TREASURER’S REPORT, Jack Lesher, Treasurer January 1, 20189- April 30, 2019

General Fund 2019 2018

Revenue………...$154,331 $152,598 Expenditures ..... $133,858 $140,001 Excess Revenue $20,473 $12,597

Comments:

We are reporting for four months into 2019. That represents one-third of the whole year. We continue to receive more than we spend. That is great, of course. We are spending less due to lower staff payroll. Office staff is on a part time work schedule, plus we have one staff to manage our caregiving visits. Here again, more volunteers efforts are a big help.

Mission 2019 2018

Carryover………. $ 5,112 $ 6,943 Revenue………... $29,537 $29,809 Disbursements…. $27,094 $27,260 Carryover Cash $ 7,555 $ 9,492

Comments: The Mission Committee continues actively meeting to send funds to all those organizations active in helping the hurting and to share the Christian message.

Just Sayin’ God is love—tough love. Our free will gets us into trouble sometimes. There are plenty of reminders we receive when our actions backfire on us.

Ocean Grill Gives Back to LPC!

Ocean Diner and Grill is in the Villages of Five Points in the same shopping center as Weis Markets. We offer an extensive menu and serve breakfast all day long. Ocean Grill has been supporting local churches since they opened six years ago. When members dine at Ocean Grill they only need to write Lewes Presbyterian on the top front of their bill. Those receipts are separated at the end of each month and total sales are computed. We then send a check equal to ten percent of the sales for that month as a donation back to your church.

LPC engaged in the “Invite Your One” program in March. The program’s pur-pose is to encourage us to in-vite both Christian and non-Christians to our church. The timing we chose was centered around Easter, the holiest time of the year. Approxi-mately 70 “I’m Inviting” cards were posted on our dis-play board and the enthusi-asm shown by members

when introducing their “Invitees” was an indication of the program’s success.

“Invite Your One” is not about the “numbers” but members becoming comforta-ble inviting others to share Christ’s love.

Let’s make “Invite Your One” an ongoing activity, fulfilling the Great Commission. Con-tinue to pray for those that were invited and that God will put someone in your path to invite. Gerry Brown

We would like to thank the people who provide the Tuesday lunch. The food is tasty and prepared well. The staff also help the guests in many ways. We are looking forward to the Fall. Hugh and Flo Councill Lewes, DE

MISSION NEWS

Our Mission Committee has recently had a presentation from the founder of Lighthouse for Broken Wings, a nonprofit organization who provides transitional housing for the homeless. Since we made a donation to them, we felt it would be helpful to educate our congregation on their existence.

Their purpose is to help those without housing regain their status in the community while having a place to call home. It is a personal development program to improve the quality of life for all indi-viduals residing in the Home.

The organization was founded by Toni Short, a woman who found herself homeless for two years. After planning Lunch with a Purpose she was able to develop a transitional program which has be-come the foundation for Lighthouse for Broken Wings.

In January 2016 Lighthouse for Broken Wings became a reality and is located in the rural part of Lewes. The doors opened with eight individuals who had been residing in their cars behind Walmart. The residents’ disabilities range from mental, social, behavioral, physical and medical issues. Residents are required to pay a small fee per week thru part time work and give ten hours of community service monthly. The goal is to enhance social and personal skills, strengthening weak areas, thus facilitating reentry into the community with a more stable future.

How blessed we are at LPC to be able to contribute to this most needed, very worthwhile organiza-tion which resides in our own community. I would encourage everyone to pray for its ongoing suc-cess.

ALSO: Regarding another well known and supported organization, Sussex Pregnancy Center lo-

cated in Georgetown …….we are having a DIAPER DRIVE - SIZE 2 to 5 - to begin June 1st and

go thru the month. Our contact person reports their storage areas are full of other baby “stuff” but

diapers are always WELCOME! Please look for the display in LPC’s Welcome Center. Praise

God for our resources! Adrienne Scott

What You Have to Share:

There is a need for occasional help for funeral re-ceptions. This may involve helping to set up before a reception, serve during a reception, or clean up after a reception. There are no meetings to attend and your gift of service is greatly appreciated by the families of recently departed loved ones who have gone to be with the Lord.

If you are called to help at a funeral reception but have a schedule conflict, it is ok to say no. You will not be over obligated if you sign up.

Young or old, you are welcome and needed! So look for the sign up clipboard soon!
