Program of Study• Criminal Justice – Justice Affairs• Prepares students for careers in criminal justice that are 

outside of law enforcement, such as corrections, court services, dispatching, court advocacy, security loss prevention, and private investigations

Problem Statement• In the past five years, only one female has completed the program

• With a new federal prison in our district, along with an established state prison, the workforce demand is high, particularly for females.

Data Analysis• Students struggle in English, Mathematics, and Psychology among many in gen ed core. 

• 8 out of 10 are first‐generation students• Many are declaring their program early, then dropping. 

• Many are hanging around for many semesters, declaring, and then dropping

• Many are possibly in the wrong track of English

Focus Group• A group of four students• Two were alumni, two were current students• Appeared they did not fully understand program or its career path – Needed workforce connection

• Did not understand need for gen ed courses• Contemplated changing majors• Emphasized a need for a strong orientation of the ENTIRE program, including gen ed core.

Individual Student Reports• To get a more in‐depth and focused view, reports about each student were generated. 

• Revealed critical and unique information about a student’s path through the program.

Equity• In studying the data, males were not completing at a much higher rate than females. 

• Too few minorities in program to sample.• There were no conclusive determinations about age groups.

Processes• Students may need an orientation to understand the curriculum and the workforce possibilities. 

• Students that are not transferring should be directed to technical writing courses, as opposed to composition courses that are geared towards transfer.

• More faculty contact/advising/mentoring

FUSE RESULTS 20 families participated  61 people served  7 adults enrolled in ESL classes 3 students that graduated high school are attending Sauk this fall

2 previous FUSE participants completed a certificate at Sauk this year

10 FUSE participants requested individual services from the Immigrant Family Resource Program Caseworker for translation and interpretation services.
