This presentation will take place at the Sandy Public Library Community Room. Learn about Philip Foster Farm, Oregon’s first tourist destination, and the historical Barlow Road. We will explore the settlement of Eagle Creek and the history of the surrounding communities during 1845-1900. Find out about current programs at the Philip Foster Farm.

Presenter Joanne Broadhurst, a native born Oregonian whose family dates to 1843 and 1853, is a great granddaughter of Josiah and Lucy Foster Burnett (Daughter to Philip and Mary Charlotte Foster). Family history was a common conversation during her early years, instilling a life-long interest in Oregon history. Ms. Broadhurst attended Eagle Creek grade school, Estacada High School, Oregon State College, and attained her CPA degree through Portland State University. Ms. Broadhurst is retired but still involved in the Philip Foster Farm.
