Monty Python’s SPAMALOT

ABOUT THE CAST:

KIMBERLY AMARAL (Quasimodo, dancing nun, minstrel) is thrilled to be taking part in CCFtA’s Spamalot. She has also participated in the Musical Theater Dance Workshop several times, and performs as a member of the Cape Cod African Dance and Drum ensemble. When she’s not busy chasing villagers, Kim is a biology professor at Bristol Community College, and teaches at Cape Cod Community College. (BTW, the hump on her back is fake, but the one in front is not! She and her husband James Newton--also in the cast--are expecting their first child in October!)

TRACY ANDERSON (Laker Girl) By day, Tracy works as a marketing consultant and copywriter, although she dances her way through these activities as much as possible. Favorite roles include Jean McClaren in Brigadoon and Nancy Twinkle in Little Mary Sunshine, but since both of those were about 30 years ago, she’d have to say that her return to the stage in Spamalot is not only a favorite role, but a milestone of middle age! Tracy lives in Yarmouthport with her beautiful son Max, who can’t wait to lovingly “schlapp her with a fisch” if one of the props happen to make it back home.

HANNAH CARRITA (Laker Girl) has been appearing in local theater productions since the age of 4. Some of her favorite roles have been Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie (HJT), Martha in The Secret Garden (FTG), Patience in Anything Goes (CCftA), Hot Box Girl/Havana Dancer in Guys and Dolls (BCC) and Felicity in Christmas Punch (WEA). Hannah is on the competition dance team at Sandwich Dance Academy and studies voice with Tedi Marsh.

MIKE DEVINE (Mrs. Galahad, French Taunter, Head Knight of NI, Tim the Enchanter) has appeared in numerous plays throughout Massachusetts and Cape Cod. Some of Mike’s Cape productions include The Glass Menagerie, Death of a Salesman, and First Night. Mike has performed Improv with The Tribe of Boston, Improv Boston, and Acme Improv, and most recently with Second City in Chicago. Mike also teaches improv all over the Cape. Mike can also be seen sparingly in eight movies, most recently, The Town, but if you blink you’ll miss his scene. NI!

MICHAEL ERNST (King Arthur) lives in Forestdale and is a practicing sculptor (sculptureman.com) and Director of Information Systems at the Woods Hole Research Center. He has performed previously in CCftA productions of Cabaret (Ernst Ludwig), Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (Jackie), Dark of the Moon (Mr. Allen), Sullivan & Gilbert (Arthur Sullivan), and How I Learned to Drive (Uncle Peck). Other noteworthy productions include I Hate Hamlet (John Barrymore - Barnstable Comedy Club), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Vice-Principal Panch - Harwich Junior Theatre).

BONNIE FAIRBANKS (Lady of the Lake) Bonnie is thrilled to return to the Cotuit stage as the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot. Last summer, she joyfully made her Cotuit debut as Muriel Eubanks in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – a

role that marked her return to the stage after a 15-year absence. Most recently, Bonnie appeared as Norma Desmond in Falmouth Theatre Guild’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard. Bonnie is no stranger to the work of Sir ALW; her credits include two years with the German and Swiss resident companies of The Phantom of the Opera, where she played several roles including the principal part of Madame Giry. A Cape Cod native, Bonnie cut her teeth on leading roles with Bourne’s now defunct Theater on the Bay. Prior to her time in Europe, she worked extensively in the Boston area in productions as diverse as Cole Porter (Lilli Vanessi in Kiss Me, Kate) to Stephen Sondheim (Charlotte in A Little Night Music) to Shakespeare (Audrey in As You Like It) to Gilbert & Sullivan (Mad Margaret in Ruddigore, among others). Bonnie trained in classical voice with esteemed professors from the University of Massachusetts, Boston University, and the Manhattan School of Music. In “real” life, she holds a degree in psychology with honors from Suffolk University, and is Office Administrator at Compassionate Care ALS.

PAUL FENDLER (Robin) recently played Willy Wonka here at the Cotuit theatre. Prior to that, he performed at CCTA in The 39 Steps, Anything Goes, Turn of the Screw and Bleacher Bums. Other Cape Cod roles include Bela Zangler in Crazy for You and King Kaiser in My Favorite Year. Many thanks to cast, crew, staff and audience. Here’s to honor, chivalry, humor and the spirit of Camelot.

