The Curborough ScimFest Campsite willopen at 1400 on Thursday 16 August.The Test Days will be held all day Friday17 August and the afternoon of Saturday18 August and of course the Sprintingall day Sunday 19 August. The Autotesthas moved to Saturday morning.How to get there: Postcode is: WS13 8EJ.OS Map grid reference: SK 13401280 onOS Map 128. Otherwise use any good roadmap. Make for the A38 between Lichfieldand Derby. Turn west off the A38 atFradley Park Junction. This is Wood EndLane. Straight on at first 2 roundaboutsthen take the first exit off the thirdroundabout (Tesco Distribution Centre onright) then turn left into Netherstowe Lane(no road name is shown). The entrance toCurborough Circuit is about 150 yards onthe right. Alternatively, enter Wood EndLane from the west off the A515.

See the maps on the previous page.All the following prices are the same aslast year’s prices for the event.The advance programme price of £8 entryper car includes all occupants formembers and their guests to the site forthe entire weekend. It is cheaper to bookin advance, as if you attend withoutobtaining an advance programme it willbe £10 PER PERSON at the gate.One ADVANCE PROGRAMME admitseveryone accompanied by a Member inone car into Curborough for the wholeweekend for a much better rate than theon-the-gate entry price of £10 per personwithout an advance programme.All non-members pay £10 PER PERSON.The cost of the camping is £15 per night(with Sunday night £5). Be sure to alsoorder a programme for £8 when booking.If using a generator on the campsiteplease tick the box on the booking form.

Camping prices are as follows:£15 (non-members £20) for Thursday night;£15 (non-members £20) for Friday night;£15 (non-members £20) for Saturday night;£ 5 (non-members £10) for Sunday night.Please indicate on the booking form if youwant to use a generator. Generators mayonly be run between 0900 and 1800.Auto-jumble/trade pitches are £25 perpitch (non-members £40) for the wholeweekend. Camping tickets also requiredeven if camping on your trade pitch.All bookings need to include £8 for anadvance programme. There is a £1 feefor all bookings to cover P&P.Please support your ScimFest which isthe main event to attend to see theSprint Cars in action and for bargainsfrom Club Traders and Auto-jumble stalls!Friday’s Test Day is not open to the public.Friday evening in the Marquee for funand a quiz for all and it is still free, butplease enter numbers on the bookingform as tickets will be issued so that weknow attendance numbers in advance.Saturday morning is the Autotest and thecost per entry is only £20 this year, butwe need more entries to make it pay!Saturday afternoon is a ‘Track Test Day’.Saturday evening; something different inthe marquee as ‘Quicksilver’ have beenbooked for a Barn Dance. The theme is‘ ’ for the Golden Anniversary of theGTE. Entry has been kept the same as lastyear at £8 per person for ages 16 andover; under 16 still free.Sunday is our round of the ‘Scimitar &Sabre Speed Championship’ with practiceruns in the morning and timed runs in theafternoon, plus the Concours competitionand other activities and exhibits in andaround the marquee. We are trying toarrange a ;details to be promulgated in the marquee.All the weekend’s activities will bepublished in the ScimFest programme.

As in previous years we will be providingopportunities for Club Members to drivetheir cars on the Curborough Sprint Circuitover the ScimFest Weekend in August.Morning or afternoon half-day sessionsor A full-day ‘Test-Day’ will be held onFriday 17 August and a half-dayafternoon ‘Test-Day’ will be held onSaturday 18 August.Costs are £70 for the full day Friday,£40 for a half-day Friday morning orafternoon or Saturday afternoon.Shorter track test sessions may beavailable for booking on Friday and onSaturday afternoon.Two persons can share driving one car,but each driver will need to book andpay separately.This is a chance to try out your car offthe public road if wish to extend yourselfand your car in a suitable environment

or perhaps see if competitive motor sportis for you; most competitors started likethis. Experienced competitors will beavailable to help and advise if required.A number of current competitors use thedays to ‘warm-up’ for the Sprint proper onSunday, so this can be worth watching!All runs will follow the Double Lap‘Figure of 8’ course.Wearing of helmets is mandatory and atleast one ‘spare’ will be available.There is no booking form for the Track TestDays, so to book any of the sessions, or ifyou have any questions, please contactme at: [email protected] on: 07960 037303Our Test days last year proved verysuccessful, so if interested please contactme to book your place in plenty of time.

We need volunteers to help with therunning of the event.

You do not need any experience and all thetraining and kit you need is provided.

It is the nearest you will get to motorsportwithout getting in a car.

There are lots of jobs to do, for example:● Helping with signing on competitors;● Organising the cars in the paddock to go down to the start;● Manning the marshal posts around the track and at the finish line;● On the start line to help stage the cars;● Organise the parking, re-runs, etc.

Sunday 19 August 2018A round of the Sabre and Scimitar Speed Championshipand the Classic Marques Sports Car Club championshipwill be held as part of our Club’s ScimFest Weekend.

This will be as National B sprint over theDouble Lap ‘Figure of 8’ course.

The Sunday Sprint Event will be run by the Hagley andDistrict Light Car Club and the RSSOC will be assisting.

For spectators it will be a great chance to see theClub’s Competitors battling on the track.

To Volunteer for an hour on the gate pleaseadd your name to the list in the Marquee.

There are lots of jobs to do, for example:● Setting up and breaking down the campsite;● On the gate checking programme passes, collecting

entrance fees and directing people where to park;● Car Parking helpers to direct Scimitars and Sabres to their

parking areas and other cars to the general car park;● Setting out tables and chairs in the Marquee and stacking

them away at required times;● Autotest and Sprint Marshals;● Emptying the bins all around the site;● Keeping the toilets and showers clean and tidy

and well stocked with consumables.

We need volunteers to help with the runningof the event over the whole weekend.

Most of the things above would not take up too much of yourtime and would leave plenty of time to enjoy the weekend.
