s. nicholas church Floodlight: light the church

We all realise how important it is to support our Church, more so in these days of rising costs; well here is a good way of supporting it and enjoying it personally.Floodlight the building by day £2.25 or by the week £14.50, for that personal event: a birth, Baptism, Birthday, an Anniversary, Wedding or Years Mind of a loved one, in doing this you will remember and at the same time help pay the electricity bill. The price is reasonable and shows this building in all its glory after sunset, it does enhance this fine building. Reg holds the diary, to be sure there are no double bookings, it is yours for the day or week.

IntroductIonA life without love can seem like a desert. Jesus changed the lonely existence of a Samaritan woman into a fruitful and beautiful life for others when he poured his love into her heart.

Today’sReadingsFirstReadingExodus17:3-7 After their escape from slavery in Egypt into the barrenness of the desert, the Israelites begged Moses to give them water. SecondReadingRomans5:1-2.5-8Our thirsty souls need the life-giving water that is love. Through Jesus, the Spirit of love gives us the life for which we all long.

GospelJohn4:5-42 The Samaritan woman represents all of us who thirst for the spring of water “welling up to eternal life”, which Jesus makes available to us in himself.

PRAyER OF THE FAiTHFuL

Loving Lord, our hearts are restless until they rest in you. We bring you ourselves and our prayers, knowing that, in you, we will find a welcome.

We pray for our Pope: that, following the Good Shepherd, he will lead us to the waters of life and love.Lord, hear us.

We pray for farmers: that they will have the weather they need to produce the crops that feed the people dependent on them.Lord, hear us.

We pray for those who experience the desert of loneliness: that they will find love.Lord, hear us.

We pray for those who are preparing to receive the waters of bap-tism at the Easter Vigil: that they will be filled with joy in their new life of faith.Lord, hear us.

We pray for families: that they may be centres of love and support for all those around them.Lord, hear us.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to hear our prayers and pour your love into our hearts, through Christ our Lord.
