I received my undergraduate degree from The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) atthe Savannah Campus where I obtained a B.F.A. in Fashion Design. After graduating fromCollege, I moved to New York City to work for the major apparel corporation, Fast Retailing, under their subsidiary brand, Theory, as a Technical Sweater Designer. After a few months, Iwas hired full time as an Assistant Technical Designer for Men’s and Women’s and not toolong after I was promoted to Associate Men’s Sweater Technical designer at Theory Mainline,Outlet and Helmut Lang Men’s. I took on the challenge to work for three different internalbrands as well as three different groups of designers. My 3 1/2 years at Theory helped openmy eyes to the reality of the Fashion Industry: what was the true dynamic of the industry andwhat was the real structure of a brand. This helped me develop multi‑tasker skills and at thesame time, focus on achieving specific objectives and goals. In time, the brand grew andexpanded and so did I with it. Becoming involved in such a fast paced and rapidly growingbrand truly opened my eyes and helped to clarify the goals I had for myself: my brand’sniche.

Even though I did not have a managing role, having worked so closely with the designers atTheory and Helmut Lang helped me to obtain a critical eye regarding the approval of a “gooddesign,” learning how to edit a style down to “what sells" and "what doesn’t sell” as well as toidentify “runway pieces” that give the brand a prestige and exposure but not necessarilysales. Having had three years of work experience straight after graduating, I am positive Ican ignite innovation and conversation in the classroom and that my student peers canbenefit from my personal experiences.

I want to obtain the M.F.A Luxury and Fashion Management Degree from SCAD in order todevelop my own fashion label. The general vision and mission of my brand is as follows:‘Conde.Soci is a lifestyle brand inspired by the increasing number of young Latin Americanwomen between the ages of 23 to 35 who recently graduated from college and are startingto work in the current modern workforce but still want to maintain their sensuality, youthand style. We offer her trend‑setting styles, high‑quality fabrics, comfortable clothing and aslightly over the budget price range. We are targeting a sophisticated tend‑setting womanwho is professionally driven. We offer her a brand where she can find anything from herwork‑wear to her cocktail outfits. At first, the products are offered on an e‑Commercewebsite and the brand will be based in Miami. Initially, we offer dress‑shirts since they arethe pieces mostly purchased and they present a lower cost of production'

The degree in M.F.A Luxury and Fashion Management at SCAD Atlanta willallow me to obtain the tools I am yet to perfect to successfully develop my apparel brand andutilize the knowledge provided by the degree in reference to the international fashionindustry, cross‑cultural understanding, and the global market place. Even more, I also wantto utilize the networking provided by the degree to create the most efficient business webbetween fabrication suppliers, manufacturers, warehouse inventory, transportation logisticsand the customer’s compatibility with the brand. In addition, I want to learn more aboutvisual merchandising, communications, fashion promotion, and an accurate branding of myfashion label.
