faust (New York Metropolitan Opera). He has taught magic for film and television to the likes of Sir Michael Caine, Woody Allen, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Edward Norton,and Ant and Dec. Scott’s work has taken him around the globe and he appeared in and worked on productions in the USA, Canada, Japan, Egypt, Israel, France, Sweden, Holland and Spain. Simon Gooding PRODUCTION MANAGER With 30 years of professional experience, Simon is amongst the UK’s busiest production managers. In 2007, he created Simon Gooding Production Management Ltd (www.simongoodingltd.co.uk) and has since supplied the services for High School Musical (in the UK and Spain); the world premieres of Never Forget and Flashdance; The Wedding Singer,West Side Story, the award-winning Stones in His Pockets, Shout!, Footloose in South Africa; a new production of The Rocky Horror Show, Jus‘ Like That!, the international tour of Grease; the UK tour of Spamalot; Flashdance in the West End; Midnight Tango; the UK tour of Grease; and,most recently, Legally Blonde. Simon began his professional career at the Bristol Hippodrome Theatre as a technician, from where he moved on to become head of department at the Theatre Royal Bath. Following five years in Bath, he went on to work as master carpenter on many touring and West End productions whilst also running his own scenery and furniture workshop. After being asked to production-manage Great Expectations for Apollo Leisure UK in 1994, Simon production-managed numerous touring productions including: Summer Holiday, Tommy Steele’s What a Show, Buddy,The Rocky Horror Show, Smokey Joe’s Café and the Aldeburgh Opera Festival. From 1998, Simon worked as senior production manager for CoOrdination on many productions worldwide including: Smokey Joe’s Café, Sesame Street Live, Soul Train, Jim Davidson’s Dick Whittington and Cinderella, Songs for a New World, Rosie and Jim’s Music Party and three world premiere stage musicals of Casper,The Mask and Spider-Man. Simon also production- managed: The Rocky Horror Show, My One and Only,White Folks, Sesame Street Live in Bahrain; Nixon’s Nixon,Vincent in Brixton, The Rat Pack:Live From Las Vegas, Sesame Strasse in Germany; A Little Night Music,The Baker’s Wife, Money to Burn,The Holy Terror, Simply Heavenly,The Witches, Love Shack, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Footloose,The Rocky Horror Show (new production and tour); The New Statesman, the move of Chicago from the Adelphi to the Cambridge Theatre; Guys and Dolls in the UK and Melbourne; Grease and Aspects of Love. Simon’s various interests in the theatre industry have recently found him advising on a panel which is endeavouring to improve the health and safety of the working environment for people at work within theatre.
