Mission Statement At Griffin Elementary, we ignite a passion for

learning by providing dynamic, targeted instruction through goal-oriented teaching. It is our desire to provide every child with the values, knowledge and skills needed to achieve maximum potential. We challenge all students to become capable, confident, life-long learners, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and ethical contributors to society. We celebrate the uniqueness of each individual learner and strive to enable all students and staff to achieve their goals in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment of mutual respect where school, home, and community support one another.

Extra-Curricular Programs

Destination Imagination- o Destination Imagination® Inc. teaches creativity, teamwork and problem solving to

students across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. Destination Imagination® is an unconventional team learning experience where student teams all over the world solve mind-bending Challenges. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work as a team, and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills—they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.

Read-Deed-Run-o Read, Deed, and Run is a program in which 4th and 5th grade students meet after

school on a Friday to run one mile or perform a deed. During the course of the program students perform 13 good deeds in the community, read 13 books, and run 13.1 miles. RDR culminates with a 1.1 mile fun run.

Student Council- o Representatives from grade 3-5 meet monthly to organize school events,

fundraisers and service projects for the school to complete.

Curriculum Nights Griffin Elementary host three curriculum nights to

promote a home/school link so parents gain an understanding of what their children learn at school and how they learn it.

for Pets 4 Vetso Griffin Fun Run- annual fun run that raises awareness

and funds for a selected organizationo Math-A-Thon- raise fund for St. Jude’s Hospital