JEFF HYDE (Sir Bors, Mayor of Finland, Monk, Swamp Castle Guard & Minstrel) “I’m glad to be returning to the stage after many years along with an incredible and talented cast. Having last performed as the M.C. in Cabaret and Benny South Streetin Guy’s & Doll’s during the Reagan Administration, I also enjoy Barber Shop Singing with the Cape Cod Surftones. I want to thank my family and friends for their wonderful support, especially my 2 sons: Jeffrey & Daniel. Also a big shout out to Mom, Teri, for instilling the love of theater at a very young age. As Quoted by my fellow Knight, Sir Robin, ‘I too have found my Grail.’ What’s yours?”

SHAILENE JACKSON (Laker Girl/Dancer in Various Roles) is very happy to be returning to the stage after a six year hiatus. Favorite past roles include Val in A Chorus Line, Polly in Crazy For You, Fastrada in Pippin, Carla in Nine, Toni in Cactus Flower, Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors, Jean in Brigadoon, and cast of Songs For A New World. Many thanks to friends and family for their shoulders/ears/coffee. To her fellow Laker Girls: TWVF!

KEIRNON J. McDERMOTT (Patsy): Keirnon (KJ) truly enjoys acting and has been actively involved in as many aspects of the theatre as he can be. He loves singing, dancing, costuming, and designing/applying special effects make up. His favorite roles have included Puck (Midsummer Nights Dream), Cogsworth (Beauty and the Beast) and Dr.FrankNFurter (Rocky Horror Show). He spends his free time

writing, maintaining the balance of the space time continuum, eating tacos and burritos, and preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse.

JASON MELLIN (Sentry 1, Kevin, God, Mime, Black Knight, Concorde, Brother Maynard) is a 23 year old student most recently acting as assistant director for Bourne High School’s drama program. He has acted, directed, produced, and done set design/construction and dramaturgy for shows including A Little Night Music, Noises Off, Death of a Salesman, The Children’s Hour, Babes in Arms, Metamorphoses, and The Laramie Project. He will also play the role of Paul in Company here at the Cotuit Center for the Arts this August! He would like to thank Michele and Patty for continuing to encourage/put up with him for the past 11(!) years, Lisa and the rest of the pit, Michelle, Bruce, and the rest of the properties and set crews, Rich and Claude for their expertise and patience, Mary Murphy for never letting him drift away from theatre, and the inexorable, unconditional support from his friends and family.

ELISABETH MOORE – Fresh off the boat from Chicago where she studied at VanderCook College of Music, Elisabeth has returned to her hometown of Barnstable to teach music at Sturgis Charter School West Campus. In productions since her starring role as a Poppy in The Wizard of Oz, she has appeared in various musical productions across the Cape most recently as Mimi Marquez in Rent and in the recent Cotuit production of A Grand Night for Singing.

MELISSA MORIN (Laker Girl) This NYC native has had a blast sharing this role with a great friend and choreographer. Thanks for twisting my arm! (You had me at tap dancing on a table). What a treat to dance in a show with all my girls! Other dancing roles include: Cabaret at FTG, Cabaret and Anything Goes at CCftA. Choreographer at CCftA: A Grand Night for Singing. Special thanks to my babies for letting mommy out of the house without too much protest (AGAIN!). And to my love and real life stage manager...how about a Spamalot wedding?!

JAMES NEWTON: As a Cape Cod wash-ashore of recent vintage, James Newton (Minstrel, Chanting and Dancing Monk, Castle Guard, Knight of Ni, French Taunter, Killer bunny puppeteer, and Gene Shalit impersonator, among others) is glad for the chance to be part of the CCftA and its production of Spamalot. James has performed in various musicals, plays, and with numerous singing ensembles of all sizes over the years. His greatest performance is yet to come, however, as he and his wife, Kim, also in the cast, are expecting their first child in October.

DOUG PERKINS (Sir Bedevere) This is Doug’s first foray into musical theater and he is honored to be included in this list of wonderfully talented folks. Previously, his only other work was with Theater of Sandwich where he played Reverend Hale in The Crucible. Doug again wishes to thank each and every cast and crew member and CCFTA for making this such a wonderful experience.
