Welcome to Billerica Catholic Religious Education for 2016-17!

While many aspects of the BCRE program are unchanged, this year’s big change is that we will limit the number of students in each class for more manageable class sizes. The number of classes offered will also be based on the number of volunteers who come forward.

Please volunteer for your program so that we may place as many children as possible in classes. The registration form for students and the form for interested volunteers can be found at: reled.billericacatholic.org.

Religious Education Office Hours

The BCRE Office will be open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am to 4 pm after Labor Day, Sep-tember 6th. Please stop by to register or just say hello!

Our Greatest Volunteer Needs

Our Grade 1-2 children are in need of teachers of our faith. If you have considered teaching about Jesus to elementary children, now is the time to say, “Yes!” You will join the ranks of those who live out their faith in the teaching of others with our support. Please contact Robin Clayton at the BCRE Office (978-667-3733 x44) if you are interested. We need teachers and aides for these sessions:

Sundays at 7:35 & 10:35 am - (teachers & aides) St. Mary Sundays at 8:35 am - (aide) St. Andrew Mondays at 4 (aides) & 6 (teacher & aide) pm - St. Theresa Tuesdays at 4 pm - (teacher & aides) St. Theresa Wednesdays at 6 pm - (aide) St. Mary

Is Jesus calling you to help our elementary children become His disciples? Our families need your help with teachers and/or aides to help with the following Grade 3-4-5 classes:

Sundays at 8:30 am - (aide) St. Andrew Tuesdays at 4 pm - (aide) St. Theresa Tuesdays at 6 pm - (teacher) St. Theresa Wednesdays at 6 pm - (teacher & aide) St. Mary

Will you answer the call? Contact the Billerica Catholic Religious Education Office: 978-667-3733.

Women’s Club Bake Sale

The first bake sale of the fall will be September 10 & 11 after all Masses, except the 5 pm. The ladies will set up in the hallway of the Hall. Be sure to stop by and take something yummy home for the entire family!

Movie Night

The next dinner & movie night will be Saturday, September 10. We will have a baked chicken din-ner at 5:15. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 will begin at 6:15. All are welcome to join us in the St. The-

resa Hall. Please invite a friend!

Attention Golfers

Billerica Knights of Columbus kicks off its annual “Tootsie Roll” campaign for children with intellectual difficulties with the Clif Doiron/Bill Morrissey Memorial

Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, September 26 at Passaconway Golf Course. Please contact Dave Molhan at [email protected] to register or to make a donation. We are especially looking for prior participants whose contact information may have been lost.

It’s CORI Form Time Again

Once again this fall we ask all volunteers to complete a CORI form. There are changes to the information required on the CORI form. To facilitate the CORI re-form law signed by the Governor, the Department of Criminal Information Services has updated the CORI access system. This system requires that all individuals pro-

vide the last 6 digits of their Social Security Number along with other required information.

We will be available after all Masses the weekend of September 10/11 to verify your identity and take your form. By completing a CORI at this time, you will not need to make a special trip to the parish office to do so.

Helping the Missionaries of Charity

Once again this year, the Catholic Community of Billerica will be helping St. Teresa of Calcutta’s Missionaries of Charity. St. Mary Parish has supported their ministry to the elderly for many years. This year, we are expanding the program throughout the Catholic Community of Billerica.

Gift labels will be available in baskets located at the entrances to all three churches the weekend of September 3rd & 4th. Please pick up a tag as your gift pledge for an elderly person. We will begin collecting the gifts the weekend of September 17 & 18.

Thank you for your generous donations as we honor Mother Theresa on the month of her canonization!

Come Let Us Sing

It’s that wonderful time of year! Junior/Children’s Choir will begin rehearsals on Thursday, September 29. Children’s

Choir at 6:30pm and Junior Choir at 7pm, in the church. New members are always welcome. See you there! Contact: Joanne: 978-667-5392 or [email protected].

Yankee Doodle Celebration

Would you like to assist at the Catholic Community of Billerica booth at Yankee Doodle weekend? The Catholic Community of Billerica will host a booth again this year on Saturday, September 19. Do you like to face paint, and would like to share this talent? If you would like to help in any way, please contact Chris Kilburn at

[email protected].

Join us for this fun-filled day as we celebrate “Honoring Billerica’s Future.”

Join Us For Catechetical Sunday!

On September 18, we celebrate Catechetical Sun-day with parishes throughout the country. We are blessed to have dedicated teach-ers, group lead-ers, aides and volunteers in our Religious Educa-tion program. We ask God to bless them to be worthy and ef-fective teachers of the faith. We also praise God and thank those who teach adults: our discussion leaders, our RCIA team, parishioners who teach the marriage prep program, weekly prayer meet-ings and many other venues. We invite you to join us at Masses on September 18 where we will bless all those who share the love of Jesus with us.

Boston Priests. There for us.

At Saint Stephen Parish in Framingham, the lively multicultural community with a strong Hispanic presence has become an extension of Fr. Francisco “Paco” Anzoategui’s family. “We may speak dierent languages and have dierent traditions, but we are not two separate communities,” said Fr. Paco. “We are one family of believers with the same faith, and we are united in a wonderful bond that we call our spiritual family.”

To help ensure a continuum of care for Fr. Paco and all our devoted priests who faithfully serve our Catholic family please support the special collection on September 17-18.
