What is SAVS?Sexual Assault Victim Services (SAVS), a program of NEWS, is dedicated to aiding and empowering survivors of sexual assault, and their families, throughout Napa County.

SAVS Program Services:We realize this is a difficult time, but please know that you are not alone and we are here to support and guide you, listen to you in a non-judgmental way and offer help with:

• CONFIDENTIAL 24-HOUR helpline

• Crisis Intervention

• Orientation to the Criminal Justice System

• Advise as to case status/disposition

• Provide Court Support/Advocate Escort

• Help with Victim Impact Statement

• Assist with application to the State Compensation Program for counseling

• Support Groups

Your feelings...Sexual assault can happen to anyone. Often the person

responsible is someone you know and trusted, which can

make talking about it even more difficult. When rape or

sexual abuse happens, it is normal to experience different

things: It may be difficult to sleep or eat. You might feel

physically ill, have head or stomach aches. It’s common

to feel anger, anxiety, or to be irritable. You might not

like being around people or doing things you once found

appealing. You may feel stuck. If the abuse happened when

you were young and you are talking about it for the first

time, it may bring back feelings and fears that have been

tucked away for a long time, this can seem overwhelming.

Tu sentimientos...Abuso sexual le puede pasar a cualquiera. Usualmente la

persona responsable es alguien que conoces y en quien

confias, puede ser aun mas difícil hablar de ellos. Cuando

la violación o el abuso sexual ocurre, es normal pasar por

cosas diferentes: Puede ser difícil dormir o comer. Puede

sentirse enfermo/a, dolores de cabeza o estomago. Es

común sentir coraje, ansiedad o estar irritable. Es posible

que no quiera estar rodeado/a de gente o hacer las cosas

antes te interesaban. Se siente atrapado. Si el abuso ocurrio

cuando era joven y esta hablando acerca del abuso por

primera vez, puede traer sentimientos y temores que a

escondido por mucho.

It’s not your fault...Sexual abuse is never the survivor’s fault, even though it

is common to blame yourself. You do have options about

who you tell and what happens next. SAVS can help you

to think about what is right for you and inform you about

your rights.

No es tu culpa...Abuso sexual nunca es culpa del sobreviviente, a pesar

de que es común culparse a si mismo. Usted tiene

opciones sobre a quien le dice y lo que sucede después.

When SEXUAL ABUSE is reported to the authoritiesThe Criminal Justice System can go in many different

directions and can be confusing. It is very helpful to

have someone guide you along the way. SAVS is here

to help and to make sure you are informed each step

of the way.

psychologically, emotionally and physically. Learning

your rights, the choices you have and the available

resources can be the first step to healing. SAVS offers

sensitive, confidential resources to survivors and their

non-offending families.

tes psicológicamente, emocionalmente y físicamente.

Aprender sus derechos, las opciones que tiene y los

recursos disponibles pueden ser el primer paso para
