During inspection, staff will recommend irrigation improvements to increase efficiency and review program terms and conditions, including eligible equipment. Staff will pick up application during this visit. Do not perform any work until District provides approval to proceed. ___ 3. After initial inspection, customer may purchase and install eligible irrigation equipment to upgrade their system. (See 2017 Eligible Program Equipment List for eligible equipment). ___ 4. Once installed, customer must call SJWD at 791-2663 to schedule a walk-thru appointment to verify installation of irrigation equipment. Receipts will be picked up during this visit. Receipts/invoices shall itemize all equipment purchased. Contractor invoices must include contractor purchase price as District will only rebate contractor actual cost of equipment (no markups). ___ 5. Staff will review application and receipts to determine rebate eligibility. 50% of the cost of eligible irrigation equipment will be considered for rebate up to the maximum allowed and will be issued in the form of an account credit. Customer will receive credit for ½ of their eligible rebate amount after the verification process. The balance will be applied after one year if a water savings is achieved. Terms and Conditions

1. The Irrigation Improvement Rebate Program will be administered by the San Juan Water District. 2. All eligible irrigation equipment must be purchased and installed between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. 3. Eligibility

a. Property address where irrigation equipment is installed must be located within the San Juan Water District retail service area.

b. Applicant must have a water account with the San Juan Water District. c. Applicant must have an existing underground irrigation system with an operable automatic controller. d. Existing controllers that can be upgraded to be a weather based system do not quality. Only

controllers that cannot be upgraded to a weather based system qualify for the rebate. e. Applicant must participate in a pre-inspection site visit prior to upgrading irrigation system. f. Applicant must make a follow-up appointment for San Juan Water District staff to verify installation of

irrigation equipment to be eligible for a rebate. g. If applicant resides in an HOA and landscape is maintained by the HOA, a letter of approval to

participate is required from the HOA. 4. Eligible Equipment:

Irrigation equipment includes parts that improve irrigation efficiencies as determined by San Juan Water District conservation staff and are reflected in the eligible program equipment list. Items such as couplings, wiring, electrical tape, drainage, weed cloth, planting material, mulch, etc. are excluded from rebate funding. Itemized receipts and proof of payment are required (see attached examples). Efficiencies may include:

a. The removal of an old irrigation timer and replacement with an irrigation controller that is weather based that automatically adjusts irrigation in response to changes in plants’ needs as weather conditions change. Weather based controllers that do not have integral rain sensors or communication systems that account for local rainfall shall have a separate wired or wireless rain sensor which connects or communicates with the controller.

b. Conversion of existing high volume spray systems to low volume drip irrigation systems rated at 2.5 gallons per hour per emitter or less.

c. Matched precipitation rate sprinkler heads equipped with pressure reducing devices or check valves: standardizing all make and models within systems.

d. Installation of pressure regulation equipment that reduces pressure to the irrigation system. e. Removal of leaking or broken irrigation equipment and replace with new parts. f. Equipment associated with system design improvements that will minimize runoff, overspray and

increase watering efficiencies. 5. Irrigation systems must be equipped with a pressure regulator and filter for drip irrigation systems. 6. Receipts must include date purchased, itemized description of equipment purchased, and cost of

each item purchased. Contractor invoices must include their original equipment purchase from a retail store.

7. SJWD will provide reimbursement of 50% of total equipment cost with corresponding receipts (labor to install irrigation equipment not included), up to a maximum of $500 per residential site and $1,500 per commercial site. ½ of the eligible rebate amount will be issued in the form of an account credit after verification of installation and receipts. The balance will be applied after one year if applicant achieves a water savings. Note: Participant must own the participating property for full year to receive the 2nd half of program reimbursement.

8. Customers who have previously participated in the rebate program and have received the maximum reimbursement, may again participate in the program if 5 years has passed since the last reimbursement had been received.

9. Installed equipment must remain in compliance with all terms and conditions for a period of 5 years following the receipt of the rebate.

9. Applicant agrees to hold San Juan Water District harmless from any and all liability or claims for damage resulting from or alleged to result from (a) the installation of the irrigation parts or equipment, (b) the inspection of the premises to verify proper installation, (c) controller or irrigation system malfunctions, (d) changes in Applicant’s water use, (e) damage to landscape as a result of landscapes adjusting to changes in watering schedules, and (f) any other activity related to this program.

10. SJWD reserves the right to verify the purchase and installation location of any system for which a rebate is requested.

11. Rebate program is subject to available funding. Rebates will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is depleted. Submission of an application does not guarantee a rebate.

12. SJWD reserves the right to modify or cancel the program at any time. San Juan Water District
