PRINCIPAL POSTINGS: Yesterday I attended a Lenten Leadership Retreat at the Cousins’ Center for the principals and their pastors in our Archdiocese. The day was a combination of talks given by Fr. John Burns and time for silent meditation. What a challenge it is to be still and talk to God in silence for extended periods of time when days are typically spent in con- versation with others. I left there feeling renewed and frustrated all at the same time. I felt renewed in my commit- ment to serve the children as their Principal. I felt renewed in my relationship with God. I felt renewed and privi- leged to work at a Catholic School. I felt renewed and grateful for the many parents who actively support ASCS with their time, talent and treasure. I felt renewed in the relationships I have formed with the teachers, parents, grandpar- ents and supporters of Catholic education. I felt frustrated that one of our teachers just gave her two weeks notice because she can’t afford to work at ASCS and yet I haven’t been able to move the majority of families to see the importance and value of supporting our auction (which contributes to teacher salaries) by selling raffle tickets, securing donations or attending the event. I left the re- treat wondering if I am effective as a leader, given less than 50% of our families have sold raffle tickets and an even smaller percentage are attending the event. It costs $5200 per child to attend ASCS. This amount only provides our teachers with modest salaries. The average teacher salary at ASCS is in the low $30,000. Tuition for one child is $3250. The parish subsidy is less than $800 per student. That leaves us needing to earn more than $1200 per student to make up in fundraising. If you have more than one child at our school that amount is even greater. One way you can help is by taking seriously our plea for you to sell raffle tickets, secure donations to our auction or to attend the auction. I don’t know how else to say it...I need eve- ry family to help! If you were helped by a scholarship, perhaps you would consider helping us out! We have teachers that have sold books at the Masses. We have teachers that have purchased books in order to contribute. I have sought the assistance of my friends to support our school who have no connection to ASCS. We have teachers donating items. We have teachers that have sold $500-$1000 in raffle tickets -won’t you simply sell two raffle books? To those families who have gone above and beyond-thank you. I have lifted each one of you by name up to the Lord with a grateful heart. Praying God moves your heart to step up and support our school as we need you! PRINCIPAL POSTINGS:

Yesterday I attended a Lenten Leadership Retreat at the Cousins’ Center for the principals and their pastors in our

Archdiocese. The day was a combination of talks given by Fr. John Burns and time for silent meditation. What a

challenge it is to be still and talk to God in silence for extended periods of time when days are typically spent in con-

versation with others. I left there feeling renewed and frustrated all at the same time. I felt renewed in my commit-

ment to serve the children as their Principal. I felt renewed in my relationship with God. I felt renewed and privi-

leged to work at a Catholic School. I felt renewed and grateful for the many parents who actively support ASCS with

their time, talent and treasure. I felt renewed in the relationships I have formed with the teachers, parents, grandpar-

ents and supporters of Catholic education.

I felt frustrated that one of our teachers just gave her two weeks notice because she can’t afford to work at ASCS and

yet I haven’t been able to move the majority of families to see the importance and value of supporting our auction

(which contributes to teacher salaries) by selling raffle tickets, securing donations or attending the event. I left the re-

treat wondering if I am effective as a leader, given less than 50% of our families have sold raffle tickets and an even

smaller percentage are attending the event.

It costs $5200 per child to attend ASCS. This amount only provides our teachers with modest salaries. The average

teacher salary at ASCS is in the low $30,000. Tuition for one child is $3250. The parish subsidy is less than $800 per

student. That leaves us needing to earn more than $1200 per student to make up in fundraising. If you have more than

one child at our school that amount is even greater. One way you can help is by taking seriously our plea for you to

sell raffle tickets, secure donations to our auction or to attend the auction. I don’t know how else to say it...I need eve-

ry family to help!

If you were helped by a scholarship, perhaps you would consider helping us out! We have teachers that have sold

books at the Masses. We have teachers that have purchased books in order to contribute. I have sought the assistance

of my friends to support our school who have no connection to ASCS. We have teachers donating items. We have

teachers that have sold $500-$1000 in raffle tickets -won’t you simply sell two raffle books?

To those families who have gone above and beyond-thank you. I have lifted each one of you by name up to the Lord

with a grateful heart.

Praying God moves your heart to step up and support our school as we need you!

See 25 colleges at once: Catholic College Night coming!

"...A Catholic education is not only preparation for a career, but preparation for the rest of your life."

-Most Rev. Williams E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore

If you have a child in high school, don't miss Catholic College Night coming up on March 7, 2016. It is hosted by Catholic Central

High School (CC), representatives from at least 25 Catholic colleges and universities will have tables and booths set up in CC's

main gym from 6 - 8:30 p.m.

Notre Dame, Marquette University, Alverno College, St. Norbert, Viterbo University, Ave Maria University and Wyoming Catholic Col-

lege are a handful of the confirmed participants in this free, "open house" event. Catholic Colleges will often work with families of all

income levels to make the total cost of attendance equal to, or in some cases even lower than the cost of a state college. Please avoid

assuming that Catholic Colleges are not affordable. Quite often, they cost less than a state school. Please explore options.

Make the most of your college search, and make it convenient, as CC brings prestigious, well-respected Catholic schools together under

one roof.

CC (Catholic Central High School) is located at 148 McHenry St., Burlington, WI. For more information, email guidance counselor Aimee

Reyzer [email protected], or call 262-763-1510, ext. 224.
